    Satisfaction rate with leisure time in a sample of academy of police force students

    Leisure time is an important part of university students’ lives and affects their quality oflives; that’s why the present study was aimed at examining satisfaction rate with leisure timein a sample of Academy of Police Force students. Research instrument of survey of satisfactionrate with leisure time was carried out through an intentional sampling with a surveygroup size of 439 (100 %) Academy of Police Force male (43.28 %, n = 190) and female (56.72%, n = 249) students (aged ± 21.50 years). Examining the satisfaction rate with leisure timewas carried out 2 mounts (June - July, 2022). Statistics; in particular, descriptive, and inferentialwas used to examine the data. After examining the data, average satisfaction rate withleisure time among university students was 3.77 out of five-point scale (p ˂ .05). Out of fivepointscale, active leisure among the university male (3.19) and female (2.52) students was2.86 (p ˂ .01). Passive leisure among the university students was 3.46 (p ˃ .05) (.07 difference).Satisfaction rate with leisure time in a sample of Academy of Police Force studentswas at a sufficient level (Mdn, 4). Active leisure (p ˂ .05) and social leisure (p ˂ .05) contributeto satisfaction rate with leisure time among the university male (43.28 %, n = 190); activeleisure (p ˂ .01) and passive leisure (p ˂ .01) among the university female students (56.72 %,n = 249).     Influence of gnostic and stereognostic functions on football activities

    Finding talent for sports is hard. Testing forthe selection of a talented child in footballis very common today. In our study wecompared gnostic function, test individualfootball gaming activities and evaluatetheir performance in matches. The sampleconsists of 23 football players in U12 andU13 category who participated in testing ofindividual gaming activities and gnosticabilities. Testing was performed during 4weeks beginning with participants whohave completed their game activities ofindividuals on artificial grass. Identitytesting from 4 tests – control ball, slalomwith ball, accuracy passing, accuracyshooting. After completing thisexamination, we tested the gnostic andstereognostic functions, which we thencompared to abovementioned tests.Gnostic functions were tested by 3standardized tests - kinesthesis test, bodyimage (foot), Petrie test. And another 3non-standardized (modified/invented byus) – step test, tread test a step calculationtest. Finally, we collected data about otherbeneficiaries during the 2019/2020 firstpart of season. Only moderate to weakcorrelation between slalom with ball andstep test (dominant DK) was found r = -0.39 and correlation between slalom withball and body image test (foot) r = 0,4.There was also found a significantcorrelation between the Preferred Test andthe Stage Test (non-dominant DK) r = 0.33;Examination of other tests correlatedbetween kinetics tests, for the dominantHK do r = 0.37. In our study, we have notshown significant correlations betweenindividual tests and neither between bothtests and performance during the match.We may recommend obtaining additionaldata that could bring valuable informationto the next study

    The sports field as well as other areas have suffered significant consequences from the COVID19 pandemic. Sport has learned to work even in difficult conditions. Primarily, however, sport suffered a large loss in viewership of live matches, which was also attributed to the worsening economic situation of the sport. Of course, in addition to the economic consequences, the pandemic had a significant impact on the deterioration of the health of the population. Sports science has been useful in ameliorating the consequences of the COVID19 pandemic. Sport and especially exercise play an important role in recovering from the effects of a pandemic. Physically, but also mentally. Sufficient physical activity plays a key role in maintaining the health of the population. Physical activity appears to play a key role in the recovery of multiple conditions. The optimal physical condition represents a protective role and leads to the strengthening of the immune response against several pathogens

    Role of the northern great plain region baths in wellness tourism and recreation in Hungary

    Hungary has very favorable conditions in the domestic andinternational health tourism market. In Europe we are counted as amedicinal water-great power. Nowhere else in the country there areso many beaches, aquaparks, adventure baths, slides, indoor anduncovered spa areas as in the Northern Great Plain region. Thedevelopment of health tourism in the region's tourism developmentstrategy is therefore the top priority. Since the development of healthtourism since 2000, the development of bath developments as atourist attraction has been given increased attention. As a result ofthe development new baths were created, the water surface wasincreased for existing baths, quality improvements were made, whichalso affected the designe elements of the environment. During spadevelopment, service enhancement has been of great importance asnew wellness items such as sauna programs, beauty services, andmassage items have emerged.     The predictions of the results in a race walking with the use of predictive models

    Aim. The issue of forecasting records in measurable sportsdisciplines has a very long tradition. For this purpose, methodsknown in mathematical statistics and econometrics are used. Todate, approximation theory has not been used to predict the futurecourse of the sports careers among athletes reaching phases ofrelative stabilization in their results. In this study, we presented ourown proposal for adapting predictive models in solving the signalledproblem. Basic procedures. Time series of the best results obtainedduring the 21-year sporting career of the three-time Olympicparticipant were analyzed. Using the method of least squares forapproximation of the results obtained up until the end of theobservation, based on the developed curve (parabola) and thenonlinear 2nd grade model (y = ax2+bx+c), we estimated furtherprospects for the development of sports championship in racewalkingfor 20 and 50 km distances. Research results.Characteristics of the sports biography provided valuable results tounderstand the development trends of the contemporary model of achampion in professional sports and to develop training andrecruitment concepts for future sports champions. Conclusions.Predictive models should be used both for forecasting thedevelopment of sports disciplines and planning the development ofcareers of players reaching a phase of relative stability in sportsperformance

    Occurrence of lower limb asymetries during deceleration in soccer players in the U19 category

