ETHICAL PERCEPTIONS OF ENGINEERING STUDENTS ABOUT CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM: 10.24250/jpe/2/2020/LP/AP
Academic dishonesty is an important issue in education that continues to be a worldwide problem in the academic field. This paper embodies the findings from a small part of a larger study on academic dishonesty. Its purpose was to investigate the frequency of cheating and plagiarism behaviours, reasons, attitudes towards cheating and plagiarism and to find out ways to prevent and reduce cheating and plagiarism. This study was conducted through a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire completed by 466 engineering students at the bachelor and master level at a university from Romania. The study indicates that cheating and plagiarism are sometimes common among students, while the need to increase attitudes so as to modify students' behaviours toward honest classroom practices has been identified. Students felt that passing exams was a strong reason for cheating and plagiarism. The study also proposes several recommendations to mitigate levels of academic misconduct
DIFFERENCES IN THE ATTITUDE TOWARDS READING AFTER ONE YEAR OF MIXED- CLASSIC AND ON-LINE TEACHING DURING COVID-19. A CASE STUDY BASED ON A PRIMARY CLASSROM: 10.24250/JPE/2/2020/RH
Reading is influenced by a series of factors that depend both on the reader, as well as on the text or on the background. In regard to the students, the attitude towards reading is an affective-motivational variable, which mobilizes the energy resources towards the reading activity. On the other hand, the manner through which the text is presented or the context of the subject of Romanian language is taught may be the connectors of the formation of a positive attitude towards reading. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of a mixed-classic and online teaching year on the attitude towards reading in the case of a primary class. The scores before and after the mixed teaching have indicated a constant attitude towards reading, but also a significant increase in the attitude towards academic reading as compared to the recreational one, after the online period. There are provided suggestions of instructional design that include the digitalization of the teaching strategies
Empowering Nigerian Women Entrepreneurs through Microfinance
This study investigated the impact ofmicrofinance interventions on the psychologicaland economic conditions of womenentrepreneurs. Specifically, it focused on 15women entrepreneurs who had benefited frommicro loans and leases from the FederalUniversity of Technology Microfinance Bank(FMB) in the Nigerian city of Minna. Athematic analysis of the interview sessions withthese women revealed that both microfinanceinterventions had a significant positive impact inempowering them psychologically andeconomically. However, it was recommendedthat for this positive impact to be amplified toinclude more women entrepreneurs, thequalifying requirements had to be made moreflexible by adopting a social collateral approachrather than the traditional physical collateralapproach currently adopted
Entrepreneurship Education at Tertiary Level in Bangladesh
This study presents the results of a needassessment survey on entrepreneurshipeducation conducted at BBA and MBAprograms of a tertiary level university inBangladesh. For this purpose, Institute ofBusiness Administration (IBA-JU) and fourdepartments of Faculty of Business Studies:Department of Finance & Banking, Departmentof Marketing, Department of ManagementStudies and Department of Accounting andInformation Systems at JahangirnagarUniversity were targeted for this survey. Surveyon needs assessment was carried out based onfactual data and perceptual data. Factual datawere collected through review of BBA andMBA curricula of the target institutions.Perceptual data were collected fromundergraduate and graduate level students, alumni and faculty members through structuredquestionnaires, focus group discussions (FGD)and key informant interviews (KII). It isobserved that neither the target institutions offermajor/minor in entrepreneurship, nor the need for entrepreneurship education is fulfilled by theexisting curricula. There seems to be interestamong students in learning entrepreneurship andpursuing such a career, however, institutionalsupport is lacking significantly in case ofBangladesh. Recommendations to address theneed are also discussed
EXCESSIVE INTERNET USE AND PARENT-CHILD RELATIONSHIP
The main objective of this study was to investigate the connection between problematic Internet use and the parent-child relationship. Starting from Vygotsky’s theory (1978), which emphasized the importance of interaction in child development, the present research is based on identifying changes in children’s and parents’ behavior, when using the Internet. The participants (N = 204) completed the KPS scale of parental satisfaction, the index of family distress (FDI), the scale of family communication (FPSC) and the PCIAT index, for excessive Internet use. The results showed a statistically significant association between problematic internet use and parental satisfaction, family communication, family distress.

