Elementos de práticas feudais “ontem” e “hoje” o que o Sul Global tem a ver com isso?
No full textO presente trabalho explora a busca da historiografia, assim como outras ciências em demonstrarem a incessante ânsia de certos grupos, em várias sociedades e em certos contextos – obcecados em se apoderarem de terras – e objetivamente de grandes extensões de terras. Vale dizer que não podemos generalizar tal fenômeno e as observações do referido. Entretanto, também não o podemos negá-lo e deixá-lo à revelia e sem qualquer reflexão e problematização. Sendo assim, podemos observar e dizer que desde a antiguidade até o período moderno, parece haver práticas de exploração e expropriação associadas ao controle de terras por pequenos grupos em detrimento de muitos. Ou seja, o poder, posse, expropriação e exploração de grandes latifundiários sobre grupos, sociedades e sujeitos com “pouca terra” ou sem nenhuma terra. Aqui o com grandes extensões de terras ou sem elas, diz respeito ao sentido de posse, controle, domínio e poder sobre a terra. Logo, a investigação analisa contextos e práticas feudais na Roma Antiga, no sistema feudal do medievo e suas práticas, e as práticas de “feudos” na modernidade, no qual as classificamos em três tipos: as eruditas, as rústicas e as “modernas.” Observa-se que o capitalismo reformulou essas dinâmicas e práticas feudais, porém, mantendo a essência da posse e exploração desigual de terras. O texto também aborda as continuidades e rupturas entre práticas romanas e o sistema feudal europeu, e este influenciando colonizações e processos de neocolonialismo. Ou seja, desde a prática do sistema feudal europeu enquanto povos considerados bárbaros antes dos séculos IV-V d.C., passando pela configuração da Europa dos séculos XII-XIV d.C. e adentrando pela era moderna dos séculos XV em diante com os movimentos e processos “das grandes navegações,” colonizações, dos mercantilismos e capitalismos europeu e Ocidental pós séculos XVII em diante. Sendo assim, utilizando o materialismo histórico-dialético sem ortodoxia, a abordagem aqui considera múltiplas influências sociais, culturais, políticas e religiosas nas transformações sociais, indo além do aspecto econômico. Ou seja, do físico ao abstrato, do material ao imaterial. Do objetivo ao subjetivo. Todas elas se influenciam e são influenciadas nos e durante os processos históricos e suas transformações e mudanças. Essas são nossas perspectivas e olhares para tais eventos e fenômenos analisados: as práticas de feudos eruditos, os rústicos e os modernos-pós-modernos. Como instrumento metodológico de observação, análises e coleta das informações o trabalho fez uso do materialismo histórico-dialético. O trabalho se constituí em uma obra bibliográfica e de revisão da literatura, com novas abordagens, reflexões, problematizações e perspectivas. Quantum Security Threat Discovery: A Value Sensitive Design Approach to Discovering Security Risks of Quantum Sensing at the Port of Moerdijk
No full textThis paper investigates the application of Security Threat Discovery Cards (STDCs) for identifying security risks in quantum sensing technologies within port security contexts. With the advent of quantum technologies, organizations and stakeholders face the challenge to explore and assess the impact of the applications these technologies will bring. This exploration faces the perceived incomprehensibility of quantum technologies, and suggests a preliminary step aimed at understanding these technologies. Our results suggest that organizations and companies considering the application of quantum technology can skip this preliminary step and independently identify their main risks of quantum applications in a nuanced manner. Our case is an exploration of quantum sensing application by Port security personnel with the STDCs. The research consisted of two independent empirical studies: a workshop with Port of Moerdijk personnel using STDCs and semi-structured interviews with security experts. The comparative analysis of the findings from these studies demonstrates the STDCs’ efficacy in revealing with the Port’s personnel assessment of nuanced risks beyond the experts’ foresight. For example, the interviews with experts raised concerns regarding governance, ethical implications, and the human factor in quantum technology integration. The workshop with personnel not only suggested similar concerns but also uncovered additional risks, including socio-technical threats and broader societal impacts

