Emerging Technologies in Education: A Bibliometric Analysis of Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Health Sciences.
Artificial Intelligence brings a new paradigm in health sciences related to using technologies capable of processing a large amount of patient information to strengthen prediction, prevention and clinical care. This research aimed to perform a bibliometric analysis of Artificial Intelligence and its applications in Health Sciences, particularly on Emerging Technologies in Education. To this end, a search for articles related to "Artificial Intelligence and its Applications in Health Sciences" was conducted at the international level in the Scopus database with search parameters based on titles, abstracts and keywords. The results revealed that the network of the 100 most essential terms was grouped into four clusters, namely: the first cluster identified with red color is related to artificial Intelligence; the second cluster identified with green color is related to the controlled study; the third cluster identified with yellow color is related to algorithm and, the fourth cluster identified with yellow color is related to education. It was concluded that artificial Intelligence has experienced advances that are having an impact on health sciences education. Academics and researchers have tools that allow them to obtain information to deepen the diagnosis of diseases and present students with robust case studies that strengthen the teaching-learning proces
Psychometric analysis of the Test Anxiety Questionnaire in schoolchildren
Test anxiety is a disproportionate emotional response to an assessment in an academic context due to feelings of rejection, underachievement, fear, discomfort and worry about possible negative outcomes. The objective was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Test Anxiety Questionnaire (CAEX in Spanish) in Peruvian high school students aged between 11 and 17 years (M = 14.03, SD = 1.8). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed, and the results confirmed the factorial structure of the CAEX distributed in 4 factors. The goodness-of-fit indices were acceptable ( 2 = 2791.87, p = 0.000, CFI = 0.928, TLI = 0.925, RMSEA = 0.051, SRMR = 0.062) and showed that the CAEX presents discriminant validity (p > 0.05). It is concluded that the CAEX has adequate psychometric properties and is suitable for future research related to the mental health of high school students
Curriculum: curriculum tracking and validation website
Introduction: The curriculum is essential for students and professionals as well as for their institutions, the creation and validation of them so far is a manual process that can be quite difficult so seek alternatives based on technologies that streamline and standardize the process becomes a necessity of these times in which technology is becoming an integral part of everyday life. Objective: to create a website that automates the creation and validation of the curriculum. Method: a technological development and innovation research was carried out in April 2024. The website was designed on Ubuntu 24.04 operating system using Microsoft Visual Studio Code and Chrome browser. The programming language used was JavaScript and Python and its libraries React and FastAPI respectively. The application was developed in three stages: search for information, selection of programming tools and creation of the application. Results: A website was created with a user registration system based on high security standards, capable of receiving entries from users who contribute to their curriculum and subsequent validation by site administrators. The validation of the certificates determines a score by area and global that establishes a ranking that can be filtered. Conclusions: the created application passed the tests of functionality and security, determining its effectiveness and efficiency in assisting the creation and validation of the university curriculum
Protective and risk factors for condom use as an hiv preventive measure in men who have sex with men: development of a model
HIV continues to disproportionately affect key populations, such as MSM, who in Mexico have a 28 times higher risk of infection compared to other key populations and 44 times higher than the general population (CENSIDA, 2021). This vulnerability is due to the interaction of psychological, social and structural factors that interfere with preventive behaviors, such as condom use (Tobón & García, 2022).Objective: To evaluate the influence of protective psychological factors (HIV risk perception and sexual assertiveness) and risk factors (sexual sensation seeking and psychoactive substance use) on condom use as an HIV preventive measure in a sample of MSM in the state of Jalisco, Mexico.A quantitative study with a non-experimental-transversal design and predictive-exploratory scope was carried out with the participation of 247 MSM of legal age from Jalisco. A battery of instruments was used that included the HIV Risk Perception Scale, the Sexual Assertiveness Scale, the Sexual Sensation Seeking Scale, the Alcohol and Drug Consumption subscale of the Questionnaire of Situational Influences for Sexual Behavior in MSM, and two items to measure consistency in condom use. Data were collected digitally, respecting ethical standards, and descriptive, bivariate and multivariate analyses were performed.Consistent