Research analyse of potential circadian aspects in boxing
There are given in the presented paper outputs of five years longterm basic research of the circadian determinants influence onathlete´s performance in the framework of the Czech – Japan jointproject W/VSP/161/I. In the paper we present the focus on circadiandeterminants, which can be important for performance in sportdiscipline boxing, e.g. on the circadian preferences and habits ofboxers in Czech Republic. The main objective of the investigationwas to analyse circadian preferences and habits of boxers in contextof professional/amateur boxing. The partial goal was to analysedifferences between professional and amateur performance of maleboxers. In total 91 Czech boxers (37 professional boxers, 54amateur boxers), in age interval 21- 35 year old, median 26.2 yearsold, participated in the investigation procedure. The diagnosticmethod Questionnaire of Circadian Typology “CIT” for adults(Harada, Krejčí - Czech version, 2010) was used. The statisticalmethods included One-way non-parametric ANOVA SPSS, withusing Fisher Exact Test and Mann–Whitney U test. Resultsdemonstrate from the view of chronotype that professional boxersare more evening typed than amateur boxers. Significant differencesin the marker “Difficulty fall asleep” were found between professionaland amateur boxers. Spent time in night in front of blue light inmonitors and displays negatively influenced quality of sleep.Professional boxers tend to adhere to regular eating habits incomparison with amateur boxers. In professional boxers wereanalysed higher levels of psychological stability and self-control thanin amateur boxers. Conclusions presented in the paper can servebackground material, for example, to set up an appropriateintervention program for boxers, whether professional or amateurboxers. Especially is advisable to recommend to boxers to avoid bluelight sources in the night before falling asleep, because guides toprolong the sleep cycle and reduce the quality of slee

Active modes of transport (walking and cycling)
Discussing the position and the nature of contemporary sport means to say: Sport is the same as the society. Physical activity in terms of motives, forms of intensity changes considerably, in particular in the context of the phenomenon of post-modern sedentary society. From the perspective of leisure sport activities public health recommendations for physical activity tend to emphasize particularly walking and bicycle riding. Active transport is considered an important source of natural physical activity in all stages of life. The paper illustrates walking and biking as an agent for aquiring invigorating affects of regular, high-quality and life-long physical activities on health, fitness and morals: for wellness. Presented data ilustrate the results of larger survey of participation of adult Czech population in physical activities, including walking and cycling. Survey confirmed general decline in proportion of sport and excercise in leisure time, decreasing importance of walking and cycling as means of transport, higher participation in sport in men, increasing relative proportion of walking in age. On the whole it is confirmed that overal climate of sedentary society in which sport is more of a passively consumed as a form of mass entertainment rather than an actual acvtivity practised as an integral part of people´s life style on permanent lifelong basis
The impact of lunar rhythms on croos-country skiing athlete's locomotor performance
The aim of the study was to determine the effects of lunar rhythmson the course of oscillation of locomotor performance of a crosscountryskiing athlete. The object of the research was a member ofthe Academic National Team, a student of Physical Education andSports, Faculty of Arts, Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica. Shewas born on August 4, 1991, her body height was 175cm and bodyweight was 65kg. She has been cross-country skiing since 1997.The diagnostics were performed by five tests during six lunar cyclesfrom July to December RTC 2013/2014. The following test wereused: the Ruffier test, 30m sprint, CrossFit sit-ups, the Home StepTest and Medicine Ball Throw (2kg). Based on the results of theresearch, we found that in the first phase of the lunar rhythm theproband achieved the best results in four tests – the Ruffier test, 30msprint, sit-ups, and Home Step Test. In the dynamic strength of theupper limbs, we have recorded the best results in the third phase ofthe lunar rhythm. Based these findings, we conclude that the phasesof the lunar rhythm are suitable for the development of the individuallocomotorabilities
HDL level in amateur bodybuilders who misuse the combination of testesterone products and anabolic steroids in Bosnia and Hercegovina
