THEORETICAL APPROACH OF CRITICAL THINKING IN EDUCATION: 10.24250/jpe/1/2022/AFR/CN

    No full text
We have chosen this research topic because we believe that critical thinking has a key role in the formation and development of self-assessment capacity. Critical thinking takes information, evaluates it and processes it so that it can be understood and form its own point of view. In order to develop this type of thinking for young school-age students, it is necessary to approach the activities specific to this age, activities that are understandable to students, that will arouse their interest. The student who forms his critical thinking will more easily understand mathematical problems, understand a text and analyze it without having to resort to mechanical memory. Because through critical thinking new information and knowledge is accumulated, voluntarily, thus, an own opinion will be formed. If the student comes to have his own opinion which he supports through valid arguments, he will become able to decide for himself

BUILDING HIGH QUALITY IN EARLY EDUCATION FOR SOCIAL WELL-INTEGRATION : 10.24250/jpe/1/2022/GK

    No full text
Early education experiences today a pedagogical approach which covers the period from birth to the age of 6/7. It is the period when the child begins school and also when significant changes occur in the child`s development. The concept of early education comprising the collocation “early child development” and including education, protection and health has widened. It has fallen under the age of 3 after the World Conference from Jomtien (Thailand) in 1990 when the concept of education for all expended and a new concept was introduced, namely “lifelong learning” and along with it the idea that education starts at birth. Thus, this situation led to new approaches in state policies on young children, bringing together the social, educational and sanitary (health and nutrition) environment. This new perspective on early childhood, influenced by the evolution of family and the role of women in society brought about changes in the orientation of specialists and of those who reconstruct socio-educational strategies and policies. They tried to develop new “out of family” child care and education opportunities by creating specialized services. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Children states the principles of convergent approach of children, including health, education and child protection in terms of well-being and development. It tries to exclude aspects such as: social exclusion, any type of child discrimination, respect for the children`s rights, provision of a good start in life for all children, surcease of child exploitation, access to education for all children, the children`s and teenager`s right to an opinion, participation in decision making, child protection and investment in schools. Romania, by adhering to the United Europe (M. Korintus, 2000) has aligned to these demands by implementing educational policies favourable to the development and progress of children from birth throughout their lives. Our country has implemented educational reforms proper to education, child care and fostering according to its nature, interests and aspirations, so that even the children stay in rural or urban location, they have the same opportunities for proper development

Nowadays, because of the fast pace of life, which for many parents means less time spent with their children and less control over their lives, the latter spend extremely much time in front of the computer or smartphone. Thus parent-child communication in particular and face-to-face communication of young people in general have suffered greatly, and given the fact that in adolescence period the brain structure is developing, and during this period the personality of each individual crystallizes, thus there is a risk that some teenagers develop an anxious personality in real life social situations. The aim of this paper is to examine the relationships between internet addiction, social anxiety, depression and lack of control in adolescents, motivated by the fact that this is a topic that addresses an acute problem facing today's society, and trends in the use of gadgets that provide access to the internet and social networks such as the phone, tablet or laptop is increasing from year to year. &nbsp

FT-IR CHARACTERIZATION OF CELLULOSE CRYSTALLINITY FROM RAW BAST FIBERS

    Get PDF
This paper presents the characterization of native cellulose from the jute, hemp, and flax raw fibers byinfrared evaluation of crystallinity ratio (Total Crystallinity Index and Lateral Order Index) and Hydrogen BondIntensity. The results showed that cellulose from jute fiber has a higher degree of crystallinity while that of hemp fibershas a more ordered structure, with more cellulose chains in a highly organized form. In the flax fibers, the cellulosechains are composed of a larger number of amorphous domains. Hydrogen bond intensity values were influenced byboth the ordered cellulose structure and the lignin content of the fibers

The influence of non-active lockdowns on children’s motor development through SARS-CoV-2 pandemic

While the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic took the whole world by surprise, humanitysought to organize itself in the fight against an unseen enemy by now. Theschool has moved into the online teaching system, and physical educationclasses have not been nearly what they used to be. Purpose: In this study, wetried to investigate how children’s motor development was influenced due tolack of physical activity because of school closure during the pandemic inorder to know if it has influenced the weight of children by collecting data onbody mass index (BMI). Methods: the anthropometric and motor capacitymeasurements; the method of comparing the results obtained with those ofthe National ‘Biomotric project’; the bibliographic studying; the data collection;the graphic representation and the data analysis and interpretation. Thestudy subjects/participants were 119 boys and 85 girls aged between 7-14years old. Results: We measured the motor development before the pandemic(AP), respectively February 2020, and during the pandemic (DP), respectivelyOctober 2020. The item categories represent the data collected fromthe motor tests applied to the children when they were physically presentat schools, such as mobility, long jump from the spot, abdominal crunches, and speedrunning tests on the following distances: 25m for 1st grade, 30mfor 2nd to 4th grade and 50 m for 5th to 8th grade. We chose to refer to thevalue of the median in order to eliminate, as much as possible, the influence  of the extreme values recorded. Conclusions: There are minimal differencesbetween the results obtained in the tests before the pandemic and those duringthe pandemic period. Although we would have expected the influence ofnon-active lockdown to be more significant than when schools were opened,in the sense of decreasing children’s motor skills, it can be seen that this wasnot the case for students from Maarif International Schools of Bucharest

Three hundred and eighty-one respondents wereused for the study from seven faculties in Al-Hikmah University. Students’ Perception onSchool Services Questionnaire (SPSSQ) was used for data collection. Two research questionswere raised and answered to guide the conduct of the study. Descriptive statistics of frequencycounts, percentages, mean and standard deviation was used to analyze the demographicinformation of the respondents and to answer the research questions raised. Findings showedthat the level of students’ perception on academic services, guidance and counselling services, admission services, health services, power supply services and library services in Al-HikmahUniversity, Ilorin was high and that of extra-curricular services and internet services was low.Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that the management of Al-HikmahUniversity should improve on the school services for students in the areas of extra-curricularservices and internet services so that effective teaching and learning could be improved onstudents’ academic achievement

TOWARDS A MORE EQUAL ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION: HYBRID LEARNING: 10.24250/JPE/2/2022/EGS

    No full text
This paper explores a possible solution that aims to alleviate the unequal access to education. Face-to-face learning has been the norm for a long time and is the incumbent system. However, the pandemic was a turning point. This paper discusses how this change in the world’s landscape can lead to the strengthening of a niche system – namely, hybrid learning. By continuing to offer hybrid education in a post-pandemic world, the average number of students from lower socio-economic classes will increase. This paper first looks into the education systems map – exploring the in-flows and out-flows for the number of students at a time in university. Then, system traps are mentioned, where the problem with the incumbent system becomes clear. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is thus formulated, followed by an explanation of how to achieve this. The appendix offers two figures that add a lot of crucial information to this paper

The essential oil obtained from Melaleuca alternifolia is widely used in complementary and alternative medicine due to its antioxidant, antimicrobial, and antifungal activity. The evaluation of the chemical composition of the essential oil available on the market is important especially when allergic potency is reported. The present study evaluated the chemical composition of seven tea tree essential oils by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. All the analysed samples exhibited a terpinen-4-ol chemotype