condom use was reported by 37.7% of participants. Moderate to high levels of HIV risk perception and sexual assertiveness, and low levels of sexual sensation seeking and substance use were observed. Condom use was positively correlated with risk perception and sexual assertiveness. The logistic regression model was significant (p < .001), showing that the higher the risk perception and assertiveness, the higher the probability of condom use, explaining between 21.6% and 29.5% of the variance.It is concluded that HIV risk perception and sexual assertiveness are key factors that positively influence consistent condom use in the MSM population. The predictive model demonstrates that as these factors increase, the likelihood of consistent condom use significantly increases, underscoring the importance of promoting educational strategies that strengthen HIV risk awareness and sexual assertiveness skills
Developing Competency-Based Medical Training Programs to Address Healthcare Challenges in Rural Areas
In rural areas, the healthcare system suffers major issues including inadequate physicians and nurses, insufficient knowledge of certain medical disorders, and restricted access to high-quality treatment. Healthcare professionals must devise fresh approaches to enhance their competency in order to handle these issues. The development of competency-based medical training courses intended to improve rural healthcare conditions is discussed in this article. The competency-based approach emphasizes on arming medical professionals with the knowledge, tools, and attitudes required to satisfy the particular requirements of rural residents. These initiatives highlight hands-on learning, continuous assessment, and individualised learning routes. In this sense, healthcare professionals may acquire the required skills in a free yet ordered manner. These initiatives also link medical professionals in far-off locations with specialized expertise via telemedicine and digital health technologies. Providers will find it simpler thus to get guidance, training, and current medical knowledge. Through competency-based training tailored to the issues arising in rural healthcare, we seek to not only raise the quality of treatment but also retain healthcare professionals motivated in and competent in their work. The report discusses several significant approaches to improve these programs: how local healthcare systems, medical schools, and internet platforms may cooperate to make education and job advancement simpler to get. The research also emphasizes the need of considering the local circumstances when designing training courses that fit for rural healthcare environments. By producing a more competent, confident, and capable healthcare workforce, competency-based medical training programs might ultimately help address the disparities in healthcare in rural regions. Developing AI-Powered Prosthetics for Enhanced Mobility and Real-Time Neural Control in Patients
The creation of mechanical devices driven by artificial intelligence (AI) is a huge step forward in rehabilitative medicine. These devices will make it easier for people who have lost limbs to move around and give them real-time brain control. This study paper looks into how AI technologies can be used in artificial limbs to make the user experience smooth and natural. Machine learning techniques are at the heart of our method because they read neural data straight from the user\u27s nervous system. This lets the device react in real time to the user\u27s free muscle movements. The study is mostly about making brain connections that pick up electrophysiological signals. These signals are then handled by advanced AI models to figure out what movements are meant to happen. After that, the artificial arms make these moves with a level of accuracy and response that is very close to how real limbs work. We also talk about the creation of feedback loops that let people get sense information from the device, which improves their ability to feel touch and body space. Our method uses a diverse approach that combines robots, neuroscience, and biotech. AI is the key that connects these fields into a system that works well together. Preliminary tests have shown that speed and accuracy of artificial control have gotten a lot better, making it much easier on users\u27 bodies and minds. Also, patient feedback shows that the device is more comfortable and easy to use, which suggests that it has a higher chance of being adopted. Investigating Multi-Drug Resistance in MBL-Producing Gram-Negative Bacteria from Clinical Samples: A Phenotypic Approach in Hospitalized Patients
