Innovative pedagogical strategies to strengthen creativity in arts education
The research analyzed the impact of arts education on the development of creative thinking in high school students in the canton of Jipijapa. It was evident that the teaching of the arts not only enriched the academic training of the students, but also fostered key skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and self-expression. Through the analysis of background information and theoretical bases, the relevance of innovative methodologies, such as image reading and Project-Based Learning (PBL), was highlighted, which allowed for the enhancement of creativity in the classroom and the strengthening of meaningful learning. The study was based on constructivist approaches, such as the postulates of Piaget and Vygotsky, which emphasized the active construction of knowledge. In addition, Gardner\u27s theory of multiple intelligences provided a conceptual framework for understanding the diversity of students\u27 abilities. In the Ecuadorian context, the legal framework, composed of the LOEI and the LOES, supported the importance of arts education in the integral formation of citizens. Despite the progress made, challenges were identified in the implementation of pedagogical strategies that favor the teaching of the arts. It was concluded that strengthening arts education would contribute to the development of creative skills essential in the 21st century, and the integration of innovative methodologies and the continuous training of teachers were recommended to improve arts education in Ecuador
Use of design thinking methodology applied to education for strengthening the teaching of citizenship education
The aim of this research is to investigate whether the Design Thinking methodology can enhance the teaching of citizenship and rights among second-year high school students. The study was conducted with a cohort of 29 second-year students from Unidad Educativa Llano Chico in Quito, Ecuador. A survey was administered to gauge their perceptions of the impact of active methodologies, including the one under study, on their understanding of citizenship and rights.The findings revealed that while students are not familiar with this specific methodology, they do possess knowledge of other similar methodologies and strategies related to Design Thinking. In conclusion, the research suggests that the effectiveness of such methodologies is highly likely. It is recommended that further experimental research be conducted of collaborative practices, were key in improving linguistic competencies, especially in spelling and grammar, showing a significant improvement in student performance in these areas
Educational Innovation in Ecuador: Impact of Design Thinking on Civic Education
The Ecuadorian education system faced the challenge of modernising its methodologies to strengthen student participation and critical understanding of issues such as democracy, human rights and citizen participation. In this context, the Design Thinking methodology was implemented as an innovative strategy to improve learning in the subject of Education for Citizenship. The study by Asanza Romero et al. (2024) analysed its application in an Ecuadorian educational institution, using a mixed approach with surveys, interviews and classroom observations. Analytical templates were designed to measure student perception and a methodological guide for teachers was produced. The results showed that Design Thinking increased motivation and facilitated a deeper understanding of civic concepts. Eighty per cent of students reported greater engagement, and 75% highlighted that the methodology allowed them to relate the content to their social reality. However, the implementation of this methodology faced obstacles such as the lack of teacher training and the digital divide (Villalta, 2023). For it to be successful, it was recommended to strengthen training in digital skills (Prendes & Castañeda, 2019) and improve access to technological resources. Design Thinking proved to be an effective tool for transforming civic education in Ecuador, promoting active and inclusive learning
Nursing students\u27 perceptions of clinical clerkship
Introduction: clinical clerkship are a critical element because they provide students with the opportunity to practice what they have learned, so it is important that they view these formative experiences positively.Objective: to evaluate the perception of clinical clerkship of third year students of the bachelor\u27s degree in nursing at a public higher education institution in the province of Tucumán, in the second quarter of 2023.Methos: descriptive, cross-sectional, and quantitative study. The instrument to measure the students\u27 perception of Matheus\u27 clinical clerkship, composed of 24 items, was used. Informed consent was obtained.Results: 124 students, mostly female (88,71 %) and aged between 20 and 29 years (57,26 %) were interviewed. Of the respondents, 56,45 % rated the teaching performance as positive and 10,48 % rated the teaching-learning process as negative. The overall perception of the clerkship was positive in 51,61 % of the students.Conclusion: perceptions of the clinical clerkship were mostly favorable, and teaching performance was the most highly rated aspect. Introduction: the use of digital technology is recognized as a strategy in university educative polices. The objective of this paper is to analyze the innovative sense of the hybrid teaching use by the Basic Biomedical Science Department, in Salvador Allende Medicine Faculty.Methods: it was developed a descriptive and qualitative investigation, using the case study method. Health Informatics Systems for Information and Decisional Control in Cancer Patients\u27 Medical Decision-Making
Health Informatics Systems (HIS) are technology-based solutions that enhance healthcare efficiency by collecting, managing, and analyzing health data, including electronic health records, clinical decision support systems, and telemedicine platforms. HISs utilize technology to manage healthcare data, improve patient care, and enhance decision-making. The aim is to develop and evaluate HIS that enhances information management and decisional control in cancer patients\u27 medical decision-making, ensuring informed and patient-centered care. The research surveyed 412 individuals who had been diagnosed with cancer. To ensure a diverse patient population, participants were selected from multiple healthcare institutions. The analysis utilized the Control Preferences Scale (CPS) to assess patients\u27 preferred level of involvement in medical decisions. Patients were grouped into four decision-making categories: self-reliant, guided decision-making, co-decision, and non-participatory. The data was analyzed using SPSS 26 software to guarantee methodological rigor and reliability. Descriptive statistics, logistic regression, and analysis of variance (ANOVA) compare means across multiple groups to determine whether significant differences exist in decision-making preferences among cancer types. Self-reliance and guided decision-making are prevalent in the early stages, while non-participatory decision-making increases in the advanced stages. Logistic regression shows significant associations between HIS usage and decision-making styles. ANOVA confirms statistical differences in decision-making approaches across different patient groups. The findings highlight the diverse decision-making preferences among cancer patients, emphasizing the need for tailored HIS that support informed, and patient-centered care. Enhancing real-time data access and predictive insights can empower patients and improve collaborative decision-making in oncology
