Mathematics creativity in elementary teacher training
Creativity plays an important role in mathematics learning, so teachers must provide students with appropriate learning opportunities. This means using tasks, in particular those with multiple solutions and/or multiple resolutions, that usually require creative thinking and it could be a possible way to promote creativity in students. In this paper, we identify some traits of creativity in elementary pre-service teachers through tasks productions used during math classes.0D1E-4824-1244 | Ana Cristina Coelho Barbosainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
The power of seeing in problem solving and creativity: an issue under discussion
The teaching of mathematics is a complex task, as there are several aspects that must be considered simultaneously, which requires that teachers have knowledge and deep understanding of the issues and mathematical content they expect to teach and also requires that teachers have a good understanding of how to teach, in order to be effective in the development of mathematics learning of all students.0D1E-4824-1244 | Ana Cristina Coelho Barbosainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Visualization in pattern generalization: potential and challenges
This study tries to understand how pre-service teachers, for basic education, solve problems involving the generalization of visual patterns, identifying: the strategies used; the difficulties presented; the role of visualization in their reasoning; the factors that influence their generalizations. We followed a qualitative methodology. The participants were 80 pre-service teachers. During the classes of a Didactics of Mathematics unit course, they solved a sequence of tasks involving growing visual patterns. Results showed that students were able to use different strategies, but also that some dimensions of the tasks can have impact in their reasoning, provoking, sometimes, a shift on the strategies used and the emergence of difficulties of different kind.0D1E-4824-1244 | Ana Cristina Coelho Barbosainfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Shaping Clinical Reasoning
Clinical reasoning is at the core of all health-related professions, and it is long recognized as a
critical skill for clinical practice. Yet, it is difficult to characterize it, as clinical reasoning involves
different high thinking abilities combined. Also, it is not content that is historically taught or
learned in a particular subject. But clinical reasoning became increasingly visible when this
competency is explicitly stated in the curricula of educational programs in health-related
professions. To teach and learn an abstract concept such as clinical reasoning in complement to
the core knowledge and the procedural competencies expected from healthcare professionals
raises some concerns, namely regarding its implementation, the best way to do it, and how to
assess it. This book chapter intended to discuss the need to invest in the development of clinical
reasoning skills in the health-related graduation program will review some of the pedagogical
and theoretical frameworks for fostering high-level reasoning and problem-solving skills in the
clinical areas and address the effectiveness and success of different pedagogic activities to
develop and shape clinical reasoning throughout the curriculum.5F1C-9D14-387E | Joana Margarida Ferreira da Costa Reisinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Math + Children's Stories = creative connections in preschool
This report is part of the Internship of a Professional Nature of the Master's Degree in Medical-Surgical Nursing at the Escola Superior de Saúde do Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo, in a Basic Emergency Service and seeks to highlight from a perspective critical and reflective approach the path and process of acquiring and developing specialized skills in medical-surgical nursing, in the area of patients in critical situations. For the acquisition and development of skills, we sought to base clinical practice on the most recent scientific evidence, encompassing the dimensions of providing care to patients and families in critical situations, training, management, ethics, deontology, and research.
The internship took place in a basic emergency service, in which the research problem emerged, form the need to build a preparation procedure for the inter-hospital transport of the patient in critical situation.
The pertinence of the research study comes from a perspective of patient safety in limiting and controlling possible adverse events arising from inter-hospital transport and which, when they arise, imply increased mortality and morbidity. The construction of a procedure aims to be an instrument to support a specialized and safe care practice.
Considering the research objective, we decided to use a Delphi technique in this study. For this, a questionnaire was applied to a group of 10 expert nurses to assess the pertinence of the suggested assumptions to obtain a consensus. The results showed a robust consensus on most of the assumptions put forward for the expert consideration. In this way, the study allowed the construction of a procedure with validated and consensual interventions, for the preparation of inter-hospital transport, safe and free of adverse events. Following this study, it is suggested the validation and implementation of the procedure in real clinical practice to assess gaps and be able to be extended nationwide.
From the internship experience, the fundamental role of the specialist nurse in Medical-Surgical Nursing is evident, in a context as unique and at the same time as complex as a basic emergency service. As personal learning, the relevance and importance of professional practice specialized in Nursing is highlighted. This practice is aimed at all stages of life, with the development of skills, based on reflection, interaction with the context and scientific evidence. This summary of competences leads to conscious decision-making in highly unpredictable, changeable and complex environments
The impact of visualization on functional reasoning: the ability to generalize
ABSTRACT:
With this study we try to understand how pre-service teachers, from basic education

An antibody-based survey of Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum Infection in client-owned cats from Portugal
Toxoplasma gondii and Neospora caninum are intracellular parasites with a great
impact on human and animal health, respectively. This work aims to investigate the presence of
antibodies against T. gondii and N. caninum in client-owned cats from Portugal and to identify risk
factors. A total of 183 domestic cats were sampled and their owners answered an online questionnaire
designed to obtain background information. The overall anti-T. gondii and anti-N. caninum seroprevalences were 13.1% and 3.8%, respectively. An indoor lifestyle was identified as a significant protection
factor against T. gondii infection, while the presence of a chronic disease and the presence of antibodies
against N. caninum were identified as significant risk factors to T. gondii seroprevalence. To the best of
our knowledge, this is the first serosurvey on N. caninum seroprevalence in cats from Portugal.A91F-E8B8-FA62 | Teresa Susana Letra MateusN/
Revitalizing business tourism in the European Union : strategies for growth
The COVID-19 pandemic had a disastrous effect on the growth in business tourism, emphasizing the role of information and communication technologies in the implementation of new meeting models. Consequently, new needs and concerns of the business tourist may have arisen, which should lead business tourism organizations to consider new attributes in their value proposition. Thus, this study aims to understand the determinants of business tourism spending and the number of business meetings, in the European Union, to aid the formulation of economic and marketing policies, in the post-pandemic period. For this purpose, a literature review is carried out for the periods before, during, and after the pandemic phase; additionally, a panel data analysis is performed using data from the 28 countries in the European Union. The results identify new typologies of determinants, describing first-order (global-scale) and second-order (European-scale) determinants and identifying important practical implications.8316-FD77-85EB | Pedro Miguel Fonseca Moreira de Carvalhoinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
a narrative review
Active healthy ageing (AHA) is a goal that several world organisations promote and is essential for modern societies where the average age is increasing. Physical activity (PA), including exercise, is a central aspect of achieving this goal, even though a high percentage of the population has high levels of sedentariness and low levels of PA. Therefore, this narrative review aimed to summarise and critically evaluate the existing literature that investigates technology-induced changes in PA levels and the possibility that these may produce active lifestyles, promoting AHA; this is unclear in the apparently healthy older adult population. Training protocols delivered via a website, similar to mobile applications, seem capable of increasing not only physical fitness but also PA levels, at least in the short term. Wearable active tracker devices (WATs), alone or together with websites, can lead to an increase in step count and average daily moderate PA in outdoor environments, as well as in specifically designed applications. Technology that can offer virtual physical games is an effective strategy to promote PA by overcoming certain barriers that may limit its practice in apparently healthy older adults. Currently, information and communication technologies (ICTs), and more generally new digital technologies, show great potential in increasing PA levels and reducing sedentary levels, at least in the short term. The heterogeneity of the proposed interventions and the frequent lack of follow-ups do not allow us to evaluate the effectiveness in the long term, which is crucial for the AHA process.9E1A-F9DD-3EB8 | Filipe Manuel ClementeN/
