The personality profile of the physiotherapist - Dominant features and counselling needs

    Get PDF
In recent years, in Romania, the name and competencies of the physiotherapist profession have sparked differences and controversy between the providers of training for the field of "medical physical rehabilitation". What is the paradigm that governs this area of activity? Science of Sports versus Medical Sciences, sports and motor-rehabilitation faculties or medical faculties? The Order of Physiotherapists in Romania refers to "professional and educational disagreements" affecting the level of public perception and not only the status of the profession, the quality of specialists and their interventions in what is called the â€superior interest†or the benefit of the patients. In this study we will focus on the cross-competencies necessary for specialists in motricity specialization (physical rehabilitation exercises) which, when working with the patient, must exhibit an adequate attitude system and an optimal value set, which will serve to establish a successful therapeutic relationship. To reach the objectives and verify the research hypotheses, we applied on a number of 120 students, the Myers-Briggs Typology Indicator (MBTI) and the Professional Counselling Sheet, both instruments being designed to develop the personality profile of the subjects and assess the compatibility level with the physiotherapist profession. The results obtained from the evaluations were statistically processed and comparisons were made between the subgroups included in the research, according to age and sex criteria

Introduction: Sports performance and all physical exercise depend on thecoordination of skeletal muscle activation by providing the strength andpower that translates into the ability of the movement. Today, it is generallyaccepted that sprint performance, like endurance performance, can improveconsiderably with training. Strength training, especially, plays a key role inthis process. Aim: The purpose of the study was to find out how the plyometricexercises influence the development of elastic force improving stages ofspeed running for the 30m; 30-60m and 60m. Methodology: This literaturewas selected by different research sectors that are based on the internet like„Jab Ref†„PubMed†„Google Scholar†„Medline†„Sports Discussâ€. Ourstudy is focused on 39 subjects, students of the „Sports University of Tiranaâ€Students were separated into 2 groups. The average age of the participantswas 19-20 years. In our study we involve 1(one) experimental groups, respectivelythis group was trained with plyometric exercises and the Controlgroup. In order to collect data for contact time, and speed running is usedthese measuring instruments Brower Timing Systems 2010, Leonardo Mechanograph® GRFP standard variant of STD. Results and conclusion: Theexperimental group showed improvement in running speed for the 0-30mdistance with 4.7% m/sec for average group values. Compared to the Controlgroup, the results for this distance indicated for sig≤0.05. For the 30-60m distancethe speed improved by 3.96% m/sec for the average value in the group. Compared to the Control group the results for this distance showed valuesof sig=0.11 not significant for sig≤0.05. For the 60m distance, the speed wasupgraded to 3.53% m/sec for average group values. Compared to the Controlgroup, the results for this distance showed sig=0.08 for sig≤0.05. In controlgroup, the contact time indicator from the height 40cm showed correlationwith running speed for the three (3) measured distances where for 0-30mwith r = -0.605; 30-60m with values of r = -0.540 and 60m with values of r =0.566. Based on the above results, the plyometric method applied in the experimentalgroup showed more correlation between contact time by h=40cmand the running speed on acceleration phase 0-30m

Social conditioning for the self-harm behaviour in adolescence

    Get PDF
The most common causes of self-harm in adolescents are related to family (abuse, arguments with parents, poor communication), school (bullying), and behaviour (cyberbullying, illicit substance use, rejection by a boy or girl friend). Adolescents self-mutilate because of difficulty talking about their feelings, of peer contagion, of peer pressure, of suicidal thoughts; out of anger / desperation to seek attention, to show their hopelessness, to show their worthlessness; to be accepted, to rebel, to reject their parents’ values, to state their individuality, or to take risks. Adolescents who self-harm are, usually, adolescents with multiple problems such as co-morbid psychiatric disorders (anorexia nervosa, anxiety state, Bipolar Disorder, conduct disorder, depression, hyperactivity, Post Traumatic Disorder, psychosis), educational failure (learning problems, school refusal), and impaired psychosocial functioning; who come from families with high psychopathology rates; and who may have lived unhappy life events. Depressive disorder is less common among pre-adolescents, with no gender difference; mid-adolescence self-harm behaviour shows a female preponderance, which is also found in adult females. &nbsp

PHILOSOPHY AS A PRACTICE OF A WISE LIFE: doi>10.24250/JPE/1/2020/RP

The formation of philosophy as a form of consciousness of its own kind was accompanied by the belief that its creators were some strange people, belonging to a special strain, amiss (atopos), just as their reality in the world of people (atopia). Philosophers have affirmed these qualificatives throughout thehistory of philosophy. They were building their identity through a pure spiritual aspiration to uncover the highest principles of everything that was happening, with an open critical opinion of the existing social reality and a particular way of living.Their existence in the world, characterized by a constant effort to rise above the sphere of everyday life, is a process of a tense state of mind between the set paradigm of a wise life and the attempt to achieve it. This tension manifests itself in the discursive plane through the abstract - speculative reflection about the essential questions of the world and man, and in the existential plane through the constant need to step out of the world of trivial things.Ancient philosophical experience shows that this stepping out entailed contemplation on which not only the most profound theorizing but also the process of self-change was based, through gaining independence from external goods (autarchy) and releasing oneself from passion (ataraxia), which should have ultimately led to the realization of the highest social good. In addition to the contribution of ancient philosophy to building the spiritual and moral integrity of philosophers, this paper actualizes another practical role of philosophy in improving life that has stemmed from the imbalance status of a modern-age individual who is increasingly in need of counseling support from practitioner philosophers for the purpose of stimulating the individual in self-perceiving of problems, establishing a secure thinking base and finding solutions to specific life and professional issues

Body appreciation and eating behavior among children has to receive a special attention in the psychological and health literature, so that the society together with the family can prevent body image impairment for children and obtain their positive body appreciation and to decrease their negative eating attitudes. . The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between child's body appreciation, their eating attitude and the importance of their parents’ educational behaviors in the context of parental marital status. In this respect, 265 children from different schools have completed psychological instruments that measure the level of body appreciation, children’s eating attitudes and they give demographic data which contain their parent’s marital status. For statistical purposes, r Pearson correlation and t Test were run. The results showed that a lower level of body appreciation correlates with a higher level of negative eating attitudes of Romanian children and no significant differences were found between children who have divorced parents and children who are in a united family in terms of attitude towards food and body appreciation

The importance of teachers in our societies is, no doubt, very high. Thechanges in education makes repeated demands on teachers and schoolleaders to develop new competences, and to work together in different waysto those accepted historically. Over recent years, big attention of manyresearches was dedicated to matters of policy in respect of teachers andschool leaders. It is important to understand what makes a teacher as aleader and what are his roles in this matter. Why are we asking that ?Because developing school leaders requires clearly defining theirresponsibilities, providing access to appropriate professional developmentthroughout their careers, and acknowledging their pivotal role inimproving school and student performance. The aim of the paper is topresent the bibliographical researches and the different roles andresponsibilities of 21st century school leaders. The next question will behow can we succeeded in developing effective school leaders? The paperis the result of an Erasmus project named â€Teachers Teachers-Leaders-Teachers as Leaders and Trendsetters of Changingâ€
