“A Sane Island in an Ocean of Madness”: A Case of Alternative Organisational Ethics Through Post-Growth Values
No full textInternational audienceUnprecedented runaway climate change and ecological degradation is argued to be caused by the dominant capitalist mode of production’s reliance on endless economic growth and capital accumulation. Businesses and organisations are expected to act in an ecologically and socially ethical way to help avert the crisis. Yet, there has arguably been little progress in this direction. The conventional ethical frameworks are generally subsumed under capitalism’s reliance on growth that effectively delegate business ethics to a peripheral and, often, contradictory pursuit, insufficient to influence ecologically and socially sustainable business conduct. We therefore explore an alternative approach by operationalising business ethics through organisational values from a post-growth perspective. By analysing the case of a social cooperative, we highlight how post-growth organisational values emerge through the organisation’s history, the members’ experience, and active contrasting to the dominant capitalist value systems. We contribute to business ethics scholarship by highlighting the potential of post-growth organisational ethics and values in creating contrasts to the dominant capitalist values. Our research further contributes to sustainability scholarship, particularly post-growth perspectives, by highlighting that organising through post-growth values in contrast to the dominant economic system is not only possible, but essential to achieve sustainability. Ultimately, our research illustrates the need for political engagement in upholding organisational ethics, in the face of the ecological crisis

No full textProductions des groupes thématiques numériques (Direction dunumérique pour l’éducation du Ministère de l’Education nationale et de la Jeunesse)This experience notebook occupies a special place within the GTnum #DEFI (GTnum 2021-2024, theme “Data literacy: evolution of skills, educational, pedagogical and ethical issues, perspectives for training”) because it responds to a problem related to that of data literacy: that of the activity of documenting the task to be carried out by learners. This issue emerged transversally throughout the experiments carried out to test work around data in a training context. It therefore seemed relevant to us to highlight this issue in a notebook in that it can answer the questions that other trainers involved in these approaches encounter or encounter.Ce cahier d’expérience occupe une place particulière au sein du GTnum #DEFI (GTnum 2021-2024 sur le thème "Littératie des données : évolution des compétences, enjeux éducatifs, pédagogiques et éthiques, perspectives pour la formation") car il répond à une problématique connexe à celle de la littératie des données : celle de l’activité de documentation de la tâche à effectuer par les apprenants. Cette problématique a émergé de manière transversale au fil des expériences conjointement menées pour expérimenter les travaux autour des données en contexte de formation. Aussi il nous a paru pertinent de valoriser cette problématique dans un cahier en ce qu’elle peut répondre à des interrogations que rencontrent ou rencontreront d’autres formateurs investis dans ces démarches

No full textInternational audienceWe conducted a study on the spontaneous production of feminine counterparts for three categories of job names among native speakers of French. These categories include «stable» job names, which have one established masculine and feminine form, «unstable» job names, which have one established masculine form with multiple feminine forms, and «epicene» job names, which use the same form for both male and female protagonists. We aimed to identify possible sources that explain the linguistic irregularity and instability of some feminine forms, including language use, linguistic competence of native speakers, and sociological profiles such as social gender, age, profession, and territory. Data were collected through a pen and paper questionnaire from 94 participants. The results revealed that one third of the produced feminine forms completely resisted feminization, confirming the presence of a male bias as described in previous literature (e.g. Gygax & Gabriel, 2008). Furthermore, our data clarified that the male bias effect creates a conflict between male social norms and participants awareness of the ongoing political trend to increase the visibility of women in society

No full textInternational audienceThis conference, at the intersection of fundamental and action-oriented research, examines the theoretical, methodological, and practical frameworks for understanding interactions between humans and non-human animals in urban environments. It marks the conclusion of the research program “Wild in the City: When Wild Boars and Forest Fauna Blur Boundaries,” led by UMR 5319 Passages and building on previous work in animal geography and related studies. The event brought together around thirty multidisciplinary contributions (geography, anthropology, ecology, veterinary science, biology, law, and architecture), organized around four themes: sensitive approaches, epistemology, methods, and public policy, fostering cross-disciplinary insights into human–urban wildlife coexistence.À l’interface entre recherche fondamentale et recherche-action, ce colloque explore les cadres théoriques, méthodologiques et pratiques permettant d’analyser les interactions entre humains et animaux non humains en milieu urbain. Il marque la clôture du programme de recherche « Sauvage en ville, quand le sanglier et la faune des forêts brouillent les frontières », porté par l’UMR 5319 Passages et s’inscrivant dans la continuité de travaux sur la géographie animale, ou autour de l’animal. L’événement a réuni une trentaine de contributions multidisciplinaires (géographie, anthropologie, écologie, sciences vétérinaires, biologie, droit et architecture), organisées autour de quatre axes : approches sensibles, épistémologie, méthodes et politiques publiques, permettant ainsi de nourrir des réflexions croisées sur la coexistence entre humains et faune urbaine

