PARENTS OF TYPICAL CHILDREN FOR AND AGAINST THE INTEGRATION OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

    No full text
The integration of the children with disabilities inthe mainstream classes is a provocative problem. On the onehand, teachers aren’t yet professionally trained to cope withthe different approaches to each disability. On the other hand, the parents of typical children in the classes of integratedchildren do not want integration because it is a waste of timeand resources that they lose their children. Thus, teachers, inaddition to continuous self-improvement, must also mediateconflicts between parents, insisting on establishing a balancebetween them, for the good of all children. The results of ourresearch show that the parents of typical children are mostlyagainst the integration of children with disabilities, whilepeople who do not have direct interests (lacking fellowchildren with children with disabilities) are more permissive

PARENTAL ALIENATION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF PERSONALITY STRUCTURE AND DISORDERS OF DIVORCED COUPLES

    No full text
Divorce is an increasingly present socialphenomenon in everyday life, a significant number of childrenbeing exposed to its effects. As a natural consequence ofdivorce, in families with one or more children, there is theissue of child custody, aspect in which most of the times thereare some disputes. Following the separation of the maritalcouple, the relationship between the child and his/ her parentshas two different aspects: either the child maintains a naturalrelationship with both of his/ her parents, or, due to his/ herinvolvement in the prolonged post-divorce conflict betweenparents, he/ she suffers an impairment of the relationship withone of the parents. The extreme form of harming therelationship between the child and one of the parents isparental alienation. Parental alienation occurs when one of theparents deliberately interferes with the relationship of thechild with the other parent. This parental intervention involvesbehaviors of denigrating the alienated parent, reducing the contact between the child and the alienated parent, leading torejection of the alienated parent by the child. This study aimsto pursue, on the one hand, the determination of personalitytraits and the existence/ nonexistence of predisposition topersonality disorders of the adults involved in a divorce casewith minors, in relation to which the court suspects theestablishment of the phenomenon of parental alienation, whileon the other hand it pursues to identify significant differencesin personality structuring and its possible disruptions betweenparents coming from divorced couples, from the perspectiveof the targeted parent and that of the alienating parent

SOCIO CULTURAL PERSPECTIVE OF YOUTH OFFENDERS FROM EDUCATIONAL CENTERS IN ROMANIA

    No full text
This paper explores the resilience ofdelinquent children who are serving a sentence ofimprisonment in an educational center of Romania.Using the specific questionnaire for investigating thelevel of resilience of youth, “The Child and YouthResilience Measure (CYRM)â€, data was collected on atotal of 117 youth, boys, aged bet ween 18 23, from aneducational center of Romania. The measure has threesub scales accounting for personal, relational, andcontextual factors implicated in resilience processes. Onthe respect of this paper, we are focused on the itemswhich refer the co ntextual factors (cultural, educationaland spiritual context) of these children. The results of the investigation can serve to a universalpreventive strategy based on cultural context and of theresilience of delinquent youth in these types of thefacili ties. More than in the case of adults, in children andyoungsters, the major concern in establishing educationalmeasures running an offense should aim building theirresilience

One of the most practiced disciplines for athletes with disabilities is wheelchairbasketball. At the same time, in order to achieve the highest level ofcompetitiveness, the specific training methods are based on experimentalresearch made on the players of wheelchair basketball teams engaged in officialcompetitions. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the precision ofthrowing (PoT) in relation to the player’s throwing position (TP), startingfrom the hypothesis that effort intensity, determined by heart rate (HR), couldinfluence PoT.Methods. 5 athletes (My = 30.8 ± 7.5) members of the men’swheelchair basketball team, national champion in 2009, participated in thestudy. A HOSAND system (Italy, 2005) was used for HR monitoring and, forthe determination of the PoT, each player made 10 throws at the edge of the3sec. quad from: 450 left, 450 right and from the free throw line for the 120HR, 140HR, 160HR, and 180HR crossings.Conclusions. Within the limits ofour study, the data obtained show that, for each player, the PoT depends onPT and is influenced by HR values. These data can be used by the coach todesign training sessions that aim to improve basketball and to place playerson the field on tactical pitch. However, data must be approached with cautionbecause, in their assessment and capitalization, account must also be taken ofeach player’s competitive classification (IWBF functional classification)

