Automatic Handwritten Digit Recognition on Images Using Machine Learning Methods
Get PDFWith the transformation to digital information exchange, many papers, including invoices, taxes, notes and surveys, historical data, and test results, still require handwriting. In this context, handwritten digit recognition is required, which is a computer-automated method for decoding records. To achieve this purpose, machine learning mostly employs neural networks, with the convolution neural network being the most common. The primary objective of this dissertation is to develop an automatic technique for detecting handwritten digits by determining the optimal hyperparameter of a convolutional neural network and analyzing the impact of various hyperparameters on network performance. To do this, several values of each hyperparameter were chosen within a specified range using the MNIST database for training and testing. As a result, a large amount of data was collected in which a very high influence of hyperparameter selection on the performance of the neural network was determined, and a 99.2% accurate pure CNN design was achieved

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF GAMIFICATION ON LANGUAGE LEARNING IN HIGHER EDUCATION CONTEXT
Get PDFAbstract. The higher education system is currently facing outdated methods of language teaching. It is well established that today's students are technology-oriented and prone to mixing game elements with learning subjects. Gamification is a practical method in language teaching and other areas of education. The goal of this study is to determine the effects of using appropriate gamification methodsin language learning in a higher education context and find out the students’ perception toward gamifying the language disciplines. In this context, appropriate gamification methods mean suitable and modern game tools for students of the growing generation. To explore the existing study, an online questionnaire survey with several open-ended questions was distributed to undergraduate third-year students of a language specialty. The participants were selected according to their language disciplines, understanding of gamification, and experience in specific subjects. The results showed a positive perception and impact on changing and variation of the gamification method. Based on the qualitative analysis, it concluded that using meaningful and practical game elements are important factors to consider when designing the lesson plan for higher education students of a language specialty. Teachers' perception of gamification language disciplines should be taken into account for further development of the study
Programming Olympiad as a Subject in Schools for Sustaining IT Education
Get PDFThe qualification of teachers and coaches involved in the search for and preparation of students for informatics olympiads has a significant impact on the motivation of students to study informatics and participate in informatics olympiads. The analysis of development trends, international informatics competition, and school informatization programs has enabled the definition of three levels of informatics and information and communication technologies (ICT) for teacher preparation. These levels of ICT preparation of school teachers and their relationship to one another are described in the given thesis. In addition, not only is the curriculum for teachers described, but also the methods of teaching in various platforms such as learning management systems. Organization of the preparation of teachers, taking into account the distinctive features of each level, will permit the essential number of participants in the informatics olympiads to increase and will improve the outcomes of their participation and the international informatics olympiads
DEVELOPING THE METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS OF SOCIAL AUDIT IN AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATIONS

In today's economic environment, the role and significance of social audit is increasing, especially when analyzing the socio-economic activity of agricultural organizations. In terms of the scope of audit, social compliance audit is a complex phenomenon, and enables to evaluate social conditions of functioning at different levels of government. Objectives. The study aims to substantiate theoretical principles and develop practical recommendations to improve the techniques of social audit in agricultural organizations. Methods. Using the historical and systems approach, methods of induction, deduction, comparison, economic and statistical analysis, systematization and generalization of data, we reviewed modern methods of social audit and offered methodological tools to conduct it. Results. The paper presents basic procedures for conducting the social audit of agricultural organizations under modern conditions, and indicators to be used to monitor the change in the social position of the organization. The findings may be helpful for the theory and practice of audit. Conclusions. The absence of uniform principles and rules of social audit prevents from applying its findings and recommendations to generate corporate social reporting. When developing the techniques of social audit, it is important to take into account industry characteristics of activities, scale of operation and number of personnel, and the geographical location of the auditee

Anadil veya yabanci dil öğretiminde kaynak olarak kullanilan ders kitaplarinda; hem dinleme becerisini geliştirmek hem de mevcut dinleme yetisinden faydalanarak dil öğretimini gerçekleştirmek maksadıyla hazırlanmış dinleme kayıtları (CD, kaset çalar, mp3), dinleme metinleri ve bunlarla ilgili pekiştirici etkinlikler yer almaktadır. Bu kaynaklarm kaliteli olması ve 6zenle hazırlanması, verimli ve kalıcı bir dil öğretimi sürecinin gerçekleşmesi agrisindan hayati 6nem tasimaktadir. Bu çalışmada Yabancılara Türkçe öğretiminde kaynak kitap olarak kullanilan Anadolu Ders Kitaplarindan Al ve A2 seviyesi ogrencileri icin hazirlanan kitaplar dinleme metinleri açısından incelenmistir. Incelemede, nitel arastirma yéntemlerinden metin analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu incelemeler ve analizler sırasında, toplam 299 dinleme kaydı ve etkinlikleriyle birlikte verilen 35 dinleme kaydı Diller İçin Avrupa Ortak Başvuru Metninde Al ve A2 seviyesi için belirlenen kriterlere göre analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Dinleme metinlerinin ve bu metinlere ait dinleme kayitlarinin söz konusu kriterlere büyük ölçüde uygunluk gösterdiği tespit edilmistir. Araştırma neticesinde tespit edilen eksikliklerin giderildiğine incelenen ders kitaplarının yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretiminde daha faydalı olacağı kanaatine varılmıştır

Estimating Student’s Motivation Level from Accumulated Data in The Context of Learning

Teachers should identify students with low academic motivation as early as possible, just as they should identify those with an extremely high level of motivation. The purpose of this article is to identify the influence of academic motivation on behavior in learning management systems (LMS) courses as a means of developing a classification model to predict students’ academic motivation. The research was conducted by students studying on the online platform eduway.kz. The classifiers were created using machine learning methods (ANN, decision trees aud SVM). To determine if there was a significant difference between the models, a t-test was conducted. While all classifier models were successful in predicting motivation based on students’ behavior in a learning management system course, the neural network model had the highest success rate
Gaps in EFL Achievement, Proficiency and Classroom Behavior among students with Kazakh versus Russian Language of Instruction: Evidence from rural public school in Kazakhstan
No full textThe study is devoted to how English is studied by students whose language of instruction is Kazakh or Russian. I use administrative data from a rural school to explore differences in English achievement, proficiency, and classroom behavior of students who study in Kazakh and in Russian. My findings show that there are small gaps in these three aspects. While Kazakh-language students tend to have higher achievement grades, their proficiency is not much higher than that of Russian language students. Classroom behavior-wise, Kazakh language students talk less during class compared to their Russian language counterparts
