Enhanced near-infrared organic photodetectors leveraging core–shell nanotripods

    No full text
International audienceNear-infrared (NIR) photodetectors are essential for diverse applications, including medical diagnostics, optical communication, and bioimaging. Traditional photodetectors, typically made from silicon and III–V semiconductors, struggle with large-area devices on precured or flexible substrates due to complex manufacturing and high costs. Organic photodetectors (OPDs), however, offer cost-effectiveness, flexibility, and a customizable spectral response. In this study, we report our effort to enhance NIR absorption in OPDs by incorporating core–shell structured PdCu@Au@SiO2 nanotripods (NTs) with a D3h configuration, designed for localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) beyond 1000 nm. Integrating these NTs into the OPD active layer significantly boosts NIR absorption, achieving a responsivity of 0.46 A/W and a dynamic range of 145 dB at 1050 nm. NT-based OPDs show superior sensitivity over the control OPD and a silicon photodetector at wavelengths of over 1000 nm. This improvement is due to the synergistic effects of LSPR and omnidirectional scattering from the PdCu@Au@SiO2 NTs, enhancing carrier generation and extraction. The improved performance highlights their potential for advanced applications such as long-range photoplethysmography and visual line-of-sight communication systems

    No full text

    No full text

Aluminum Nanoparticles for Photobleaching Resistance of Quantum Dots in Solution

    No full text
International audienceWe report on the optical properties of aluminum spherical nanoparticles exhibiting diameters ranging between 2 and 20 nm made by the reduction of aluminum ions in alkane solvents. In the UV-range, the extinction spectroscopy measurements unveiled well-defined surface plasmon resonances corresponding to the calculations performed using Mie theory. Furthermore, a photobleaching resistance effect appears for semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) in a solution containing aluminum nanoparticles. The particles allowed for a global increase in the number of photons emitted by a factor of up to 1.75 compared to QDs alone. Our investigation led us to the conclusion that the aluminum nanoparticles initially absorb a part of the emitted light and prevent the photobleaching of the QDs. Thus, these nanoparticles have the potential to be used as elementary building blocks for making more complex aluminum nanostructures for nanophotonics and also to protect emitters from photobleaching.</div

    No full text

A Comparative Review of Deep Learning Models for Deepfake Detection *

    No full text
International audienceThe development of generative AI has advanced significantly over the past few decades, enabling the creation of deepfake images that are increasingly difficult to distinguish from genuine photographs. The widespread availability of these models, which can be easily used, poses a substantial risk of spreading disinformation. Consequently, there is a pressing need for robust and reliable methods to identify images that have been created or altered using generative AI models. To address this need, a diverse range of methods and models have been developed. However, these approaches are often not exhaustively compared to one another, nor are they evaluated using a common reference dataset. Moreover, the majority of existing deepfake detection models rely on deep learning techniques, with numerous models available for feature extraction and detection, ranging from simple Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to more advanced Vision Transformers (ViTs). To ensure the comparability and reproducibility of deepfake detection models, a standardized benchmark is urgently required to evaluate their performance across a large-scale, common dataset. Such a reference benchmark would facilitate the development of more effective and robust detection methods by providing insight into the strengths and weaknesses of existing AI-based approaches. In addition to establishing this benchmark, this paper also explores the challenges of combining different AI-based deepfake detection models and investigates various aggregation methods to further improve overall detection performance. A large-scale experiment involving almost 50 generative AI methods and over 40 deep learning-based feature extraction and detection models demonstrates the relevance of this study.</div

In the face of multiple constraints, agricultural and food systems (AFS) are being transformed, thanks to strategies driven by private actors or groups of actors, without concertation or guidance from public players. In this article, we focus on the resilience of the AFS of the Champagne crayeuse, a natural region in the north of the Aube department, characterised by a diversity of field crops (mostly sugar beets, grains, oilseed crops, industrial hemp and alfalfa), themselves structured around specialized, regionally anchored and interrelated value chains.

A Simple yet Accurate Autoadaptive Model of Network Traffic for Detection of Attacks on Low Latency Services

    No full text
International audienceThis paper addresses the problem of detection of attacks in computer networks. More precisely, we consider attacks on emerging low-latency services, which typically require a specific traffic management system. We present a simple yet very efficient hybrid method that takes advantage of both autoencoders and transformer models. The original method is compared with the current stateof-the-art on a large real-life dataset of network traffic to show the relevance of the proposed approach, especially for low falsepositive rates. A quick ablation analysis shows that the efficiency of the method relies on the combined use of the two approaches jointly in our hybrid model.</div

Impact of lignin structuration on its chemical and adhesive properties at the nanoscale: Involvement with native and polymer matrices

    No full text
International audienceLignin, produced from papermaking and biorefinery industrial processes, is an interesting green substitute for petroleum-based derivative products with multiple functional properties, including bioplasticizing, bioadhesive, UV resistance and antioxidant properties. Although lignin is a major wood component (20–25 wt.%) available in large quantities, it is seldom used industrially because of its difficult handling in the manufacture of high-value products. Controlling the lignin structural morphology in native and composite materials remains challenging because of the wide variety of chemical functional groups influencing its spatial organization and final network physicochemical properties. In thermoplastics applications, improving the interfacial interactions between the lignin charge and polymer matrix is essential. This work report a combination of experimental approaches to investigate the chemical and adhesive properties of lignins at molecular scale both in preparation of atomic force microscopy probe and in measurement at nanometric scale trough single-molecule force spectroscopy, nano-infrared spectroscopy and imaging. The application of an original Langmuir‒Blodgett (LB) deposition procedure produced homogeneous ultrathin coatings with controlled thicknesses in comparison with classical chemical deposition routes. Both procedures were verified for two synthetic lignins, guaiacyl and mixed guaiacyl–syringyl dehydrogenation polymers, before being applied to pine lignin as a proof-of-concept for the development of green lignin-based (nano)composites. Functionalizing the tip via the LB approach increased the adhesion force measurement resolution and provided new insights into the molecular affinity of lignin for other materials at the nanoscale, which prefers xylan polymers, such as those in native plant cell walls, and apolar/polar polymer matrices, such as those in composite materials, albeit to a lesser extent
