AIMING AT EDUCATION: NO ORDER, NO PROGRESS
No full textThe essay analyses policies for Brazilian education with the purpose of reconfigurations underwent by labor, in the current neoliberal phase of capitalism; particularly, due to having always attributed to labor an opposite character to that of this ideology.The State offers guarantees for the production and reproduction of capital in situations of deepened crisis and transforms social rights, such as education and health, into marketable services. In this perspective, professors experience at universities a highly competitive and threatening atmosphere of loss of rights, which deploys control, threatens autonomy, and limits freedom of professorship, which is founded upon freedom of thought and of expression. The conflict they experience while working, now under surveillance and possibly criminalization, produces a state of insecurity and fear which may result in emotional disorders or depression. How to resist to this rationale and to the resulting processes of subjectivation is what we seek to point out

No full textWithin the European debate on quality education for all, and along with the willingness to implement the Rights of Children, the paper will examine how diversities – which may relate to immigration status, disability, ethnicity, culture and social class – can challenge teachers’ identity and class context in order to enhance the diversity of each student as a resource. The paper will analyse data gathered during an action-research project, which has been developed in so-called high-complexity classrooms in Primary schools, with the aim of investigating the process of implementing teaching strategies for inclusive pedagogy. It will discuss how this process engages teachers in a dynamics between pitfalls and creativity as well as between school cultural barriers and educational opportunities. This leads to transform their professional identity, by developing a deep reflexivity in their own contexts of practice and strengthening their competence to support democracy and inclusive classrooms

No full textThe present narrative review addresses the difficulties and challenges occurring in the field of mental health in elderly adults by describing and synthesizing the available data. More precise knowledge on the prevalence of mental health difficulties in this population is still necessary. This directly leads us to the problem of age-related stereotypes and inaccurate knowledge regarding diagnosis in old age. Poly-pharmacy and side effects of psychotropic medications are also challenges encountered in the field of mental health in older adults. This paper highlights the necessity to improve knowledge and skills by research and by training professionals and develop multidisciplinary networks focusing on older adults’ mental health care

ATTITUDES ON TATTOOS AND TATTOOED INDIVIDUALS

The present study is anexploratory attempt to identify the attitude of young people aboutpeople with tattoos. With the help of a quantitative methodologyand a scale of attitudes we interviewed 113 respondents aboutdifferent aspects regarding tattoos.One of the most interesting finding was that less than half of thepeople who answered the questionnaire do not think that anindividual is more attractive if they are tattooed, which meansthat tattoos are not a way to improve the image or attractivenessof someone

Results were collected using a semistructured interview guide. For starters, it was theopinion of couples on divorce and how their perspectivewas formed. The frequency of crises in families and themethods by which they have been resolved in order toavoid serious consequences in the future has beenevaluated. THE TREND OF PARTICULATE MATTER (PM10) CONCENTRATIONS IN THE WESTERN PART OF ROMANIA
Get PDFParticulate matter (PM) is one of the most known air pollutant and is formed as a mixture of solidparticles and liquid droplets. From them, PM10 are the inhalable particles with diameters smaller than 10 micrometers.Such particles could create seriously health problems for the population as increases the risk of lung cancer and heartdiseases. Due to those effects on the human health, the concentrations of PM10 are monitored as a daily routine byNational Environmental Agency. The present study compare the concentration of PM10 (as has been reported by NationalEnvironmental Agency) during the last three years in the West part of Romania (Timisoara, Arad, Satu Mare and BihorCounty). For all county the medium concentrations are under their legal limits (40 μg/m3) with very few exceptions. Thehighest concentrations have been found in winter due to heating and higher transport fluxes. The maximum concentrationsare higher than the daily legal limits (50 μg/m3) mainly in Arad probably due to the high traffic. Anyway, compare withthe European trend, the daily concentration limit have been overtaken very few times (less than ten)
UPSTANDERS AND THE EMOTIONAL EFFECT OF THE HAUNTING BLUE TICKS
Get PDFMost of today’s youth communication happensonline, thus representing a big part of their lives. Commutingfrom offline to online communication, creates a bunch ofdifficulties, misunderstandings, gaps, in other words notrealizing how our words are being received. When onlinecommunication goes wrong, in terms of youth virtuallyhurting other youth - bully-victim situations - there are alwayswitnesses or bystanders who participate passively and do nottake action. An upstander is a person who participates in anonline aggression and acts, standing against any act ofinjustice or intolerance and intervening on behalf of a personbeing attacked or bullied. Our research team has developedthe project Keeping youth safe from Cyberbullying, ID 2016-3-TR01-KA205-036619 aiming to deeper understand thedynamics of different cyberbullying aspects in onlineenvironments among youth, by creating an onlinequestionnaire composed by single item research, questionsrelated to core concepts and perceptions about cyberbullyingmotives and effects. Our focus is in analyzing the effects of“seen†messages emotional impact on upstanding behavior incyberbullying incidents, in 507 high school students fromRomania, Belgium, Turkey and Spain. Results show thatwhen modelling effects of “seen†messages on upstandingbehavior, the curvilinear model (3%) is more consistent thatthe linear model (2%), even if both models show statisticalsignificance. Psychological and methodological conclusionsand implications are discussed
