No full textEarly modern writers pursued several purposes in writing down their travel impressions, mostly pragmatic ones; only gradually did travelogues become a separate genre of memorabilia, which served for entertainment and edification, but also for self-expression. Based on a corpus of manuscripts and prints from the period 1520 to 1694, the essay analyses the author-reader constellation of these travelogues and the speaker and reference roles to determine the extent to which they can represent initial approaches to a development of the first-person narrative

Blending authentic sounds recorded in the streets with Baroqueand contemporary music, quotations from famous visitors suchas Vergil or Goethe, Bloch or Benjamin and the crime statistics foundin Saviano’s Gomorra, Herbst represents the living world under thevolcano as a most paradoxical mix of vitality and fear, courage and violence.Since the actual reality of Naples essentially interferes with itshistory and mythology, the only adequate (i.e. poetically justified) wayto reveal it to the listeners at home is the radical collage
The role of caseworkers in asylum reception in Bologna: between pedagogical competencies and socio-political contradictions
No full textThe current features of the migration of asylum seekers and refugees to Europe call for a redefinition of the tasks and scope of educational and social work. After a brief examination of the policies and national guidelines of SPRAR (Protection System for Asylum Seekers and Refugees) in Italy, this article uses a pedagogical perspective to investigate the role of caseworkers in the Italian asylum reception system. Based on an empirical understanding of the everyday challenges of this professional practice, this paper shows the contradictions of the system through the perspectives of caseworkers. In particular, the paper highlights the gap between the institutional guidelines of SPRAR services concerning the role of caseworkers and practices on the ground. The article illustrates how the educational and training dimension, as well as pedagogical and intercultural competencies, are fundamental to the construction of caseworkers’ professionalism.

No full textAt the light of the data offered by the Italian Society of Psychiatry (SIEP), Campania was in 2017 one of the worst Italian Regions in the field of mental health care. This paper sketches the evolution of the mental health policies in Campania since the promulgation of Law 180, analysing the consequences of bad political choices which has taken so early as the 1980s. These choices were denounced with foresight by one of the great protagonists of Italian anti-institutional Psychiatry, namely Sergio Piro. Unfortunately, Piro’s prediction shave comes true. But the gravity of the problems becoming the object of shared awareness and one may hope that the reconstruction of the past and present deficiencies can be helpful to individuate the points of most urgent intervention.Keywords:Sergio Piro, Psychiatric Reform, Mental Health Services
