    Misdemeanor Waivers of Counsel

    No full text
An initial appearance is often the first—and sometimes the only—courtroom proceeding for misdemeanor defendants. The purpose of this proceeding is to inform arrested people about the chargers and advise them about their constitutional rights so that they can make knowing, intelligent, and voluntary legal decisions, including whether to waive their right to counsel and their right to trial

Enhancing Network Security through Dual-Layer Log Analysis: Integrating Machine Learning Classifiers with Large Language Models for Intelligent Anomaly Detection

    No full text
This paper presents an innovative approach to enhancing network security by integrating machine learning algorithms with fine-tuned large language models (LLMs) to provide an expert assistant querying. The proposed method utilizes machine learning for efficient preprocessing and feature extraction from log data, followed by the application of a fine-tuned LLM to analyze and interpret anomalies with greater accuracy. This dual-layer detection system is designed to improve the identification of subtle and sophisticated security threats. The research team’s extensive evaluation using real-world log datasets indicates that the combined approach increases detection rates and communicates results in an understandable manner, demonstrating its potential for improving overall network security management

Preparing Meals As A Metaphor For The Use Of Arts In Worship: A Liturgical Arts Curriculum For Nourishing Chinese-Indonesian Congregations

    No full text
Food plays an essential role in human life. It is of paramount importance to consume an adequate quantity of food to maintain good health, nourish the body, and provide the necessary energy for daily activities. In addition to its role in providing nourishment, the visual appeal of food can bring delight to the eyes, desire to the heart, stimulate the appetite, and prompt humans to consume it. Liturgical art is like food. The metaphor of food or meals, as employed in liturgical arts, serves to emphasize the significance of artistic expression and integration within worship services to nourish and reach people. This thesis presents the potential employment and sharing of liturgical arts and local arts in Indonesian Chinese churches embodied in an arts curriculum design for seminaries in Indonesia. The arts curriculum aims to introduce and equip lay leaders and pastors who will serve in worship and arts ministry to the role and use of liturgical arts as well as to prepare them for the roles of worship and arts ministers as liturgical theologians, pastoral musicians, and missional artists in church and community

Combating Forced Labor: Innovative Data Solutions for Risk Assessments

    No full text
Today’s global market demands that businesses ensure their supply chains are free from human rights violations, especially forced labor. Due to the increasing regulatory, commercial, and reputational stakes, it is crucial to identify and address these risks. However, firms must manage forced labor risks for compliance purposes while navigating a lack of data visibility and compliance complexities. Moody’s and The Rights Lab are leveraging data and technology to assist businesses in identifying and mitigating the risk of forced labor within their supply chains. By utilizing technology for data collection, they can pinpoint risks in three key areas: industry, geography, and business operations. This process generates an overall risk score for each company, vendor, and client, aiding organizations in managing their risks effectively. The forward- looking risk-based approach provides companies with an automated, scalable, and consistent measure of risk, enhancing data sharing with suppliers. Additionally, the past and current event investigation approach allows companies to review historical data, interconnected with other financial, environmental violations, and allegations

Computational Identification Of Infiltrating T Lymphocytes Into Solid Tumor

    No full text
T cells play a central role in cancer immunity. Successful anti-tumor immunotherapy relies on the effective infiltration of cytotoxic T cells. However, the tumor microenvironment presents physical and immunosuppressive barriers to prevent T cell entry. Here, we developed two novel computational tools, ReMITT and SIBERT, to search for migrating T cells and T cell entry regions (TERs) into the tumor core. SIBERT combines a novel change point detection method and a spatial imputation model to detect regions with signatures of recent T cell entry using the spatial transcriptomics data. Applying SIBERT to multiple human cancer samples revealed several TERs for each sample, which were dominantly distributed near the tumor margins rich in blood vessels. Unbiased gene expression analysis revealed key pathways and cytokine/receptors involved in T cell transmigration. Under the rationale of immunoediting, we also predicted potentially novel tumor antigens excluded from the TERs. This work provided insights in T cell exclusion for future immunotherapy developmen
