    Get PDF
Objective: Early diagnosis for COVID-19 with rapid antigen test (PRA) and real-time polymerase chain reaction (TR-PCR), applying a predictive model. Material and methods: Retro-prospective, observational, longitudinal study; in 2020, a PRA and TR-PCR indication score for COVID-19 was applied to 98 patients (age, fever, respiratory symptoms, chest X-ray, comorbidities, place of residence and work activity); > 4 indicated taking TR-PCR (χ2=0.531, p>0.05), area under the curve (AUC) of 0.5; 3 regression models were performed, the third was more effective (vital signs and clinical signs) to decide positivity; in 2023, 284 patients were included to validate the model. Results: Mean age 47.7±16.7, frequent symptoms with cough, fever and asthenia; mean systolic pressure 119.7±15.6 mmHg and diastolic 74.8±10.9 mmHg; TR-PCR with a sensitivity of 85 %, a validity rate of 49 %; positive predictive value of 48 %; negative predictive value 55 %, positive likelihood ratio 1.019; Cohen\u27s Kappa index, (κ=0.016, 95% CI: -0.073 to 0.1). Conclusions: Molecular tests were contrasted with vital signs and clinical signs; We consider that our model can be useful, but its validation still needs to continue and be applied to more patients

Autism: An Interdisciplinary Analysis From Neuroscience

    Get PDF
Autism, since its initial descriptions by Leo Kanner and Hans Asperger in the 1940s, has shifted from a pathological framework to a neurodiversity paradigm that recognizes neurological differences as part of human variability. This essay examines the epistemological and neuroscientific foundations of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), exploring theories such as the theory of mind, mirror neurons, and linguistic polysemy, which challenge traditional notions of "normality." Neuroscience highlights atypical brain connectivity, while phenomenology addresses divergent consciousness in autism, emphasizing unique subjective experiences. Ethical and social challenges, including educational inclusion and Rawlsian justice, are analyzed to ensure rights and dignity in inclusive environments. Contemporary research suggests autistic traits exist on a broad spectrum within the general population, challenging categorical diagnoses and promoting support models focused on understanding rather than correction. The essay concludes by advocating for redefining normality, prioritizing acceptance of neurological diversity as integral to human identity

    Get PDF
Cultural and artistic education played a fundamental role in the integral development of students, fostering critical and creative skills essential to their education; however, at the “Ocho de Enero” Public School in Jipijapa, these disciplines were poorly integrated into the curriculum. This limitation affected the students\u27 ability to develop divergent thinking, solve complex problems and explore their creativity; moreover, the absence of effective strategies for artistic self-evaluation reduced interest in and performance in the arts.Despite having teachers trained in various cultural areas, the lack of motivation and technical resources hindered the identification and enhancement of student talents; as a result, students lacked adequate tools to strengthen their higher cognitive skills. In response to this problem, the implementation of creative workshops was proposed as a strategy to encourage artistic exploration and critical reflection on one\u27s own work; through an initial diagnosis and continuous evaluation, the aim was to measure the impact of these workshops on education. The study showed that the integration of cultural and artistic education enriched the academic experience, promoting skills such as the analysis, evaluation and synthesis of information; it also improved the quality of learning and prepared students to face the educational challenges of the 21st century

This paper addresses professional development as a continuous pedagogical process based on theoretical and methodological foundations derived from research in the educational context. It focuses on the relationship of professional development with other categories such as instruction, education, preparation, training and performance. The paper stresses the importance of the aspired education to be integral, with several dimensions to be developed. An integral professional must be able to think, feel, value, believe and act, which is reflected in his or her performance in educational practice. Education should prepare individuals both for life in general and for their insertion into the world of work, which is the very essence of the educational process. Professional development, as a pedagogical process, is organized and consciously directed towards a single objective: the integral formation of the personality to develop effectively in its various contexts of action. This process includes various organizational forms, such as continuing education and postgraduate courses, workshops, seminars and conferences, among others. The paper emphasizes that in order to achieve this process successfully, it is essential to previously identify the needs and demands for improvement through an initial diagnosis. This diagnosis serves as a starting point for the planning of pedagogical actions, their implementation, evaluation and control of the results obtained, which should be manifested in the educational environmen