    Objective: The main aim of the study was to identify asymmetries between the dominant and non-dominant lower limb during horizontal deceleration in youth soccer players playing at different playing positions. The research sample consisted of players of the Slovak Football Federation academies in the U19 age category (n=228). We tested the horizontal deceleration of the players by 15-0-5 change-of-direction test, which was performed on a 1080 Sprint adjustable motorized resistance device (1080 Motion, Lidingö, Sweden). For statistical analysis, we used descriptive statistics methods, Shapiro-wilk test for normality of data distribution, one-factor ANOVA test, paired t-test, and Cohen's d to determine the effect size. We did not observe statistically significant asymmetries between players at each player position (forwards, wide midfielders, central midfielders, full backs, central defenders) during deceleration for dominant and non-dominant lower limbs. However, we observed the highest level of deceleration in the full backs, also for dominant (mean = 8.30 m/s² ± 0.82 m/s²) and non-dominant (mean = 8.28 m/s² ± 0.78 m/s²) lower limb. We observed the highest level of deceleration in the full backs, who are characterized by the highest number of decelerations in the game, precisely due to the frequent transition between phases of the game. These findings are directly applicable to the design of individual training programs with an emphasis on reducing injury incidence and increasing movement efficiency during deceleration.     Hypoventilation training – history and development of an untraditional training method

    This is the first study to provide a review of the literature on the historical development of voluntary hypoventilation training (VHL). VHL is an unconventional training method that is increasingly gaining attention for its potential to improve athletic performance through controlled hypoxia and hypercapnia. Unlike traditional hypoxic training, which requires specialised equipment or high-altitude exposure, VHL relies on breathing restrictions during exercise, offering a widely accessible alternative. The purpose of this study is to provide a historical perspective on the use of VHL. The review of the literature aims to describe the historical context, physiological basis, and development of VHL, which originated in breath holding techniques used by freedivers and evolved into a training tool adopted by elite athletes like Emil Zátopek to simulate challenging race conditions. In the late twentieth century, VHL was utilised by elite swimmers and mid-distance runners, who used the technique of extension of breath-holding after inspiration. Although this technique was not proven to be effective in inducing significant hypoxia, it was still applied in sports practice and is known as hypoxic training. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, Xavier Woorons and colleagues significantly advanced awareness of VHL in the scientific community by demonstrating its effectiveness using the end-expiratory breath-hold technique. This approach was shown to be effective in altering pH, increasing cardiac output, and inducing significant hypoxia and hypercapnia during exercise. Incorporating VHL into a training cycle can enhance respiratory muscle strength, buffering capacity, and endurance abilities. Currently, VHL is applied primarily in team sports due to its proven effectiveness in improving repeated sprint ability. Future research may focus on verifying the safety of this training method and exploring its potential to improve hematopoiesis.  DOI: https://doi.org/10.24040/sjss.2024.9.suppl.84-10

    The incidence of eccentric and isometric hamstring strength asymmetries among U19 youth elite soccer players in Slovakia

    Physical preparation in soccer is requiring individualization through regular monitoring the physical abilities of players. When it comes to injury prevention, muscle strength and performance asymmetries detection is reliable way to identify increased risk for injury. The primary objective of this study was to analyze the incidence of eccentric and isometric hamstring strength asymmetries among U19 youth elite soccer players in Slovakia and provide the necessary information for physical coaches to improve the injury prevention training protocols. Two hundred eighty-six players (Age 17.29 ± 0.65 years, Height 180.75 ± 12.27 centimeters, Bodyweight 72.97 ± 6.67 kilograms) from 14 Slovakian soccer academies participated in testing their eccentric and isometric hamstring strength during the September 2023. The results showed very high incidence of eccentric as well as isometric hamstring strength asymmetries, when almost 47% of all players scored above 10 % difference between the lower extremities in one or both tests. More than 34 % of all players (p < 0.01, d = 0.3) achieved above 10 % inter-limb difference in eccentric hamstring strength and 26.22 % of all players (p < 0.01, r = 0.36) scored above 10 % inter-limb difference in isometric hamstring strength. Surprisingly, when it comes about players position the results are inconclusive, since some positions showed significant inter-limb differences in eccentric strength, but not in isometric strength and vice versa. Nevertheless, since above 10 % difference in strength testing is considered as a caution for increased chance for injury in any sport, our results suggest that for the players who scored higher asymmetries the physical training intervention for minimizing the inter-limb strength differences might be helpful as a part of injury prevention strategy. Further research needs to be conducted to confirm our findings. It might be interesting to compare the history of players injuries with their strength performance.  DOI: https://doi.org/10.24040/sjss.2024.9.suppl.124-13

    Teachers' opinions on teaching athletics in physical education in elementary schools

    Aim of the thesis: The aim of this work is to monitor teaching athletics at primary schools in Prague and to determine the extent which athletics is taught at to and what are the main factors influencing the inclusion of athletics into physical education lessons. I will attempt to evaluate the spatial and material resources of primary schools for teaching athletics. Methodology: I chose method of survey to answer the research questions. The survey was created in online form using Google Forms and then distributed via email to all public two-grade primary schools in Prague. I contacted headmasters of the schools and requested them to forward the survey to physical education teachers. Before sending out the survey, a short pilot survey was conducted. Results: The frequency of including athletics in physical education lessons is mainly influenced by the current weather and spatial conditions of school. Teachers usually focus on athletics between 2 times a week to 2 times a month. Warm-ups and preparatory activities in athletics lessons are realized mainly through stretching and running exercises. Teachers focus mostly on sprints, ball throwing, long jump, and relay races. Evaluation of students‘ performance in athletics is primarily based on their effort and individual improvement.