Historical evolution of the development of calligraphy skills in preschool children, sixth year of life
This study refers to the importance of the development of fine motor skills in the formation of calligraphic abilities from the earliest ages for the achievement of successful school learning. In Cuba, early childhood education is a dynamic, multilateral, complex, flexible, contextualized and participatory process, where the maximum possible integral development of each child must be guaranteed. The historical process of teaching calligraphic skills has gone through several stages up to the current Third Improvement. The introduction of a new curriculum organized in dimensions of education and development is significant, as these dimensions take into account the integrated and interdependent way in which development occurs during early childhood. A study is carried out in a Master\u27s Thesis that provides a historical evolution of the development of calligraphic skills in preschool children, sex year of life and the significance of each of these stages, up to the present day. It offers alternatives for its implementation with children of these ages, with the active participation of the family and in a close interdimensional relationship for fine motor skills, and personal communication, artistic expression
The discipline of Medical Psychology in the ethical-humanistic education of medical students
Objective: To describe the current situation of ethical-humanistic training through the discipline Medical Psychology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Sancti Spíritus “Dr. Faustino Pérez Hernández.”Methods: Non-experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional study with a mixed-methods approach. The sample was stratified and non-probabilistic, consisting of 10 professors, 8 administrators, and 60 students. Results: The diagnosis found the following strengths: the discipline Medical Psychology is integrated into the cross-curricular ethical-humanistic formation within the Medicine curriculum; humanistic values education is established as a priority methodology; the medical-legal curricular strategy is developed; the faculty serves as an example of what is taught in the discipline; students recognize the importance of the formative process. On the other hand, the following deficiencies were found: weaknesses in the direction of ethical-humanistic training in the discipline Medical Psychology; professors need more training to meet the requirements of the medical training model; there are still no comprehensive assessments that emphasize skills and behavior, as well as the interrelation with the main integrating discipline. Conclusions: The discipline Medical Psychology has the potential to enhance the ethical-humanistic education of medical students. Both administrators and students recognize the importance of improving this educational process. Pertinence of the teaching use of virtual classroom by Basic Biomedical Science Department
Introduction: The use of digital technology is recognized as a strategic educational policy in higher education. Objective: To analyze the relevance of the virtual classroom as a teaching tool by the Basic Biomedical Science Department, Salvador Allende Health Sciences Faculty, Medical University of Havana. Methods: A descriptive, qualitative, case study-based research study was conducted. Theoretical methods, including analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, historical-logical analysis, and ascent from the abstract to the concrete, were used. Empirical methods comprised documentary review and focus groups.Results: Established criteria enable the consideration of the instructional use of the virtual classroom as a departmental teaching innovation. Supported by digital technology, this represents a transition from traditional face-to-face teaching to a hybrid model. Conclusions: The use of the virtual classroom for teaching purposes by the Basic Biomedical Science Department, Salvador Allende Health Sciences Faculty, Medical University of Havana, stands as a pertinent teaching innovation, contributing to the digital transformation of medical education
Investigation of Online Interactive Modules for Strengthening Emergency Preparedness in Nursing Education
The effective emergency preparedness in nursing education necessitated innovative teaching strategies that strengthened both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Traditional instruction alone failed to provide nursing students with the critical competencies required for high-pressure emergency scenarios. Research examined the role of online interactive modules in improving emergency response proficiency, focusing on Emergency and Life Support Training (ELST), a web-based multimedia simulation game designed to enhance engagement, motivation, and skill acquisition in emergency care. A controlled investigation was carried out with final-year undergraduate nursing students (N=120) to assess the efficiency of ELST in emergency guidance. The intervention group engaged with ELST before realistic training, while the control group received conventional coaching. Quantitative investigation, performed using SPSS, involved an independent t-test to evaluate group performance, a paired t-test to assess within-group development, and a Chi-square test to analyze categorical differences in competency levels. The findings proved a statistically significant enhancement (p < 0.05) in key emergency competencies, including equipment verification, airway assessment, safe and effective use of a defibrillator, chest compression technique, and emergency medication management. Qualitative comments underscored the profit of interactive learning, as students reported increased confidence, faster decision-making, and better retention of emergency protocols. These results highlighted the potential of integrating simulation-based modules into nursing curricula to improve engagement, reinforce practical skills, and advance preparedness for critical situations. Incorporating digital learning equipment into emergency education bridged the break between academic instruction and real-world submission, finally leading to more capable and confident nursing professionals
