Postal Code Federal Riding File [Canada], May 1999, Census of Canada 1996

    No full text
The Postal Codes by Federal Ridings File (PCFRF) is a digital file which provides a link between the six- character postal code and Canada’s federal electoral districts (which are also known as federal ridings). Elections Canada defines a federal electoral district (FED) as any place or territorial area entitled to return a Member of Parliament (MP) to serve in the House of Commons. Federal electoral district legal limits and descriptions are the responsibility of the Chief Electoral Officer, and are usually revised every ten years after the results of the decennial census. There are 301 FEDs in the 1996 Representation Order, the most recent revision of the federal electoral districts limits. Some postal codes straddle one or more FED boundaries. Users often link the postal code in their data set to the FED in the PCFRF. When performing this link, users should be aware that the postal code in their data set may represent a mailing address used by a person, not necessarily where the person actually resides. Similarly, a postal code in a business-based mailing address may not necessarily indicate where the business activity took place. The reference date for postal codes contained in the PCFRF is the same date as the postal codes contained in the Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF) product released concurrently with this version of the PCFRF</p

    Cocoa agroforestry shade tree traits

    No full text
Leaf functional traits of shade trees in agroforestry systems underpin key ecosystem functions, but there is limited research on how shade tree functional traits vary across climatic and soil fertility gradients in agroforestry systems, or between farms and forests. In this study, we use shade tree leaf trait data from cocoa agroforestry systems in Ghana and examine how leaf nitrogen concentration, leaf dry matter content, and specific leaf area vary across climatic zones and soil quality levels. We also compare the measured trait data to those of tree species found in Ghanaian forests (derived from open-access trait databases) to compare trait expression on cocoa farms vs. forests

The COVID-19 Pandemic Among Sexual and Gender Marginalized Populations in Canada: Physical Distancing Impacts, SARS-CoV-2 Seroprevalence, and Health and Wellness Needs [2SLGBTQQIAplus-COVID-19, study data contributed to the CITF Databank]

Background: Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, asexual, and other sexual- and gender-marginalized people experience health inequities that may have resulted in greater impact of COVID-19 disease and public health measures. Aims of the CITF co-funded study:The study aimed to conduct an online survey of 2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals across urban and non-urban regions in Canada to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on their health, wellness, stigma, and material security. Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited individuals who identified as a gender or sex minority or a sexual orientation minority, were at least 15 years old, and resided in Canada during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants were recruited via media advertisements. Researchers collected information via an online survey offered in English, French, and Spanish, and used a community-based approach to engage participants. Participants over the age of 18 were given the option to provide a self-collected dried blood spot (DBS) via a mailed kit to test for SARS-CoV-2. Contributed dataset contents: The datasets include 4013 participants who completed baseline interviews between April 2022 and September 2022. 30% of participants gave one blood sample for SARS-CoV-2 serology between March 2022 and February 2023. Variables include data in the following areas of information: demographics (age, gender, race-ethnicity and indigeneity, province), general health (chronic conditions; flu vaccine), SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, and serology
