COVID-19 Occupational Risks, Seroprevalence and Immunity among Paramedics in Canada [study data contributed to the CITF Databank]

    No full text
Background: Due to the nature of their job, paramedics are at high risk for COVID-19 infection and transmission as they perform various procedures and treatments that may increase their exposure to the virus. Aims of the CITF funded study: CORSIP-Canada aimed to determine past infection prevalence and risk of infection by SARS-CoV-2 among paramedics by measuring infection-induced and vaccine-acquired antibodies, and vaccination. It also aimed to investigate their attitudes towards vaccines and risk factors in the workplace to establish optimal strategies and safety guidelines for protection. Methods: Paramedics above the age of 19 in British Columbia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba were individually recruited into a cohort study via institutional promotion and external advertisements. Participants submitted a baseline questionnaire and blood sample and completed follow-up questionnaires and blood samples every 6 months for one year. Contributed dataset contents: The datasets include 3709 participants who completed baseline questionnaires between January 2021 and March 2023. 76% of participants gave one or more dried blood spots or blood samples for SARS-CoV-2 serology between Jan 2021 and Feb 2023. About 1600 participants provided longitudinal data with serology results for up to 2 years with a median follow-up time of 11 months (median 3 samples). Approximately 380 additional participants gave dried blood spots or blood samples for SARS-CoV-2 serology without completing a questionnaire. Questionnaire variables include data in the following areas of information: demographics (age, gender, race-ethnicity and indigeneity, province, education, household composition, occupations), general health (tobacco use; chronic conditions; height and weight; flu vaccine), COVID infection test results, symptoms and exposure risks, SARS-CoV-2 vaccination

Assessment of Green Roof Suitability by Active Remote Sensing of University of British Columbia Buildings

    No full text
Green roofs are a promising mitigation tool against environmental concerns caused by increased urbanization. This study aims to address which of the University of British Columbia’s buildings are most suitable for a retrofitted green roof using active remote sensing. Through the assessment of six characteristics of buildings, a suitability score was given to all buildings within the area of interest on campus. The six suitability criteria are rooftop slope, rooftop area, building usage, building ownership, structural materials, and light intensity. The six suitability characteristics where selected based off literature on existing green roof retrofitting analyzing their structure, types and performance. This study is part of the Social Ecological Economic Development Studies (SEEDS) Sustainability Program to address sustainability policies and practices on UBC’s campus. The building suitability analysis resulted in the detection of five buildings with the greatest suitability score and their total rooftop area being 31,940.80 m^2. Each of the five buildings then was further investigated in terms of the vegetation health and density surrounding the buildings to isolate potential concerns of planting in the area. The mean NDVI of existing greenery surrounding the top five suitable buildings is 0.67, indicative of moderate to high density vegetation. Implementing green roof retrofitting on the suitable UBC buildings requires an additional accessibility analysis to maximize the positive social impacts of increasing campus greenery and make decisions on the green roof structure

Postal Code Conversion File [Canada], June 2025, Census of Canada 2021

    No full text
The Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF) is a digital file which provides a correspondence between the Canada Post Corporation (CPC) six-character postal code and Statistics Canada's standard geographic areas for which census data and other statistics are produced. Through the link between postal codes and standard geographic areas, the PCCF permits the integration of data from various sources. The Single Link Indicator provides one best link for every postal code, as there are multiple records for many postal codes. New to the June 2022 version, a separate data file is available for retired postal codes. The retired file uses the same record layout as the PCCF file. The same syntax file can be used for both the PCCF data file and the retired data file. The geographic coordinates attached to each postal code on the PCCF are commonly used to map the distribution of data for spatial analysis (e.g., clients, activities). The location information is a powerful tool for planning, or research purposes. The geographic coordinates, which represent the standard geostatistical areas linked to each postal codeOM on the PCCF, are commonly used to map the distribution of data for spatial analysis (e.g., clients, activities). The location information is a powerful tool for marketing, planning, or research purposes. In April 1983, the Statistical Registers and Geography Division released the first version of the PCCF, which linked postal codesOM to 1981 Census geographic areas and included geographic coordinates. Since then, the file has been updated on a regular basis to reflect changes. For this release of the PCCF, the vast majority of the postal codesOM are directly geocoded to 2016 Census geography while others are linked via various conversion processes. A quality indicator for the confidence of this linkage is available in the PCCF. </p

Search strategies for Severe asthma remission in adults / Stratégies de recherche sur la Rémission de l'asthme sévère chez l'adulte

    No full text
This dataset contains the full MEDLINE (using the MEDALL segment, 1946-) and Embase (from 1974-) search strategies. These databases were searched without language restriction, all via Ovid. The search strategy used text words and database-appropriate controlled vocabulary (indexing) to retrieve publications on moderate to severe asthma remission in adults. We retrieved results published later than 2014, when another search had been done.

Replication data for: Volume kinetics of crystalloid and colloid solutions administered to healthy anesthetized cats

    No full text
The dataset contains physiological vital sign and biochemical data collected from awake and anesthetized cats who were given a fluid bolus (either 20 mL/kg of a balanced isotonic crystalloid solution (PLA) or 5 mL/kg of 6% tetrastarch 130/0.4 solution (T-HES) administered over 15 minutes. Plasma dilution was calculated as a surrogate for 'fluid' concentration in the plasma along with cumulative urine output as the primary input data to do volume kinetic modeling in Phoenix NLME software. The dataset contains 2 XLS spreadsheets that contain the formatted data for import into Phoenix- one for each fluid type, and 1 XLS spreadsheet that contains the combined datasets that was used for descriptive statistical analysis. Finally the dataset contains 2 PDF documents that are copies of the HISTORY of the Phoenix output that allows the user to uncover the settings and approach that was used to model the data and complete the Phoenix Volume Kinetic Analysis
