    Spirit and Heart: Indigenous People contest the formal and lived curricula We welcome proposals to contribute to the special issue.  Understandably, all proposals and work submitted to the co-editors of the CPI, special issue are to be grounded in Indigenous world views, lived experiences and/or ways of knowing.  Academic and community authors, poets and artists who are interested in contributing to this CPI Special Issue, please, submit a proposal in either a single Word or PDF file to any of the CPI Special Issue, Co-Editors by December 15, 2017.   If your proposal is accepted, the completed work is to be submitted for peer-review by March 15, 2018.  Planned publication date: early Fall 2018

    Video installation; printmaking (photo-plate lithography on rice paper), chine-coll. As an Iranian woman artist who immigrated to Canada two years ago, my research creation examines ways of visualizing the notion of simultaneity in the lives of today’s migrants, in the sense of living between several cultures and multiple states of mind. In my work, I intend to show the shifts and reconstructions that take place in one’s identity as the result of immigration and living in a different culture, with the lens of simultaneity in identity, place, and language.

    Mixed media construction with sound loop of washing rice. The work in this exhibition, Rosebery Single, memorializes the internment experiences of Nunoda’s family. Rosebery Single, is part of a larger project, Ghostown, in which Nunoda visually represents his ongoing research of the Japanese internment camps in British Columbia during World War II. Nunoda describes this as a sort of “pilgrimage” based on the first-hand accounts from his parents and grandparents, providing a focus for his subsequent research
