Determinants of renewable energy consumption in Madagascar Evidence from feature selection algorithms
Supplemental Materials: https://osf.io/xdau4/The aim of this note is to identify the factors influencing renewable energy consumption in Madagascar. We tested 12 features covering macroeconomic, financial, social, and environmental aspects, including economic growth, domestic investment, foreign direct investment, financial development, industrial development, inflation, income distribution, trade openness, exchange rate, tourism development, environmental quality, and urbanization. To assess their significance, we assumed a linear relationship between renewable energy consumption and these features over the 1990–2021 period. Next, we applied different machine learning feature selection algorithms classified as filter-based (relative importance for linear regression, correlation method), embedded (LASSO), and wrapper-based (best subset regression, stepwise regression, recursive feature elimination, iterative predictor weighting partial least squares, Boruta, simulated annealing, and genetic algorithms) methods. Our analysis revealed that the five most influential drivers stem from macroeconomic aspects. We found that domestic investment, foreign direct investment, and inflation positively contribute to the adoption of renewable energy sources. On the other hand, industrial development and trade openness negatively affect renewable energy consumption in Madagascar

Attracting Grade "A" Students in Library and Information Science in Nigeria
Library and Information Science schools in Nigeria are today situated in serious competitive environments characterized by challenges which they must cope with in order to survive, advance and become more relevant in the scheme of things. The extent to which they are willing and able to overcome these challenges will go a long way in determining the extent to which they can attract quality candidates for admission into their programmes. It is natural that employers of labour would prefer to hire individuals who would add value to their organizations. This expectation is even more pertinent for the library and information professionals in this digital era where ICTs have come to bear in all facets of library and information work as organizations are gradually becoming knowledge based so as to maintain a niche over others in the global economy. in this study, the researcher found out that, Library and information schools need to actively engage in marketing and outreach activities. This can include participating in education fairs, conferences, and open house sessions. Additionally, social media platforms and targeted advertisements can be used to reach potential students. Foster partnerships with libraries and information centers: Library and information schools should forge partnerships with libraries and information centers, both within Nigeria and internationally. These partnerships can provide research opportunities, access to resources, and potential employment options for students after graduatio
Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Advancements in the Pharmaceutical Field: A Comprehensive Review
The pharmaceutical industry has witnessed a paradigm shift with the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into various aspects of drug discovery, development, and healthcare delivery. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the impact of AI in the pharmaceutical field, highlighting its contributions, challenges, and prospects. We explore AI applications in drug discovery, clinical trials, personalized medicine, and healthcare management, emphasizing the potential benefits and ethical considerations associated with this transformative technology
Nurturing Rural Resilience: Coping Strategies and Collaborative Initiatives in South Africa’s COVID-19 Response
The susceptibility of rural areas to the challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic is readily apparent, particularly given the pre-existing conditions of poverty and resource limitations within these communities. Consequently, rural populations confront considerable adversity amid the pandemic. The capacity of these communities to withstand such challenges hinges upon their adeptness in managing the resultant impacts. This policy brief emanates from a research inquiry conducted within two distinct local municipalities in South Africa, namely Matatiele and Winnie Madikizela Mandela (WMM). It delineates the coping mechanisms employed by these municipalities to contend with the exigencies imposed by the COVID-19 crisis. Notably, strategies encompassing the mitigation of food insecurity, the diversification of income streams, the enhancement of emotional well-being, and the curtailment of expenditures assume primacy among individuals endeavouring to secure alternative means of sustenance. This observation underscores the fundamental role of coping strategies, often centred around the satisfaction of elemental requisites such as income generation and food provision. To fortify these communities against potential disruptions, cultivating resilient local institutions and implementing efficacious collaborative endeavours emerge as indispensable. Such measures empower communities to identify and adopt alternative livelihoods, concurrently facilitating the establishment of a supportive infrastructural framework.Africa Rapid Gran
On the topology of problems and their solutions
In this paper, we study the topology ofproblems and their solution spaces developed introduced in our first paper \cite{agama2022theory}. We introduce and study the notion of separability and quotient problem and solution spaces. This notions will form a basic underpinning for further studies on this topic
