This, the last miniature built by Brother Joseph, was completed on the hundredth year from the time that the Blessed Virgin appeared to a little peasant girl on 18 occasions. Miraculous cures have taken place in Lourdes, for people with diseases believed to be incurable. Old Bercham Mills (1993)
Located just south of Central High School about 1 mi. East of Pleasant Hills Methodist Church about 1 quarter mi. The mill stood on south side of Bercham Creek on land belonging to Jack Broadfoot. Jack owned the land of south side of creek and Tom Broadfoot owned the land on the north side of the creek. This is beside the creek just before one crosses [the] old bridge on Highway 200. I\u27ve been told that Jack Simmons put in the mill in the beginning. There was a grist mill, blacksmith shop, [and] a cotton gin.
Some older people think this was discontinued and moved after World War I.
The gin was moved in part to Treets [misspelled?] Cross Roads probably on Lindsey Creek. Harper Austin and his brother had it until it was discontinued. Parts of this gin was later a part of the gin that Luther and Granville Simmons owned at Cloverdale, AL.
Many of the names in and around the area were Lovelaces, Haddocks, Dodges, Robinsons, Palmers, Blackburns, Beirs, McIntyres, Murphys, Devoneys, Rhodes, etc, ect.