In the framework of the external factors that influence the growth/developmentof the students, sports activity and alimentation play an essential role.Material and method: The study was conducted on a batch of 98 teenagersfrom 2 highschools in Suceava. They filled in a questionnaire with questionsrelating to the time allotted for physical activity and dietary habits. Resultsand discussion: in most cases the students allocated daily physical activitybetween 15 and 60 minutes (54.08%). The dominant contribution of milkis 2-3 times per week (31.63%) and chicken meat (51.02%). The result isunsatisfactory, which highlight the problems related to the consumption offood products of animal origin. Cooked vegetables are present in the menusespecially 4-7 times (36.73%) and bread (72.44%). Conclusions: the timeallotted for daily activities is pretty modest and the intake of animal originproducts is low

PURPOSE AS AN ASPECT OF INTRAPERSONAL INTELLIGENCE OF ACADEMICALLY GIFTED STUDENTS

    No full text
The paper gives an outline of an explorative research whose topic was purposefulness as an aspect of intrapersonal intelligence, searching for an answer to the following question: in what a way can academic giftedness (success during studies) be a determinant of purpose, sense of life and an indicator of intrapersonal intelligence of students? The research aim was to consider the existence of connectedness between academic achievement and conceptualization of purpose. Systematic non-experimental observation was used. Research sample is a convenience sample, consisting of students from the universities of Belgrade, Novi Sad and Niš (N=724). Students with average grade above 9,00 are taken as potentially gifted (Renzulli, 1978; Callahan & Miller, 2005), a category which was established through academic achievement (N=128; 17,7%). The basic findings refer to the following: (1) Academic achievement is an important factor influencing the way the students understand purpose; (2) Conceptualization of purpose varies depending on gender, age, type of faculty and study program, indicating that there is a need for new studies dealing with the observed phenomenon

METHODS AND STRATEGIES USED TO ENHANCE CORRECT WRITING

    No full text
Writing is one of the fundamental acquisitions of any 1st grader. It represents the shift from the status of†illiterate†to†literateâ€; learning to write is the foundation of a child`s thinking thinking. It enhances the acquisition of knowledge, communication skills, writing being also an important aspect as writing is in close connection to reading. This study is an attempt to clarify certain issues related to the implementation of efficient methods used to develop correct writing skills, to the explanation of some methodological uncertainties starting with the communicative-functional model used in learning Romanian. The experiment focused on the manner the 1st graders enhance writing

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN HEALTH AND TRUST AS INDIVIDUAL VALUES

    No full text
The theory of basic human values measures universal values that are recognizedthroughout all major cultures. Schwartz's theory has refined the set of 19 basicindividual values that serve as guiding principles in the life of a person or group, further describing the dynamic relationships among them. The present study presentspractical evidence of the dynamics between individual values. We have developed anonline questionnaire of 46 items with response options on a Lickert scale from 1 to 6,where 1 represents less important and 6 represent very important. 220 young peoplefrom Western Romania voluntarily responded. By testing the hypothesis assuming thedynamic relationship between the two values through multiple regression analysis, the results demonstrate that in Model 1, which involves a linear relationship, healthexplains 12% of the variance in trust with a F =161,215 significant at p <.01. InModel 2, which involves a curvilinear relationship, health explains 13% of thevariance in trust with a F = 35,336 significant at p <.01. The incremental predictioncapacity of 1% added by including the squared trust variable accounts for the band inthe regression line, indicating the existence of a curvilinear relationship between trustand health. This curvilinear relationship demonstrates that extreme aspects, extremely low and extremely high levels of trust, significantly influence the healthvalue in a negative way. Normal levels of trust trigger a high level of prioritization ofhealth value. The implications of this type of relationship are discussed in explainingthe value phenomenon at individual level. The study shows limits due to the selectedsample, focusing exclusively on young people with higher education from the Westernregion of Romania. This sample was the target group of "The National Identity ofRomanian Youth" project which funded this research
