    A Hybrid Spiral Project Based Learning Model for Microprocessor Course Teaching

Engineering departments need to responded for this requirement to develop their educational methods. researchers began to develop educational methods and measure their effectiveness.  This paper develops an educational method to educate microprocessor course. The educational model mixed the spiral method and project based learning to achieve the desirable goal. Educational activities used in the educational method like lecture, lab, and project. also, virtual lab developed to achieve better learning performance. The proposed educational method evaluated in two ways. First, statistical analysis for students’ scores shows significant differences and improvement in the learning outcome. second, students survey shows very positive impact on students learning

    The Effect of Elevated Temperature on the Lightweight Aggregate Concrete

    The use of lightweight concrete has become widely spread in concrete structures in the last years. Fire can be considered as a destructive hazard that attack concrete structures. In this research the effect of elevated temperature on lightweight aggregate concretes is studied. For this purpose, 81 cube shaped specimens were prepared from three different lightweight aggregate concrete mixes. After moist curing periods for 3, 7 and28 days, the specimens were subjected to ambient and elevated temperatures of 450?C and 650?C for 2hrs.The weight of the specimens before and after exposure to elevated temperatures was determined and the residual strength results for the specimens were compared. The results showed that, the elevated temperature induces a decrease in strength and significant weight losses in lightweight aggregate concrete

    Writer Identification on Multi-Script Handwritten Using Optimum Features

    Recognizing the writer of a text that has been handwritten is a very intriguing research problem in the field of document analysis and recognition. This study tables an automatic way of recognizing the writer from handwritten samples. Even though much has been done in previous researches that have presented other various methods, it is still clear that the field has a room for improvement. This particular method uses Optimum Features based writer characterization. Here, each of the samples written is grouped according to their set of features that are acquired from a computed codebook. This proposed codebook is different from the others which segment the samples into graphemes by fragmenting a certain part of the writing known as ending strokes. The proposed technique is employed to a locate and extract the handwriting fragments from ending zone and then grouped the similar fragments to generate a new cluster known as ending cluster. The cluster that comes in handy in the process of coming up with the ending codebook through picking out the center of the same fragment group. The process is finalized by evaluating the proposed method on four datasets of the various languages. This method being proposed had an impressive 97.12% identification rate which is rates the best result on the ICFHR dataset

    An Online Content Based Email Attachments Retrieval System

    E-mail is one of the most popular programs used by most people today. As a result of the continuous daily use, thousands of messages are accumulated in the electronic box of most individuals, which make it difficult for them after a period of time to retrieve the attachments of these messages. Most Email providers constantly improved their search technology, but till now there is something could not be done; i.e., searching inside attachments. Some email providers like Gmail has added searching words inside attachments for some file types (.pdf files, .doc documents, .ppt presentations) but for image files this feature not supported till now. However, E-mail providers and even modern researchers have not focused on retrieving the image attachments in the E- mail box. The paper was aimed to introduce a novel idea of using Content based Image Retrieval (CBIR) in E-mail application to retrieve images from email attachments based on entire contents. The work main phases are: feature extraction based on color features and connect to Email server to read Emails, the second phase is retrieving similar image attachments. The tests carried on email inbox contain 100 messages with 500 image attachments and gave good precision and recall rates When the threshold value is less than or equal to 0.4

    Knowledge, Attitude and Practice toward Breast Cancer among Kurdish Women in Sulaimani Governorate/ Iraq

    Breast cancer is a devastating affliction, the frequency of which is gradually increasing all over the world. Cancer may be cured if properly intervened at the right time. The correct treatment, aided by professionals and the right technology can provide critical life support to breast cancer patients. This study was conducted to assessment knowledge, attitude and practice of breast cancer among Kurdish females visited Maternity Teaching Hospital in Sulaimani. A face-to-face interview through a question¬naire to assessment of knowledge and practices toward breast cancer of 500 non-breast cancer women visited Maternity Teaching Hospital was done. Data were computerized and analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS, version 22). P-value of < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant. Out of 500 participants in the current study on knowledge and practices toward breast cancer among non-breast cancer women, consequently were 227 (45.4%) and 201 (40.2%) practiced breast self-examination(BSE) and clinical breast examination respectively. In this study the participants having no symptoms and lack of knowledge about how to do BSE where regarded as the barriers of not practicing BSE (44.7%, 55.3%) respectively. The most common reason for not doing clinical breast examination (CBE) is fear of the outcome and no sign & symptom of breast cancer (28.8%, 61.9%) respectively. The high education level showed significantly more knowledge of breast self-examination and mammography than Illiterate women P? 0.001 and P? 0.03 respectively. On the other hand, the high education level women showed significantly more practice of breast self-examination P? 0.001. In conclusion, the present study found the facts to the inadequate knowledge of female about breast cancer and recognized the negative influence of low knowledge on the practice of BSE, CBE and mammography and the breast cancer incidence. Therefore, more determinations are needed to develop a positive attitude toward BSE, CBE and mammography screening and practice in Sulaimani

