No full textMembership value within professional dental organizations remains a critical issue as local and state societies face declining market shares, often below 40 percent. In contrast, the Macomb Dental Society currently maintains a market share of approximately 63 percent, underscoring both its relative strength and the need for continued innovation. Historically, membership was driven by professional obligation; however, newer dentists, burdened by financial pressures, are less likely to renew without clear demonstration of tangible benefits. To address this challenge, the Macomb Dental Society has explored initiatives that enhance member engagement, including leveraging existing study clubs as a conduit for continuing education (CE), mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Rather than establishing new study clubs, the Society aims to serve as a gateway, increasing awareness of current opportunities and facilitating participation across specialties. A forthcoming survey will assess study club prevalence, participation, costs, and logistics, with the goal of positioning Macomb as a hub for member value. Future plans include certification options and potential incentives to encourage involvement. By fostering collaboration among specialties and strengthening mentorship opportunities, the initiative seeks to reinforce the value of membership, enhance professional development, and ultimately improve patient care

Asthma is one such condition and, as such, all dental professionals must be familiar with its triggers, recognize the signs and symptoms of an asthma attack, know what to do when an asthma attack occurs, and be familiar with strategies to mitigate the likelihood and severity of an asthma attack.