Who suffer from the Adonis effectare unaware of anabolic steroid’sside effects, whose misuse can beprescribed to their need to achieveperfect muscles proportion andquality physical performance, withoutthe motivation to compete. Riskfactors such as increased LDL ( Lowdensitylipoprotein), increased levelsof serum lipid, reduced HDL (Highdensitylipoprotein), and arterialhypertension are some of the majorfactors which have an important rolein the pathogenicity ofatherosclerosis. These risk factorsare responsible for causingpermanent cardiovascular damage inyoung amateur bodybuilders aged 18to 25. Objective: The aim of thestudy is to estimate the side effectsof misusing androgenic anabolic-steroids in combination withtestosterone in case of young amateur bodybuilders who have nomotivation to compete. In addition, this study will offer an estimateand an analysis of a 5 years research conducted on Bosnian andHerzegovinian young amateur bodybuilders aged 18 to 25 inregards to the testosterone influence in the combination withanabolic steroids and what side effects it might have on vascularstatus, specifically in regards to HDL/LDL (High-densitylipoprotein/Low-density lipoprotein serum lipid). Methods: Thestudy was conducted on 60 individuals in period from 2010 to 2015and based on amateur exercising program. 30 subjects arerecognised as those using the Androgenic-anabolic steroids incombination with testosterone during a 5 year period, and werecompared with 30 subjects who did not use Androgenic-anabolicsteroids. Non-invasive methods were used in case of all subjects(clinical examination and vascular ultrasound examination of veinsystem). The routine of anaerobic training units in the Gym forbouth groups was 1,5 - 2 hours performed 4-6 times per week. Results: Final analysis has revealed that among the population ofyoung anabolic steroid users, the statistically dominant are males(100%) or 30 subjects. Analysis has revealed that in Androgenicanabolic-steroid group in case of 14 subjects or (44,8%), arterialprehypertension condition with hyperlipidaemia is morerepresented then in comparison with the group of 6 subjects or(18,5%) who do not use anabolic-steroids and was statisticallyconsidered significant by using p value less than 0,05. (p<0,05).HDL (High-density lipoprotein) levels under 1.03 mmol/L weremore present in a group of anabolic-steroid users in 28 subjects or(93,3%), which is statistically significant (p<0,05). Conclusion:Amateur male bodybuilders aged 18 to 25 are dominantandrogenic anabolic steroids users, trying to achieve better muscleproportion and physical performance while neglecting theanabolic steroids side effects which have devastatingconsequence on vascular system and increase the serum lipidslevels. Side- effects of using steroids in recreational exercisingprogram in young amateur bodybuilders are mostly connected withthe development of arterial hypertension and hyperlipidaemia, which progresses the pathogenicity of cardiovascular disease withdevastating health disorders
Gender differences among university students in flexibility and muscle strength: a pilot study
The major objective of this study was identifying the differencesin morphological characteristics and motor abilities pertaining tostrength and flexibility between male and female students. The studysample participants were male and female subjects aged between18 and 32 years. The sample included 100 university students (50males and 50 females). The variables used for anthropometricmeasure assessment included the following: height, weight and bodymass index. The following variables were used to assess strength:Strength shoulder extension left, Strength shoulder extension right,Strength shoulder flexion left, Strength shoulder flexion right. Thestudy participants’ flexibility was tested by means of the followingvariables: Еxtension body, Flexion body, Flexion body, Shoulderflexion left, Shoulder extension left, Shoulder flexion right, Shoulderextension right, Neck flexion, Neck extension, Neck lateral flexionleft, Neck lateral flexion right. Independent samples T-test was usedfor determining statistically significant difference between genders forparameters pertaining to strength and flexibility assessment for eachindividual variable. The results of the tests used for determining thelevels of motor ability in male and female university students indicatestatistically significant differences at the level of the motor domainstrength but not for the motor domain flexibility, for which none of theparameters measured showed statistically significant difference
T-test for two dependent samples - some practical notes
This paper focuses on some important issues of the t-test for two dependent samples(paired t-test). Emphasis is placed on the assumptions of the use of the test, on thecorrect formulation of the tested hypotheses and on the selection of the correct methodin testing the averages of differences in pairwise observations. This is extended bythe calculation of the confidence interval for the mean difference and calculation ofthe effect size by Cohend´s d. The paper also offers a demonstration of two differentsolutions for the same example by means of correctly and incorrectly chosenstatistical test.Key words: statistics, dependent samples, paired t-test
