    No full text

    No full text
International audienceThis systematic literature review shows that similarities and divergences emerge between entrepreneurs, whether they are disabled or not. First, some reasons leading to entrepreneurship, as well as factors inherent to business creation and development, are common to all entrepreneurs to varying degrees of intensity. Secondly, disability and the needs it creates can indeed be motivating factors for entrepreneurship, even if some support is needed at different stages of the entrepreneurial process in order to facilitate the transition to action. Recommendations and avenues of research are explored in the conclusion.

Dynamic Communities: A Novel Recommendation Approach for Individuals and Groups

    No full text
International audienceAs user preferences rapidly and continually evolve, it becomes crucial to incorporate these temporal dynamics in the design of recommender systems. This paper proposes a novel dynamic and overlapping community-based recommender system framework, which considers the evolving nature of users’ preferences to suggest items distinctly for both individuals and groups. Using temporal networks to capture the dynamic interplay of users’ interests, we apply dynamic community detection techniques to identify similar items, thereby addressing scalability issues. To cater to group recommendation scenarios, the framework leverages users’ satisfaction with similar items, thereby mitigating data sparsity and delivering a broad range of recommendations. Experimental results show that the proposed system outperforms state-of-the-art approaches in terms of recommendation accuracy for both individual and group recommendations

Time-varying Causality among Whisky, Wine, and Equity Markets

    No full text
International audienceWhisky has entered the category of alternative investment assets, with particularly attractive returns on certain bottles. The literature has shown the diversification benefits of investing in collectible assets, such as fine wine, but analyses dedicated to whisky investment remain scarce. Using different causality tests – parametric, non-parametric, and time-varying – applied to whisky, wine, and the MSCI World indices, we analyze the connection/disconnection between rare whisky, fine wine, and financial markets over a 13-Year period, from January 2010 to January 2023, in weekly frequency. Our results show that whisky and wine respectively provide attractive diversification opportunities when combined with stocks, except during “hectic” periods. Conversely, the combination of whisky and wine appears to be riskier in terms of portfolio diversification, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic

Reconceiving vulnerabilities in relations of care how to account for and deal with carers’ vulnerabilities

    No full text
International audienceWhile carers’ vulnerability has often been neglected in the literature, the recent COVID-19 pandemic brought this issue to the fore. This article explores why it has been so often ignored and how could it be dealt with differently. It does so in the form of a philosophical and conceptual investigation illustrated by various examples and situations, related primarily, but not exclusively, to the COVID period. Criticising a property-based view, and based on examples of carers’ vulnerability during the pandemic, our investigation suggests that carers’ vulnerability is relationally constructed and played out on multiple interwoven dimensions that may contradict each other. Our examples also suggest that the relational construction of vulnerabilities is socially and organisationally mediated, calling for the development of social and organisational forms of mediation that may help carers deal with their vulnerabilities. Second, and rather counterintuitively with regard to the COVID-period, we question the negative valence usually associated with vulnerability and analyse how this affects ways of dealing with carers’ vulnerabilities and the co-creation of care. Finally, following Gilson (2014), we propose an ambivalent, relational conception of vulnerability, considered as ‘openness to affectation by’ and offer some theoretical and practical implications. Theoretically, this conception also allows us to consider such openness as an ability that may nurture carers’ ‘response-ability’. It also allows us to develop specific relational ethics for and in care relationships. Practically, this reconceptualisation may help carers better embrace and process their vulnerabilities, including responses to negative affectations following exposure to carees. It may also facilitate their ‘reception’ of carees, and help cocreate and adapt responses to carees’ calls, thus avoiding paternalistic responses

Les organisations du travail sont-elles condamnées à la bêtise ?

    No full text

Techno‐eustress creators: Conceptualization and empirical validation

    No full text
International audienceAbstract Technostress is an inevitable part of work life. This paper takes a step toward mastering it by focusing on positive stress that Information Systems (IS) creates for IS users, known as techno‐eustress. Factors that create techno‐eustress are known as techno‐eustress creators, which we conceptualise as cognitions experienced by IS users, that IS positively challenges and motivates them to enhance their work. They are important to study because they represent foundational opportunities for professional achievement and growth emanating from IS use. Drawing from theories of psychological eustress, self‐determination and proactive work, this paper theorises and validates an instrument to measure techno‐eustress creators. We establish the construct's validity and examine its nomological relationships based on data collected from working professionals who used IT for their work. We draw on data from two qualitative studies ( N = 35) and three quantitative surveys ( N = 980) conducted at different points in time. We validate techno‐eustress creators as a second‐order reflective construct having four dimensions: techno‐mastery, techno‐autonomy, techno‐enrichment and techno‐relatedness. We examine its nomological relationships with factors that create techno‐distress, IT strain, and user satisfaction. We contribute to the literature by theorising and validating four ways in which IS users are challenged and motivated by IS to enhance their work. We inform to managerial practice by drawing attention to how organisations can strengthen the different ways employees experience the creators of the ‘good’ stress that use of IS generates

Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Actuarial Sciences and Finance

    No full text
International audienceThe book presents a collection of peer-reviewed short papers selected from those presented at the International Conference Mathematical and Statistical Methods for Actuarial Sciences and Finance – MAF2024. The year 2024 marks the twentieth anniversary of the first edition of this conference. The idea behind this book is that collaboration and cross-pollination between mathematicians and statisticians working in actuarial sciences and finance could enhance research in these fields. The effectiveness of this concept has been demonstrated by widespread participation across all editions, held at various locations including the University of Salerno, Italy (2004, 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022); Ca' Foscari University of Venice, Italy (2008, 2012, and 2020); University Paris-Dauphine in Paris, France (2016); University Carlos III of Madrid, Madrid (2018); and University of Le Havre Normandie, Le Havre, France (2024). This effectiveness is also evident in the attention consistently shown by both the scientific community and professionals toward the volumes of peer-reviewed papers accompanying all past editions of MAF.The book is a valuable resource for academics, researchers, Ph.D. students, and professionals. Furthermore, it is also of interest to other readers with a quantitative background

Multi-Objective Production Rescheduling: A Systematic Literature Review

    No full text
International audienceProduction rescheduling involves re-optimizing production schedules in response to disruptions that render the initial schedule inefficient or unfeasible. This process requires simultaneous consideration of multiple objectives to develop new schedules that are both efficient and stable. However, existing review papers have paid limited attention to the multi-objective optimization techniques employed in this context. To address this gap, this paper presents a systematic literature review on multi-objective production rescheduling, examining diverse shop-floor environments. Adhering to the PRISMA guidelines, a total of 291 papers were identified. From this pool, studies meeting the inclusion criteria were selected and analyzed to provide a comprehensive overview of the problems tackled, dynamic events managed, objectives considered, and optimization approaches discussed in the literature. This review highlights the primary multi-objective optimization methods used in relation to rescheduling strategies and the dynamic disruptive events studied. Findings reveal a growing interest in this research area, with “a priori” and “a posteriori” optimization methods being the most commonly implemented and a notable rise in the use of the latter. Hybridized algorithms have shown superior performance compared to standalone algorithms by leveraging combined strengths and mitigating individual weaknesses. Additionally, “interactive” and “Pareto pruning” methods, as well as the consideration of human factors in flexible production systems, remain under-explored
