Hite began as a student at SLAV, and in 1962 received his teaching certificate in Trade and Industrial Education and began his teaching career in the Barbering department at SLTTI in 1962. This was the date that President Richard Nixon proclaimed as a national day of mourning in honor of Former President Eisenhower. Governor Rampton had asked Utah Schools to conduct memorial services. President Jay L. Nelson delivered the Moment of Silence and Comments portion of the program.