Predictors of lack of emotional awareness in emotional regulation of youth facing online hate speech
Digital natives are wellknown multiplier vector factors that perform a massive impact on youth over the internet. Digital naratives usually have both positive and negative impact on individuals’ wellbeing. Starting from the assumption that lack of emotional awareness in emotional regulation of youth in tensed digital environments can be predicted by several socio-psychological individual characteristics, our team has investigated variable relationships under a micro research driven from the database collected under the Erasmus+ project Hate’s Journey. Our team has elaborated an 18 items online instrument designed with single item measures, DERS-SF and other scales, investigating diverse perceptions regarding digital wellbeing and conduit. Under the project investigation, we have analyzed 206 valid responses of youth from Romania, Turkey, Spain and Latvia. Multiple linear regression analysis results confirm that internet content awareness, ignoring attitude towards the negative effects of hate speech, and digital behavior regulation, represent significant predictors, accounting for 46% of lack of emotional awareness in emotional regulation variance of youth facing online hate speech. Conclusions and implications are discussed
DROUGHT STRESS INFLUENCE ON PEA PLANTS (PISUM SATIVUM L.)
Pisum sativum L. (garden peas) are highly nutritious vegetable crops destined for human consumption. Pea seedsare a valuable source of protein (23–25 %), slowly digestible starch (50 %), soluble carbohydrates (5 %), insolublefibers, and important sources of vitamins and minerals. Apart from the genetic (variety) differences, the chemical contentof pea seeds is influenced by environmental factors (cultivation area, soil composition and characteristics, trace elementsand minerals, total rainfall or lack of rain, relative humidity, solarization, average temperatures, etc.).In this study, we analyzed the drought stress on Petit Provencal, a commonly used garden pea variety in Romania. In the case of drought stress, the plants suppress stomatal opening to conserve water. During this experiment, the plantphotosynthetic parameters as assimilation rate and stomatal conductance have been decreased linearly with soil watercapacity. The light dependence curves of photosynthetic parameters have been shown a sharp decrease at low soil watercontent. The recovery parameters achieved the same values after seven days of normal watering. The polyphenols contentof the seeds does not vary significantly for plants normally watered compared to those kept in drought stres

Board Characteristics and Performance of Quoted Consumer Goods Firms: Evidence from Nigeria
Corporate governance has become a worldwideconcern over the year due to numerous corporatefinancial failures which has redirected theattention of policy makers to the significance ofboard characteristics. This study examined therelationship between board characteristics andperformance of quoted Nigerian consumergoods firms. This study adopted historicalresearch design and ten firms were selected fromthe population of twenty-seven Nigerian listedconsumer goods firms, as at 2017, using simplerandom sampling technique. Secondary dataover a period of seven years (2011-2017) wasobtained from the annual reports of the selectedfirms. Analysis was performed on data collectedadopting Auto Regressive Distributed Lag(ARDL) Regression and other post estimationtechniques to determine the existence ofrelationship between the variables. The resultsof the study showed significant relationshipsbetween board independence, board diligenceand performance of consumer goods firms(p<0.05). However, there is insignificant relationship between board size, boardcomposition and performance of consumergoods firms (p>0.05). The study concluded thatregular board meetings and board independenceplay significant roles in timely decision makingsthat affect the overall firm’s objective. Hence, the study recommended a regular boardmeetings and board independence that will beefficient in taking vital decisions that affect thefirm’s overall performance
Alexithymia in Adolescents: A Review of Literature
Alexithymia has been extensively studied for almost five decades now all over the world, except for Romania. This paper presents an overview of literature in the field of alexithymia, in general: it provides the etymology of the word alexithymia, its various definitions, its main types (primary, secondary, organic, and normative), and its features. Alexithymia in adolescents has been studied from different perspectives (behavioural, biological, communicational, epistemological, legal, medical, neurobiological, neuropsychological, neuropsychiatric, neuroscientific, psychiatric, psychological, and psychosomatic), in relation to associated conditions (antisocial behaviour (including ADHD), anxiety, delinquency, depression, dissociation, eating disorders, generalised anxiety disorder, other mental disorders, psychiatric symptoms, somatic symptom disorder, suicide risk) or behaviours (aggressive behaviour, deliberate self-harm, risk of problematic Internet use, cognitive reappraisal strategies, borderline personality disorder, anxiety and depression). Researchers have focused on alexithymia and age, gender and culture, tried to identify possible causes of this disorder (childhood family environment, digital / video game addiction or gaming disorder or Internet addiction or Internet gaming disorder, Internet-related disorder, disadvantageous living conditions in childhood, early life experiences, emotional abuse and neglect, emotional difï¬culties with caregivers during childhood, lack of social support, parents with alcohol-use problems, systematic abuses and/or abandonment in childhood or early adolescence) and predictors of alexithymia (attachment style, children’s perception of a neglectful parenting style, deficit in speech development, less cognitive capacity, low self-control of emotions, parents’ alexithymic traits). The article is a plea in favour of explicit assessments of alexithymia before initiating psychological treatments and adequate address of adolescents’ mood disorders
