GroundCap: A Visually Grounded Image Captioning Dataset
No full textThis research introduces GroundCap, a novel dataset and task formulation for visually grounded image captioning, addressing the challenge of linking descriptive text to specific visual elements. The authors propose a unified grounding framework that enables consistent object reference tracking and action-object linking, and present gMETEOR, a metric combining caption quality with grounding accuracy. By providing a large-scale dataset of images with captions explicitly grounded to visual elements, GroundCap aims to bridge the gap between current image captioning systems and human visual communication
