Dal newtonismo al darwinismo epistemologico. Considerazioni filosofico-educative sulla categoria di transazione in John Dewey
No full textThe present contribution addresses the meaning of the category of transaction by construing it as Dewey’s attempt to fine-tune a conceptual tool that fully reckons with “the influence of Darwin upon philosophy” and takes leave from the inchoative modernity, dominated by a ‘mechanical’ transfer of a ‘Newtonian’ mindset to the field of the social sciences. In reference to educational reflection, I argue that this understanding of the transaction is intimately connected to what Dewey calls the “principle of transition.”Riassunto: Nel contributo si illustrerà il significato della categoria di transazione interpretandola come il tentativo di Dewey di mettere a punto uno strumento concettuale che faccia pienamente i conti con “l'influenza di Darwin sulla filosofia” e prenda congedo dal moderno incoativo, dominato da una meccanica trasposizione di una forma mentis 'newtoniana' al campo delle scienze sociali (o morali, come Dewey talora preferiva chiamarle). Si argomenterà, infine, in riferimento alla riflessione pedagogica come tale comprensione della transazione sia intimamente connessa a quello che Dewey chiama "principio di transizione".

No full textThis essay examines Kafka’s use of the epistolary genre by discussing three examples (a letter to his friend Oskar Pollak, one other to Felice Bauer and the famous Letter to his Father), which have very different recipients and belong to three distant moments in his writing production. Nevertheless, they all demonstrate as a common link the vanishing of the boundaries between literature and epistolary expression. As for his diaristic production, the autobiographical form of letter turns out to be only a way to present the author behind a literary mask through the infinite kaleidoscope of refractions which is allowed by his implicit dialogue between sender und recipient
Soggettività e ibridazioni percettive nella scrittura di Richard Dehmel
No full textRichard Dehmel stands out within the ‘fin de siècle’ cultural plurality for his radical symbolism, animated by the sharpness of the poet’s perception. To Dehmel the typical symbolistic principle, according to which every object mirrors and refracts the others in a relation of correspondence with no continuity, does not require subjectivity to get lost in a multitude of divergent, incompatible impressions, as it happens in Mach and in some of Bahr’s, Schnitzler’s and Hofmannsthal’s critical writing. Dehmel projects the power to semantise reality onto the sensitive ability of the aesthetic individual. Such power draws from the premise that the symbol is the most suitable device to represent totality aesthetically with the aid of the fruitful associative connections it creates. This essay aims at summing up Dehmel’s theoretical writing on the matter, as well as to investigate how the aspiration to synesthetic empowering of the poetical word takes shape in a systematic hybridization between the sensorial fields

No full textThis paper intends to investigate, within the coordinates of the expressionistmovement Der blaue Reiter, Franz Marc’s art (1880-1916)in a constant and significant comparison between the visual and theoreticaldimensions of his work (see also his correspondence with ElseLasker-Schüler, as well as his war writings). In line with Kandinsky’sposition, Franz Marc believes each shape possesses its own ‘content-force’. Far from being objective content, each shape is rather leftto be identified with a capability of acting as a psychological stimulus.This content is not captured by the normal eye, but by a ‘secondsight’. It connects Umwelt and Innenwelt, which is closer to the heartof nature. Unlike abstract art, however, Marc utilizes shapes in theform of the Nervenkunst, whose metaphor is the animal, i.e. the undisputedprotagonist of his art

No full textThis article goes through, with a pedagogical view, the thought of authors and schools relevant for the evolution of the concept of punishment in Italy, giving a contribution to the analysis of the knowing models of human action. The reflection is on the penitentiary treatment calibrated on the specificity of the individual, in the awareness that the afflictive sanction, otherwise, has no educational value, on the contrary, it feeds the delinquent activity. The goal is to achieve a ‘possible change’ for the prisoner through educational strategies and innovative training processes. The key role of the educator is emphasized, his intervention must be based on observation and interaction with the prisoner, whose human dimension is witnessed and represented. Riassunto: Il presente articolo attraversa, con sguardo pedagogico, il pensiero di autori e di scuole di rilievo per l’evoluzione del concetto di pena in Italia, offrendo un contributo all’analisi dei modelli conoscitivi dell’azione umana. La riflessione è sul trattamento penitenziario calibrato sulla specificità dell’individuo, nella consapevolezza che la sanzione afflittiva, diversamente, non ha alcun valore pedagogico, anzi, alimenta l’attività delinquenziale. L’obiettivo è il raggiungimento per il detenuto di un ‘cambiamento possibile’ attraverso strategie educative e innovativi processi formativi. Viene messo in evidenza il ruolo chiave dell’educatore, il cui intervento deve basarsi sull’osservazione e sull’interazione con il detenuto, di cui se ne testimonia e se ne rappresenta la dimensione umana

No full textSince the 1960s, Canadian farms have taken over the workforce from abroad through temporary migration programs. This kind of hiring expanded exponentially in Canadian agriculture over the last 25 years. The article focuses on the daily work experience of seasonal migrant workers in the province of Québec. Through a relational approach, we identify specific expectations that employers have towards seasonal migrant workers compared to the local workers and placement agencies workers. We highlight how temporary migration programs are not only answers to a labor shortage but also serve to format an ideal figure of agricultural worker to granter the competiveness of the Québec agriculture economy in the neoliberal context. The article is based on observant participation in four farms and interviews with workers, employers and institutional actors in Québec, between 2014 and 2017.Keywords: Temporary Foreign Worker Programs; Québec; Agriculture Production; Workplace; Ethnography
