Exploring The Influence of Attitude, Subjective Norm, and Perceived Behavioral Control on Intention Behavior: The Moderating Effect of Benefits
Introduction: This research aims to analyze the factors that influence consumer interest and behavior in using Sharia financial services based on the framework of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Methods: Data were collected from 572 respondents through a questionnaire distributed online to the religious higher education community in Indonesia. Data analysis was carried out using the method of Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The research results showed that attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control (PBC) had a significant influence on interest in using sharia financial services, with PBC as the strongest predictor. Subjective norms exert a greater influence than attitudes, highlighting the importance of social pressure from religious communities, families, and authority figures in shaping customer interest. Interest is proven to be the main predictor of actual behavior with a significant influence, while benefits do not have a significant moderating influence on the relationship between interest and behavior. Conclusions: These findings confirm the TPB in the context of customer behavior in the sharia financial sector and provide practical implications for sharia financial service providers. Financial literacy education, increasing service accessibility, and community involvement are the main strategies to increase the adoption of Sharia financial services. This research also recommends the development of more inclusive Sharia financial literacy policies and programs to strengthen the position of Sharia finance in Indonesia
Oral management in a male pediatric patient with Doose Syndrome. Case Report
Introduction: Doose syndrome, also known as myoclonus-astatic syndrome, is a rare form of epilepsy that usually presents in childhood and is characterized by myoclonic and drop or startled seizures, along with delayed psychomotor development. Dental management in patients with Doose syndrome requires a comprehensive approach, taking into account both the medical and psychological and social implications of the patient. This can influence the patient\u27s ability to maintain postural stability, which could increase the risk of falls or accidents during dental treatment, as well as anticonvulsant treatment, which is common in these patients, since many of these drugs can have side effects related to oral health, such as xerostomia (dry mouth), which can predispose to dental caries and oral infections. Clinical Case: a four-year-old male patient, diagnosed with Doose syndrome, presents to the pediatric dentist\u27s office with the purpose of receiving dental treatment and rehabilitation. The patient was seen after being previously referred to a neurology specialist, and a comprehensive treatment plan encompassing various strategies was implemented. This approach consisted of performing necessary surgical procedures and providing continuous follow-up for a period of 12 months, taking into account both his physical health and his psychological and social status. Thanks to this collaborative effort, the factors that could trigger seizure episodes were significantly reduced. As a result, a notable decrease in plaque accumulation was observed, the patient\u27s oral cavity remained caries-free, and he better adapted to dental visits. Conclusion: the patient\u27s rehabilitation was successful without any complications throughout the process. The procedure related to his management was subjected to further analysis, in which behavioral control measures were implemented, and was performed under local anesthesia. A notable improvement in both the patient\u27s oral and general health was observed, evidenced by the increase in his weight and height during the follow-up visit, which took place six months after the initial evaluation
The Impact of Online Learning on Primary Graders\u27 Reading Comprehension: Challenges and Instructional Strategies
Introduction: This study aims to describe the reading comprehension levels of primary graders and characterize the challenges they encountered during online learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: A descriptive mixed-methods research design was employed, involving 194 primary graders (Grades 1 to 3) from a private school in Iligan City, Philippines. Quantitative data were gathered through comprehension assessments, while qualitative data were collected to identify perceived reading challenges. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. Results: Results revealed that most students performed well in literal comprehension, but fewer attained high levels in interpretative, evaluative, and creative comprehension. The most prominent challenge reported was self-regulation, followed by technological literacy and learning environment constraints. Student isolation was perceived as the least significant challenge. These findings suggest that while learners could recall factual information, they struggled with higher-order thinking skills and independent learning in online settings. Conclusions: The study highlights the need to enhance interpretative, evaluative, and creative comprehension skills through targeted interventions. A curriculum-based instructional material was developed to address these gaps, offering structured, engaging, and developmentally appropriate reading activities. This material may support teachers and education stakeholders in fostering effective reading instruction in digital contexts and preparing for future educational disruptions
Developing the TCK-PPDL Model: An Integrated Learning Approach to Promote Critical Thinking in Primary Science Education
Introduction: This study addresses the urgent need for pedagogical innovation in Indonesian elementary science education by developing the TCK–PPDL (Think Compu Kids–Problem, Project, Discovery Learning) model. The model is designed to improve students\u27 Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and integrate Computational Thinking (CT), in response to persistent underperformance in international assessments such as PISA and the demands of the Merdeka Curriculum. Methods: Using the Plomp development research model, the study was conducted in three phases: (1) preliminary investigation through needs analysis and curriculum review; (2) design and prototyping of the TCK–PPDL model along with its supporting instruments (teacher guidebook and student module); and (3) field testing in two elementary schools in Medan, Indonesia. Data were collected through expert validation instruments, practicality surveys for teachers and students, and pretest-posttest assessments. Results: The model demonstrated high content validity (Aiken’s V = 0.85), very practical implementation as rated by teachers (87.50%) and students (88.20%), and moderate effectiveness with N-Gain scores ranging from 0.31 to 0.43. Significant correlations between pretest and posttest scores (r = 0.892–0.973) confirmed measurable improvements in students’ HOTS.Conclusion: The TCK–PPDL model is a promising integrative approach that blends constructivist learning, computational thinking, and higher-order thinking skills. It is practical for classroom implementation and holds potential for improving student learning outcomes and supporting curriculum reform in Indonesian elementary education