    Evaluation of Data Mining Features, Features Taxonomies and their Applications

    The World Wide Web has brought an enormous improvement in the lives of people, during the last couple of decades. E-commerce is a new area arisen during this evolutionary period and has changed the traditional trading approaches for selling products and services. It uses different techniques to discover a market trend and analyze the competitor’s activities by exploiting reviews’ information. On the other hand, potential customers, also, use the online opinion to make their purchase decision. Opinion mining and sentiment analysis are the most critical and fundamental domains of data mining which can be useful for variety its sub-domains such as opinion summarization, recommendation system and opinion spam detection.  Opinion mining and all its sub-branches can be performed efficiently when there is a comprehensive understanding of the most effective features applied in those domains. To achieve the best results, we need to use the most proper set of features for different case studies in order to classification or clustering. To the best of our knowledge, there is no extensive study and taxonomy of variety range of features and their applications in opinion mining. In this paper, we do comprehensive investigation on various types of features exploited in variety sub-branches of opinion mining domain. We present the most frequent features’ sets including structural, linguistic and relation-based features as a complete reference for further opinion mining research. The results proved that using multiple types of features improve the accuracy of opinion mining applications

    Design and Implementation an e-Hospital System at Kurdistan

    The utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have developed quickly. Traditional Healthcare (TH) which designates paper-predicated system is expeditious giving way to e-health system in most developed countries. Virtually all hospitals in the Kurdistan Region (KR) are utilizing TH. This paper deals with designing and implementing a web based electronic hospital system (WBEHS) in Shorsh General Hospital (SGH) in Slemani city. The system solves traditional style quandaries by transmuting the traditional paper-based healthcare system into a fully electronic system containing multi modules such as (Physician, X-Ray, Pharmacy, Laboratories, Ultrasound). The staff of SGH participated in the implementation and obtaining the results which have been evaluated by utilizing System Usability Scale (SUS). The overall evaluation score of the questionnaire was (79. 459%) which can be considered as a good result

    Effect of reinforcement material on impact properties of epoxy

    Impact characteristics of Epoxy matrix composites is investigated by impact machine. Four different types of reinforcement are used in the experimental works: type one: 1.9wt% steel fiber, 1.9wt% carbon fiber,1.9 wt% carbon nanotube, 1.9 wt% woven carbon fiber.This work shows that reinforcing epoxy with (1.9 wt% of woven carbon fiber) improves the impact properties where energy, force and deformation values of impact test for this composite were 18.4J, 3580.59 N and 18 mm respectively while for epoxy were 2.927 J, 921.849 N and 18.413 mm respectively

    Effect of Gyttja and Nitrogen Applications on Growth and Flowering of Snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus L.) Plant in the Two Soils Depth

    Plant morphological attribute has been reported to be increased through the application of organic material (Gyttja) to the soil. Snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus L.) was studied under plastic house conditions to determine the effect of two different soil depth-SH (0-20 cm and 20- 40 cm), four different gyttja doses-GD (0, 1, 2, and 3%), and three different nitrogen doses-ND (0, 140, and 280 mg kg-1) on some of the plant’s morphological characters;  Plant Height (PH), Fresh Weight Per Plant (FWP), Number of Leaves Per Plant(NLP), Stem Diameter(SD), Number of Branches Per Plant (NBP), Number of  Flower Per Spikes (NFPS) and  Flower Spike Length (FSL). The results showed that gyttja application at doses of 3%, significantly increased PH, SD, NBP, NFPS, and FSL, while FWP increased only at 2% gyttja application dose and decreased at the 3% dose.  The application of 280 mg kg-1 of nitrogen significantly increased (PH, FWP, NLP, NBP, NFPS and FSL). All parameters increased at (0-20 cm) soil depth, and the GD x SH x ND interaction had a significant effect on (SD, NLP, NFPS and FSL). These results suggest that adding of gyttja with nitrogen fertilizer to the calcareous and infertile soil will enhance the morphological attributes of plants
