    No full text
In this paper, we study the action of a double infinite matrix A on f in Hvp (weighted Banach space, 1 less than or equal to p less than or equal to infinity) and on its wavelet coefficients. Also, we find the frame condition for A-transform of f in Hvp whose wavelet series expansion is known

On Nonuniform Polynomial Stability for Evolution Operators on the Half-line

    Get PDF
The main aim of this paper is to study a concept of nonuniform polynomial stability for evolution operators onthe half-line. The obtained results are variants for nonuniform polynomial stability of some well-known theorems dueto Barbashin, Datko, Rolewicz and Zabczyk in the case of uniform exponential stability. This paper generalizes wellknownresults for the nonuniform exponential stability (Lupa & Megan, 2012) and the uniform polynomial stability(Megan & Ceausu, 2012)

This study examines the efficacy of a Kata-based technical training programme in improving Judo technique execution. Conducted over eight months (September 27, 2021-April 27, 2022) at the Municipal Sports Club in Bucharest, the experiment involved 16 performance-level judokas with a minimum of five years of experience. A structured Nage-No-Kata programme was implemented three times weekly, with initial and final assessments evaluating Kata performance and competition technique (Ippon scoring). Wilcoxon test results revealed significant improvements (p < 0.05) in Kata execution (W = 3.5, Z = -3.20) and Ippon performance (W = 0, Z = -3.51), with effect sizes of 0.80 and 0.87, respectively, indicating a strong positive impact. The findings of this experiment on the use of the Kata tool in Judo sports training for enhancing technical proficiency show that competitive performance can be improved. However, limiting factors place this study in the position of a starting point for future research on this topi

STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS OF COLLABORATIVE LEARNING APPROACH AND THE INTERPLAY OF SOME DEMOGRAPHIC VARIABLES IN LEARNING BASIC SCIENCE: 10.24250/jpe/1/2025/NKO/STA/SMO/

In recent pedagogical innovations aimed at enhancingstudents' understanding of basic scientific knowledge, thecollaborative learning approach (CLA) has emerged as anenterprising pedagogical approach. However, there has beenlimited research attention on students' perceptions of the use ofCLA amidst its obvious benefits. For this purpose, students’perception, toward the use of CLA in Basic Science wasevaluated. Using cross-sectional survey design and Socialcognitive theory (SCT), students learning behaviour andperception were explained. Data have been collected throughquestionnaires from basic education students. Descriptivestatistics were utilized to answer the research questions, whilehypothesis testing was conducted using independent sample ttestsand ANOVA at a 0.05 alpha level. The findings providedevidence that students’ perception is generally positive towardsthe use of CLA, & no significant difference in the perception ofmale & female students was observed. The findings also providedevidence that there is no significant difference between students’birth order and their perceptions of CLA in the classroom.Amongst all, the classroom setting & teacher relationship withthe students should be revisited to enhance equal participationof males & females

EXPLORING OTHERNESS THROUGH SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL): AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ REFLECTIONS AND CHOICE OF TOPIC: 10.24250/jpe/si/2025/GM/

This article will explore students’ choice of topics and theirreflections in a course on Otherness taught to a class ofpre-service teachers of English as a Foreign Language(EFL). Tenets of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) wereused in teaching a seminar in English (the students’ L2),focusing on self-awareness, self-management and socialawareness. Several theories of Otherness coupled withliterary and media examples were presented, and thestudents then had a free choice of topics for research fromeight categories of Otherness: age, gender, disability,race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, economic status, religion, and supernatural Otherness. The students’(N=90) choice of topics between 2020-2023 revealed thatmost students avoided culturally sensitive topics such asreligion and sexual orientation, and mostly opted forprofessionally motivated research subjects in the field ofeducation such as mental and physical disability. Aqualitative analysis of their reasons for choosing the topicsrevealed three categories: personal, professional andethical. In addition, students’ responses to the courserevealed that choosing their own topic led to bothmotivation and enjoyment of the course. Finally, theimportance of allowing students to choose a topic inHigher Education will be discussed, as well as theimplications for SEL in the EFL classroom

This paper explored the principal’s pattern of decisionmakingin secondary schools in Kwara State, Nigeria. Thestudy makes use of descriptive design. The respondentsconsisted of 2,777 teaching staff in the 398 public schoolsand 7,969 teachers in the 249 private schools in Kwara. Asample size of 338 and 367 teaching staff in the twoschools was used as respondents, respectively, using thetable of sample size by Krejcie and Morgan (1970). Aresearcher-designed instrument titled the PrincipalsDecision-Making Patterns of Questionnaire (PDMPQ) wasutilized for data collection. It was revealed in the studyprincipals' decision-making patterns (P<.05); there was aconsiderable difference in the decision-making pattern oninstructional supervision ((P<.05); there was a significantdifference in decision-making pattern of principals onconflict resolutions (P<.05); and lastly, there wasconsiderable difference in principals' decision-makingpattern on disciplinary act (P< 05) in Kwara State. In linewith the results, it was recommended that principals ofsecondary schools should formulate clear instructionalsupervision decisions regarding the operations of theirschools. Also, the principals should formulate effectiveconflict resolution decisions so as to improve therelationship of school members. Lastly, the principals, as amatter of urgency, make sound decisions on disciplinarymeasures and ensure that they are placed in conspicuousplaces for the students and staff to see