Background: Global public health faces a substantial risk due to antimicrobial resistance, especially in clinical settings where tackling the formidable issue of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) is crucial. Metallo-beta-lactamase (MBL)-producing GNB continue to pose a serious threat to medical infection management in hospitals as well as communities. Methods: Therapeutic options must be guided by the timely identification of multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains using critical techniques including antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST) and a MBL monitoring. This study investigates the frequency and transportation as well as antimicrobial sensitivity of GNB that produce MBL and MDR germs in medical specimens were obtained. Aseptically taken from study-eligible in- and out-patients, 491 materials (blood, urine, and wound) produced GNB, which were recovered using conventional bacteriological methods. Results: To identify the single GNB, determine the AST and discover the GNB that produced MBL. Gram-negative microbes were found to be growing in 130 cases (26.47%), with the most common isolates being Escherichia coli (15.38%), Klebsiella pneumoniae (16.92%), and Burkholderiacepacia (30.76%). GNB were common in urine samples in other test categories with a frequency of (31.53%). Conclusion: To support wise treatment choices, comprehensive antibiotic and MBL screening for drug-resistant GNB is essential. It is highly advised to examine antibiotic usage rules, promote the sensible use of prescription antibiotics, and improve detection of GNB that produces MBL
The Impact of Antimicrobial Resistance on Pediatric Oral Health Outcomes
According to predictions, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) may overtake all other causes of death globally by 2050, posing a serious danger to public health globally. This review examines the prevalence, mechanisms, and management of antibiotic resistance in pediatric oral infections. The oral cavity harbors diverse microbial communities, and inappropriate antibiotic use in dental practice contributes to the selection of resistant bacteria. Common oral pathogens, including Streptococci and anaerobes, have demonstrated varying levels of resistance to frequently prescribed antibiotics like amoxicillin, penicillin, and metronidazole. The review outlines foundational principles for antibiotic usage in pediatric dentistry, emphasizing prevention, adjunctive therapy, proper selection, and dosing. Specific clinical scenarios, such as pulpal infections, facial swelling, dental trauma, and periodontal disease, are discussed, providing guidance on appropriate antibiotic management. The challenges of managing antibiotic-resistant oral infections are addressed, highlighting the need for improved surveillance, responsible prescribing practices, and development of new antimicrobial agents. Emerging trends in antibiotic management, including the potential of metal nanoparticles and artificial intelligence, are explored. The review concludes by stressing the importance of judicious antibiotic use in pediatric dentistry, balancing effective treatment with broader public health implications. Continuous professional education and adaptation to emerging evidence are crucial for optimal care delivery and contribution to antibiotic stewardship initiatives
Guide for the evaluation and grading of theoretical and practical exams for residents in Imaging
Objective: to design a guide for the evaluation and grading of theoretical and practical exams for residents in Imaging at the Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto Gynaecological and Obstetric Teaching Hospital in Guantánamo.Methods: an exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional investigation was carried out during the 2024 academic year. Theoretical and empirical methods were used, which allowed for the analysis of the main references on the subject and documentary analysis.Results: the guide consists of two sections, one for the practical exam and the other for the theoretical exam, which are evaluated and graded independently, with several components in each section. The way to evaluate each one and the methodology to be followed is proposed and explained.Conclusions: the use of the guide is an essential element in the evaluation of knowledge, while at the same time allowing for the homogenization of the evaluation system and raising the quality and rigor of the teaching-learning process
Chromotherapy as an integrative and complementary practice for reducing pain in childbirth care
Introduction: Labor is characterized by involuntary and coordinated uterine contractions, facilitated by oxytocin, which lead to dilation of the cervix and expulsion of the fetus. Pain during labor is physiological and varies between pregnant women, being associated with dilation and distension of the pelvic structures. Non-pharmacological techniques, such as chromotherapy, are used to relieve pain and promote well-being. They stand out for their analgesic and calming properties, helping to reduce the use of medication and providing a more comfortable experience for the parturient woman. To identify chromotherapy as an Integrative and Complementary Practice in pain relief during childbirth. Method: This is an integrative literature review of a descriptive and exploratory nature, analyzing the use of chromotherapy in labor and delivery. Results: Non-pharmacological methods (NPM), such as chromotherapy, offer benefits such as pain relief and stimulation of dilation, but face barriers due to lack of knowledge. Obstetric nurses play a key role in the use of these methods. Conclusion: The study concluded that although there is limited scientific evidence on some practices, such as chromotherapy, its benefits are clear. As an Integrative and Complementary Practice (ICP), chromotherapy has been shown to be effective in reducing pain during labor, relieving anxiety and stress, and facilitating dilation, providing greater comfort and well-being for the parturient. However, more research is needed to deepen our understanding of this technique and its effects
