Visuospatial perception in subjects with out-body-experiences
"Visual imagery typically refers to the voluntary creation of the conscious visual experience
of an object or scene in its absence, solely in the mind. There are individuals who have no experience of imagery at all –their minds are completely blind: aphantasia. Hyperphantasia is at the other end of the imagery spectrum: strong and often photo-like imagery. One of the key limitations to studying visual imagery has been its internal private and subjective nature. An intrinsic characteristic of the imagery experience is its degree of vividness, the clarity and richness of the mental representation. The most commonly used questionnaire is the vividness of visual imagery questionnaire (VVIQ).

Synaptic homeostasis and fake news
"The spread of fake news has become a major problem for societies. Recent studies showed that when people are confronted with invented news, can believe and even generate a false memory of these events, and this is increased when the content of the fake material is consistent with their ideology. Further, it has been observed that there are individual factors such as cognitive or analytical thinking abilities that influence the generation of false memories. Besides, a recent
study found that decision-making is a result of the combination of the person's chronotype and the sleep pressure they have at the time of the evaluation. Here, we hypothesize that people's sleep pressure when observing fake news is a predictor of the capacity to generate false memories about fake news. To study this, we developed a set of fake news that was presented mixed with real news. We discuss the results in the framework of the Synaptic Homeostasis Hypothesis.

Impairment of aversive episodic memories during covid-19 pandemic: The impact of emotional context on memory processes
"Episodic memory is the ability to recall about what, where and when the event happened. Furthermore, there is a consensus that pleasant or aversive events are better remembered than neutral events and that episodic memory processes are modulated by anxiety and depression. People's mental health has deteriorated due to the COVID-19 pandemic, showing a growth in anxiety and depressive symptoms. Here, we hypothesize that the increase in negative symptoms modifies the ability to encode and consolidate memories. To study this, we evaluated the effects of emotional context on encoding and consolidation of aversive and neutral episodic memories.
Investigations on energy optimal solutions to control a forestry crane
Due to the progressing climate change, climate-neutral resources are becoming increasingly important. The forest industry is aware of this problem and hence, is looking for new technologies to make the production of its natural resource more ecient. Therefore, this thesis presents an energetic optimization of a forestry crane. For this purpose, a pseudoinverse solution of the crane kinematics is optimized by the gradient projection method according to minimum hydraulic pressure and ow rate. The hydraulic pressure reveals to be the relevant optimization parameter. By increasing the feedback pressure, its inuence on high-pressure peaks is increased in order to successfully reduce these. To maximize the energy savings, a hydraulic transformer is included in this approach. By coupling the inner and outer boom, potential energy is utilized for contrary motions of these. The developed algorithm for optimizing the energy demand is implemented in a holistic simulation model of a forestry crane arm. The eectiveness of this approach is tested in the model using representative trajectories. Energy savings of up to 26.9 % compared to a least norm pseudoinverse solution can be determined using the optimized control system. When the energy-saving potential of the coupling of the inner and outer boom is also considered, the total reduction in energy increases to up to 31.8 %

Se analizaron en detalle 70 series de tiempo a nivel tienda-departamento y se demostró la eficacia de estas.""Hierarchical Time Series (HTS) are a subset of time series that are contained inside of a structure or hierarchy. This kind of structure may be defined by important characteristics of the product/service, like its category or department, or it may be defined by some geographic division, for instance, city, state, country and so on. Classic approaches for time series, like
ARIMA or ETS are suboptimal for this kind of series due to the fact that this hierarchy could give us interesting information for forecasting that may be hidden or not easily identifiable if we model all the series separately. Because of that, we compared the performance of LSTM Neural Networks, which are widely used for time series, and some specific approaches for hierarchical
time series as Bottom-up and Optimal Reconciliation in order to forecast department sales for Walmart stores in the USA. We performed an in-depth analysis for 70 store-departamental time series and showed the efficacy of these techniques for each one."Trabajo Final Ciencia de Datos (especialización) - Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, 202
H–infinity control is proposed in order to achieve robust performance in presence of dynamic model uncertainty. It is assumed that a considerable amount of uncertainty is due to time delays introduced by the algorithms employed. The estimation of the vehicle’s displacement velocity is carried out
on-board through an optical flow sensor implemented employing a camera and a high level processor as well as the H–infinity controller. Through experimental data, the system’s identification procedure used to obtain a description of the plant as a family of models with global dynamic uncertainty is also presented as part of the design process. The implemented optical flow estimation
methods are also presented as well as the tuning procedures employed which may affect the results of the system’s identification and the control performance. Experimental results are presented with details regarding the implementation phase.
