    Bridging the Gap: Reforming International Adaptation Finance through Global North-South Collaboration

    Adaptation finance remains the underfunded pillar of climate action. Despite repeated commitments, including the COP 26 pledge to double adaptation finance by 2025, current international mechanisms are failing to reach the most vulnerable. This paper examines how the Global North can work more equitably and effectively with Global South partners to transform adaptation finance into a system that is just, accessible, and impact driven. It identifies three major obstacles: imbalance in funding flows, top-down governance of finance institutions, and the lack of localised, inclusive implementation. Drawing on Global North initiatives such as the International Climate Finance (ICF) programme, the Taskforce on Access to Climate Finance, and support for Locally Led Adaptation Principles, the paper offers practical proposals. These include promoting direct access modalities, building capacity through South-South and triangular cooperation, improving the transparency and predictability of adaptation finance, and rebalancing the mitigation-adaptation split. With COP30 approaching, the Global North has a strategic opportunity to realign its climate diplomacy and funding priorities to deliver on the promises of Paris, restore trust with the Global South, and make adaptation a shared global responsibility

    Our policy paper here is going to explore the urgent need to recognise and enhance the participation and integration of indigenous communities in global climate cases and discussions in decision making processes , despite their contribution now….we are focusing on their case now because they are the most Affected by its impacts , due to their strong connection to natural eco systems , their traditional knowledge and their practices are essential for the biodiversity conservation and sustainable resource management but , unfortunately there was a systemic exclusion due to some factors and limiting and representation in in climate conferences such as preventing them to influence direct policies that are already directly impacting their lives on land but , also before saying who got the right to what we have to fully understand and know the whole story to be aware of the steps we are going to take for their rights, this paper advocates for the legal recognition not only the presentation of their rights , the inclusion of our voices in international climate negotiations , by centering indigenous leadership the global community can advance climate justice and uphold human rights , for Equity and for wisdom

    The Path to a Green Transition: Just and Inclusive

    This paper explores the opportunities and challenges in achieving Just Transition in the agricultural sector, focusing on the critical areas of Climate investments in the field of training and public awareness, policy formulation, and promoting Inclusive sustainable livelihoods for the most affected groups, namely people with disabilities. It highlights the current gaps in Climate investments, the need for inclusive and effective policies, and the importance of ways to achieve just integration to reduce Poverty and unemployment rates. The paper proposes actionable solutions to align financial investments, policy frameworks, and Comprehensive practices with the Paris Agreement goals and Glasgow talks (COP26), drawing from expert analyses, case studies, and Suggestions from people with disabilities. These include increasing climate investment through inclusive integration, policy incentives, and capacity building, as well as the importance of focusing on infrastructure, providing universal access to climate information, and developing disaster and emergency response plans for people with disabilities. The case study of India’s UJJWAL Project serves as an opportunity for learning, training, and potential scale-up for Just Green transition and providing financial support to persons with disabilities, necessary to achieve the 2030 capacity building and ACE goals

    Water Management System to Mitigate Flood Hazard and Facing Water Scarcity in Sinai Peninsula

    Water scarcity is a global problem that threatens our life on Earth. Unfortunately, this problem becomes more serious over time. Moreover, climate change makes this problem more serious than before. According to the Fifth Assessment Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), around 80% of the global population will experience water scarcity by 2050, and around 1.8 billion people will be living in regions suffering from water scarcity. This threat to human beings becomes closer to us than ever before due to the increase in population and the immense negative impact of climate change. Especially in arid and semi-arid regions, as rainfall can’t be expected, leading to flash floods which result in devastating effects on infrastructure and loss of lives. One of the areas most prone to this crisis is the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, especially Egypt (Ezzeldin et al., 2022a). Egypt suffers from severe water stress. Additionally, Egypt is expected to have only 536 cubic meters per person per year by 2025, which is below the water poverty threshold. To address this issue, we should shift to groundwater. Sadly, groundwater continues to decline due to overexploitation and deficiency in groundwater reserves (Ezzeldin et al., 2022a). Our need for a sustainable source of water and a management system is no longer a luxury option; it is a decision that will determine our future on Earth. Scientists in recent decades found the Sinai Peninsula is the best option for research studies because of its unique arid region, where climate, physiography, geomorphology, and lithostructural features are interconnected in a way that enables us to apply our latest research. In this research, it will discuss the different mechanisms of flood harvesting in order to mitigate its detrimental effect on infrastructure, besides using it as a sustainable source of fresh water.     Youth and Gender Equity in Decision Making

    With the COP30 choosing “mutirão”, which means collective community work, as their central theme (COP30, 2024), the president of the conference in Brazil emphasizes that it’s an opportunity to connect global actions and create a mobilization chain of the expertise of people from various communities and from different sectors to move from negotiation to concrete action (COP30, 2024). This cannot be done without a proper representation of all the underrepresented communities of young people and women, as discussed in the Sharm El-Sheikh Adaptation Agenda (SAA). This paper explores the ongoing challenges of inclusive representation in decision-making spaces like the COP. It also highlights the struggles of the youth with being marginalized in climate policymaking despite being the ones who will be implementing these climate policies. Moreover, It explores the crises of gender equity in climate decision-making and, as I like to call it, the curse of the 30% that has been hunting women\u27s representation for more than a decade. Furthermore, it explores a case study of the annual COP simulation organized by the British University in Egypt and the UNDP Egypt, and it’s impact on youth representation and gender equity in climate policymaking, and finally some recommendations and solutions that can be implemented at future COPs

    Morocco holds over 70% of the world’s phosphate reserves, making the sector a linchpin of its economy and a lifeline for global agriculture. Yet, phosphate processing is also one of Morocco’s most carbon-intensive activities, producing around 20 million tonnes of CO₂ every year, almost a third of the nation’s total greenhouse gas emissions. This policy paper reimagines the phosphate industry not as a climate liability but as a launchpad for Morocco’s green industrial future. By harnessing renewable energy, pioneering advanced processing technologies, and embedding circular economy principles, Morocco can transform its phosphate sector into a carbon-neutral export powerhouse. The result would be an industry that drives economic growth, cut phosphate-related emissions by up to 95%, create thousands of green jobs, and secure premium access to global markets increasingly demanding low-carbon products

    Sparking Change: Building Local Technical Capacity For Climate Resilience and Energy Access

    Globally, 666.5 million people still lack access to electricity, the vast majority residing in rural areas in the Global South. The same communities are also among the most vulnerable to climate change, facing rising temperatures, extreme weather and environmental degradation - yet they lack the energy resources needed to adapt and build resilience. Community-led distributed renewable energy (DRE) systems, from household solar to community mini-grids, can help accelerate the global adoption of renewable energy while empowering the most marginalized communities to have the capacity to lead the transition. For these systems to be sustainable, communities must be paired with direct funding and strong local technical capacity developed through regional training and innovation centers. This brief outlines a three-pillar approach to ensure that rural communities, and women in particular, are empowered to lead the renewable energy transition. While previous work has treated funding mechanisms, regional training hubs, and innovation in isolation, this will consider a synergistic network of the three pillars