Inferential analysis using the Pearson correlation test showed a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and multiple literacy. These findings indicate that the higher the emotional intelligence of students, the higher their multiple literacy skills. Conclusion: Emotional intelligence contributes significantly to supporting students\u27 literacy skills in various aspects, especially in interacting critically, ethically, and responsibly with information and in social citizenship life in the socio-technological transformation
When Work is Missing: Generational and Gender Inequalities in Self-Rated Health. The role of social support
Introduction: The impact of unemployment on health varies according to population characteristics. Older women are the most vulnerable group in terms of both unemployment and health. Furthermore, social support decreases with age which exacerbates feelings of loneliness and psychological distress. Objective: This paper aims to explore gender inequalities in the health of unemployed people as well as the impact of social support on the relationship between unemployment and health for different generations in Spain. Methods: Several multilevel logistic regression models were performed using data from the 2022 Spanish Living Conditions Survey, conducted by the Spanish National Institute of Statistics. Marginal effects were computed for the interactions between unemployment and both gender and social support. The sample comprised respondents who were in the labour force. The dependent variable was the self-rated health. Demographic, socioeconomic, and psychosocial covariates were used. All procedures were performed using Stata 15 version software. Results: There is a significant gender gap in self-rated health among unemployed individuals from the Baby Boomer Generation. Unemployed female baby boomers show a greater increase in the probability of reporting poor health than their male counterparts, whereas this is not the case for Generation X. Social support from family and friends has a protective effect on both generations, significantly reducing the average probability of reporting poor health. Conclusions: Gender and generational inequalities in health highlight the need for social and labour measures to promote the employability of unemployed baby boomers, particularly women. Furthermore, social support must be strengthened given its role in mitigating the detrimental impact of unemployment on health
Impact of Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) in Patients with Refractory Cardiogenic Shock: Analysis of Mortality and Hemodynamic Recovery - A Systematic Review
Introduction: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is an advanced life support for critically ill patients with refractory cardiogenic shock. However, evidence on its impact on mortality, hemodynamic recovery, and complications remains heterogeneous. This review aims to systematically evaluate ECMO’s impact on mortality and hemodynamic recovery in adult patients with refractory cardiogenic shock, addressing gaps and variations in existing literature.Material and Methods: This systematic review followed PRISMA guidelines. Databases searched were PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar. Two reviewers independently selected studies, extracted data, and assessed quality using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. Findings were synthesized narratively due to study heterogeneity. Results: Mortality rates ranged widely from 33 to 75%, reflecting differences in patient populations and timing of ECMO initiation. Early ECMO initiation within less than one hour of shock onset was associated with a 47 percent reduction in mortality risk. In-hospital mortality was approximately 40%, increasing to nearly 60% at one-year follow-up. Success rates for weaning patients off ECMO varied between 53% and 88%. Hemodynamic improvements following ECMO support included increased blood pressure, improved left ventricular ejection fraction, and decreased serum lactate levels. Complications were frequent and diverse, predominantly bleeding, stroke, renal failure, and limb ischemia. Bleeding complications are strongly correlated with mortality. Conclusions: ECMO provides crucial circulatory support in refractory cardiogenic shock, improving hemodynamic parameters but with persistently high mortality and complication rates. Early initiation and careful patient selection are vital for optimizing outcomes, underscoring the need for multidisciplinary management and further high-quality prospective studies
Random Forest modeling of bipolar affective disorder in Ecuador
Bipolar affective disorder is a mental disorder characterized by depressive and manic or hypomanic episodes. The complexity of the diagnosis of bipolar affective disorder due to the overlapping of its symptoms with other mood disorders led researchers and doctors to search for new and advanced techniques for the precise detection of bipolar affection disorder. One of these methods is the use of advanced machine learning algorithms under a statistical methodology for building logistical regression models, Random Forest. Support vector machines, Decision Tree, K-Nearest Neighbors, and Gradient Boosting, with 146 data collected from the psychiatric services affiliated with the mental health system of Ecuador. At the inferential level, the results suggest that the implementation of automatic algorithms based on the different methodologies for building models enables the successful prediction or classification of individuals with bipolar affective disorders in Ecuador compared to controlled patients who do not profile under this pathological picture. It is the best Random Forest statistical model (89.35 %) that dictates the best performance metrics compared to the Gradient Boosting model. The evolution of the overall prevalence of bipolar affective disorders in Ecuador over the past 22 years has increased by a small differential. However, from 2020 to 2022, there has been a considerable increase in the percentage prevalence of cases of bipolar affective disorders in Ecuador
