    後発開発途上国から来日中の留学生への支援についての考察―留学生への質問票・インタビュー調査の分析から―

    本稿では、日本で学ぶ途上国の留学生、特に後発開発途上国(Least Developed Countries、以下LDCs)から来日中の留学生を対象に質問票・インタビュー調査を実施した。その結果や彼らの置かれた現状の分析から、彼らのおよそ6割が公的奨学金を得て来日しており(2015年)、その多くが英語のみで修学できるコースに在籍し、日本語の問題に直面しているという課題が判明した。さらに日本語能力の低さが要因となり渡日後奨学金やアルバイト探しに苦労するなど二次的な課題を生じさせていた。このように日本語学校を経由して大学入学する従来型の留学生には見られない新しいタイプの課題が見つかったが、従来型の留学生支援の枠組がこの課題解決に一定の有効性を示していることが示唆された。In this paper, a questionnaire and interview survey were conducted targeting international students from developing countries studying in Japan, particularly those from Least Developed Countries (LDCs). As a result of the analysis of the survey data and the examination of their current situations, it was revealed that approximately 60% of them came to Japan with public scholarships (as of 2015). Many of LDCs students are enrolled in courses where they can study exclusively in English, the situation leads to the challenge related to the Japanese language. Additionally, the lower proficiency in Japanese has been identified as a contributing factor, giving rise to secondary challenges such as difficulties in scholarship application in Japan and part-time job hunting. While new challenges were identified, distinct from those encountered by students entering universities through Japanese language schools, this paper suggests that the conventional framework of international student support demonstrates some effectiveness in addressing these issues.departmental bulletin pape