No full textAccording to Maite Ezcurdia, demonstratives are directly referential expressions with complex linguistic meanings. This distinction between levels of meaning resulting from her analysis of how different types and uses of demonstratives anaphorically interact leads her to conclude that simple demonstratives are non-compositionally complex, while complex demonstratives are so, partially, due to composition. In this article, I both extend her methodology and discuss her conclusions. I argue that the distinction between demonstratives results from how different types of contexts of use work to select the referent, not from semantic composition. As Maite taught us, complexity isn’t always compositional

No full textThe first formulations of Impossible Probability date from 11 September 2001. My first formula would be the Impact of the Defect. Later, on 16 October 2002, the Second Method would appear, laying the foundations of the distinction between empirical and theoretical probability. I worked intensely until 2004. Between 2004 and 19 December 2009 I would pause my mathematical frenzy, and it was not until 19 December 2009 that I returned, this time with the intention of publishing Introduction to Impossible Probability, Statistics of Probability or Statistical Probability, whose publication materialized only a few months after the death of José Rodríguez Delgado, although Delgado did have the opportunity to see the first works published online in this Impossible Probability blog. This makes this blog a fundamental piece for understanding our work, our legacy and, most importantly, regardless of our names—which matter little—the truly essential: our seed of the future, our eternal gratitude, a work of intelligence that will lay the foundations of the future technological society.
The documents presented here express the evolution of a work, Impossible Probability, and the spirit of survival of its author, indomitable and rebellious like a five-pointed star

A Comprehensive Review of Gen AI Agents: Applications and Frameworks in Finance, Investments and Risk Domains
No full textAbstract : This paper surveys the landscape of AI agent frameworks, highlights their core features and differences, and explores their applications in financial services. We synthesize insights from recent industry reports, academic research, and technical blog posts, focusing on frameworks such as CrewAI, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, and others. We also discuss the challenges and opportunities of deploying agentic AI in production environments, with an emphasis on financial trading, investment analysis, and decision support. We analyze the rapidly evolving landscape of agentic AI systems, focusing on their architecture, capabilities, and practical implementations in banking, trading, and risk management. The study examines prominent frameworks including LangGraph for stateful agent orchestration, CrewAI for collaborative multi-agent workflows, and AutoGen for conversational agent systems, alongside industry platforms like IBM watsonx and NVIDIA NIM. The study examines both technical frameworks (LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, etc.) and practical implementations in financial institutions. We highlight productivity gains (up to 80% time reduction in data tasks), risk management improvements, and workforce transformation challenges. The paper concludes with recommendations for financial institutions adopting agentic AI solutions. Our analysis reveals three key findings: (1) specialized agent frameworks achieve 50-80% productivity gains in financial data tasks compared to traditional approaches, (2) multi-agent systems demonstrate particular promise in complex domains like algorithmic trading and fraud detection, and (3) successful deployment requires addressing critical challenges in workforce upskilling, risk alignment, and regulatory compliance. The paper provides a theoretical foundation for agentic AI in finance, introducing formal models for agent design patterns, multimodal fusion, and market microfoundations. We further present a summary of several evaluation frameworks for assessing agent performance across financial use cases, including portfolio optimization and AML compliance. The study concludes with recommendations for financial institutions adopting agentic AI, emphasizing the need for standardized architectures, robust testing protocols, and hybrid human-AI workflows
Anxiety and the Incarnate Spirit: Michel Henry’s Analysis of Kierkegaard’s The Concept of Anxi
No full textMichel Henry (1922–2002) came to associate closely Kierkegaardian anxiety with his own way of thinking embodiment, eroticism, possibility and power, action, suffering, and selfhood in light of his perennial philosophy of radically immanent Life given by, and to, itself. The chapter shows that this development of the concept of anxiety under the terms of Henry’s unique philosophy takes place at greatest length in Incarnation. The chapter first traces Henry’s reading of The Concept of Anxiety in Incarnation. It then takes a more careful look at the theme of erotic desire, common to both Kierkegaard’s The Concept of Anxiety and Henry’s Incarnation, and analyzes the convergences and divergences between both writers. Finally, the chapter suggests further lines of potential inquiry on the subject of the erotic in Kierkegaard and Henry