No full textInternational audienceThe diagnostic journey for endometriosis is a long and winding road. Years of consultations, minimised pain, missed diagnoses. This reality affects millions of women in France. While the diagnostic journey for endometriosis is common, it does not affect all women in the same way. For immigrant women from sub-Saharan Africa living with endometriosis in France, their journey to diagnosis and treatment may involve additional obstacles, such as language barriers, administrative precariousness and socio-economic vulnerability. We are taking a qualitative approach, conducting around forty biographical interviews in the Île-de-France region. These interviews will be conducted with women born in sub-Saharan Africa who have been diagnosed with endometriosis and live in the Île-de-France region. These women's life stories will provide insight into their experiences, their relationship with the healthcare system, the obstacles they encounter, the strategies they use to adapt, as well as the resources they mobilise and their experiential knowledge. Our findings should enable us to formulate operational recommendations for adapting prevention programmes and improving the diagnosis and management of endometriosis in specific populations. Endometriosis should not be considered solely as a biomedical issue; sufferers may be affected by social inequalities that influence their care pathways and quality of life.Le parcours diagnostic de l'endométriose est un parcours d'errance. Des années de consultations, de douleurs minimisées, de diagnostics manqués. Cette réalité touche des millions de femmes en France. Si l'errance diagnostique de l'endométriose est commune, elle ne touche pas toutes les femmes de la même manière. Pour les femmes immigrées d'Afrique subsaharienne atteintes d’endométriose en France, leurs parcours diagnostic et de prise en charge de l’endométriose peut avoir d’autres obstacles à savoir des barrières linguistiques, une précarité administrative, une vulnérabilité socio-économique. Nous adoptons une approche qualitative, avec la réalisation d’environ quarante entretiens biographiques, en Région Île-de-France. Ces entretiens seront menés avec des femmes nées en Afrique subsaharienne, diagnostiquées d'endométriose et vivants en Région Île-de-France. Les récits de vie de ces femmes permettront de comprendre leur vécu, leur rapport au système de santé, les obstacles qu’elles rencontrent, les stratégies qu’elles déploient pour s’adapter, mais aussi les ressources qu’elles mobilisent et leurs savoirs expérientiels. Nos résultats doivent permettre de formuler des recommandations opérationnelles pour adapter les programmes de prévention, améliorer le diagnostic et la prise en charge de l’endométriose chez les populations spécifiques. L’endométriose ne doit pas être considérée seulement comme un enjeu biomédical ; les personnes malades peuvent être marquées par des inégalités sociales qui influencent leurs trajectoires de soins et leurs qualité de vie

No full textInternational audienceLa sinologie française, née au XVIIe siècle dans le sillage des missionnaires jésuites et les érudits, a constitué une passerelle unique entre la Chine et l'Europe. pendant longtemps, elle s'est attaché à l'étude des textes classiques, à la philosophie et à la traduction, ouvrant aux savants européens un accès inédit aux langue et à la pensée chinoises. aujourd'hui, les études chinoises se déploient dans un cadre bien plus large : elle associent histoire, philosophie, linguistique, sciences sociales, relations internationales, études culturelles, répondant aux enjeux d'un monde globalisé. Ma communication propose à la jeune génération de réfléchir à cet héritage et à sa transmission. comment la tradition savante de la sinologie peut-elle nourrir nos recherches contemporaines? comment l'étude de la Chine, hier, centrées sur les textes, peut-elle aujourd'hui contribuer à comprendre les dynamiques culturelles, politiques et intellectuelles du présent et de l'avenir?
