This story can help children understand how to cope with anxiety. Included in the story are interactions with bullies to teach children how to face their fears with confidence. The characters in the story are familiar to children who can see themselves within the writing if they are facing these challenges

This story explores the minds of children and the imagination that they possess within themselves. This book would classify as nonfiction because it is based on real events that took place in my childhood. It is appropriate for readers in the third grade. While this nonfiction story teaches a lesson, it is also combined with humorous aspects

    The purpose for writing this story is to share a very important part of my culture, because it is important to be the voice of the Louisiana children that they can relate to. I want the Creole and Cajun little boys and girls to feel seen and accurately represented. As a Creole child growing up in Louisiana, I cannot remember a time where I had the feeling “Wow, they are just like me!” or, “I know that place, I’ve been there!” Nothing written in/about Louisiana resonated with me, which is a genuine issue. Louisiana literature does not have to portray swamps, bayous, or food like Louisiana crawfish. The purpose is to show underrepresented cultures, like Creole in Louisiana who are missing in Louisiana children’s literature. The author’s purpose is to write with authenticity of character, whether they look like them, or identify with their personality. This chapter is a work of humorous fiction to include Louisiana locations and language. This story is grade level 3 appropriate, the tone of this story is mischievous, determined, and retaliating

    The purpose of this story is to document real Louisiana stories for young children. There are so many young students in Louisiana, and it is very important that these children experience storytelling that expresses their own culture. True Louisiana culture is very different from lots of the stereotypes that are shown in most Louisiana literature. I feel it is important for young students to read about real Louisiana culture. I would classify this book as a true story based on my childhood where I spent lots of time at my grandparent’s house with my sister and my cousins. This is a story of my life growing up in Southern Louisiana. This story is appropriate for all young children, and I believe it is important for young children to hear real stories about Louisiana. This is a dramatic and humorous retelling of events in my childhood, it is lighthearted and fun for young children to read

    Egalitarian Nationalism\u27s Contribution to the Rise and Fall of Athens\u27 Democracy: the Criticisms of Athenian Democracy from the Old Oligarch, Plato, and Aristotle

    The purpose of this research is to determine how combining radical egalitarianism and nationalism to create radical democracy can lead to the destruction of society. Politics are for the purpose of protecting the common good, but individual liberties are sometimes necessary for the preservation of the common good based on the continual flux of social contexts. However, too much individualism can lead to the rise of tyrannical collectivism. Karl Popper termed this problem of too much toleration as “the paradox of tolerance.” Once everything becomes tolerable, there is little to no hope that anyone can guarantee anything. Absolute toleration will tolerate intolerable ideas to plague society, which would threaten liberty. In this research, there was a study of how Athens allowed too much toleration, leading to the rise of an ochlocracy. Research included scholarly books of Ancient Greece and Athens made from ancient and contemporary historians. There were also a use of political philosophy works from ancient philosophers and scholarly commentaries of those philosophers’ ideas from contemporary academics. Plus, contemporary works of psychology, nationalism, and the connection of psychology to nationalism were part of the research to understand the background of the mindset of the Athenian nationalists prior to and during the corruption of democracy in Athens. However, there also included scholarly works to challenge the claim that the Athenians were intemperate and full of envy in order to either defend or revise the thesis and prevent bias

    Using Situational Analysis to Reimagine Infrastructure

    In this article, we ask what it means to think of infrastructure discursively through situational analysis. First, we consider how policymakers have historically used writing and rhetoric to redefine, reframe, and resituate what infrastructure can be in technical documents. Second, we address the impact of policymakers’ discursive practices on the spaces and material realities of communities. We view the infrastructural function of writing “as a conceptual foundation for revealing structures and foundations of organizations that affect people” (Read, 2019, p. 237). We use three texts as the space of our discourse mapping: President Franklin Roosevelt’s “Fireside Chat on the Recovery Program,” the Green New Deal, and President Joseph Biden’s recently proposed American Jobs Plan. Through these three cases, we argue that infrastructure has always been defined in relation to environment. Any definition of infrastructure is rooted in environment or seeks to change environment. These shifts in definition have been used strategically to bring more visibility to marginalized communities and make their concerns central to the concerns of the United States’ socio-economic agenda. We close with implications for both communities and policymakers
