Assessment of documentation on current patient’s medical records at Accident and Emergency Hospital of Sulaimani-Iraq
The patient record is an essential patient data were the nursing documentation part is fundamental. .Competent nursing care is based on correct and complete records, and keeping record is an essential skill that needs to be developed by each and every health staff. The present study was conducted in order to assess the documentation on current medical patient’s records in the Accident and Emergency Hospital/Sulaimani city. A quantitative descriptive design. Research was accomplished, based on retrospective data made available by the Accident and Emergency Hospital. Non-probability (purposive sample) of 201 patient files were selected from 1,194 patient files during 6 months between Jun to December 2016.The present study showed that the face sheet was completely recorded about %95 which means satisfactory, other items which were recorded by physician such as chief complaint and history of present illness, radiology, laboratory, medication intervention report, consent forms, physical examination, and consultant report were unsatisfactorily recorded. Last items which were recorded by the nurse who working in Accident and Emergency Hospital medication and administration record and a graphic sheet of vital signs were unsatisfactorily recorded. Deficiency in documentation system and most of the provided medical and nursing care remains undocumented given numerous deficiencies in the documentation system. It is recommended the components of the nursing record tool can be utilized once a paperless system is implemented as planned in the hospital
Effects of Additive Materials on Indirect Tensile Strength and Moisture Sensitivity of Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP)
Using reclaimed asphalt pavement with additives as part of new road construction has economic and environmental advantages. As an attempt to preserve aggregate resources and save money, and knowing the effects of the selected additive materials, this study was done in Sulaimani City. The samples of the RAP were selected from the Sulaimani municipality stockpiles. The ignition and centrifuge testing machines were used to separate the aggregate and binder of the RAP. Based on the standard deviation of the obtained asphalt content, the blend was decided to be 40% RAP and 60% new material. The aggregate tests were conducted to evaluate the characteristics of the PAR aggregate. The performance grade test was done for the reclaimed asphalt binder. Three types of additives, which were Styrene Butadiene-Styrene (SBS), Crumb Rubber (CR), and Polypropylene (PP), mixed with the reclaimed asphalt binder with three different percentages of the binder which were 3%, 5%, and 7%. Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS) test was performed to the conditioned and unconditioned mixtures. To evaluate the effects of additives on the moisture sensitivity of the reclaimed mixtures, ITS Ratios were obtained. Most of the percentages of additives decreased the ITS of the conditioned and unconditioned samples. The only percentage of the additive material increased the ITS was 5% of PP in conditioned case. However, additives did not benefit the ITS, they benefited the ITSR greatly. The best obtained ITSR for each additive material was 7% SBS, 3% CR, and 5% PP that had 99.71%, 97.1%, and 90.7%, respectively
Antibacterial Effect of Fixed and Volatile Oils against Gram-positive and Gram-negative Bacteria
Antibiotic resistance phenomena among pathogenic bacteria considered as a major health problem ?and associated with increased mortality or long-term hospitalization, which lead to open a new era by using ?plant and herbal extracts as an alternative source of various chemotherapeutic drugs, also to increase antibiotic efficiency by combining with plant extract for obtaining a powerful and broad ?spectrum action. The current investigation aims to investigate antibacterial actions of fixed oils of (Olea europaea L., ?Ricinus communis L. and Linum usitatissimum) and volatile oil of (Nigella sativa, Curcuma longa L and ?Zingiber officinale) against both Staphylococcus aureus strain (6734151) and Escherichia coli ?strain (5344572). This study conducted on antibacterial effect of six ?different extracted oils from medical herbs. The findings revealed that the oil extracts have different ?antibacterial activities with efficacy. Bacterial inhibition zone was ?detected by using ?disk diffusion method. Furthermore, volatile oil of N. sativa ?showed a great inhibitory action ?against ?resistant S. aureus, which was (27.7± 1.2 mm). ?The antimicrobial effects of other fixed and volatile oils ?against S. aureu, the inhibition zone was (10 ± 1.0 mm) for (Zingiber officinale), ? (9 ± 1.0 mm) for Ricinus communis L., (7.7 ???± 0.6 mm) for Olea europea L., (7.3 ± 0.6 mm) for Linum usitatissimum and for Curcuma ?longa L. was (6.7 ± 0.6mm). Moreover, antimicrobial effect of N. sativa against ? E. coli was more ??active in comparison with other oils, while other oils showed a slight antibacterial effect?. In conclusion, volatile oil of N. sativa reveals great antibacterial activities in comparison with other extracted oils.
 
Measurement the Physiological Properties of Water Pipe Smokers in Shekhan Distract
Smoking is one of the old habits used by humans before 400 years ago, where this custom was exclusively used in males with the development of time, tools, ingredients and flavors that used in hookah the women also started smoking, which led to an increase in the prevalence of use in many countries of the world Smoking is one of the reasons that lead to an increase in the percentage incidence of lung cancer, chronic lung disease ,mouth disease ,teeth deformation and gingivitis. The aim of study to determine physiological status before, during and after smoking water pipe. To knowledge awareness of people of harmful smoking water pipe by interview with them and explain the effect and dangerous of water-pipe smoking on their health. Sample had taken from 200 peoples, 100 of them are water pipe smoker, and other 100 from non-smoker. Sample had been taken through blood collection from 100 who are water pipe smoker and 100 who not smoke, and this include the following physiological test: Heart Rate, Blood Pressure, and Respiratory Flow Rate, in addition with laboratory hematological test Hemoglobin. The results showed an increase in the rate of (Blood pressure, Inspiratory Flow Rate, Heart rate, Hemoglobin) and rates higher after smoking as follow for Blood Pressure after smoking systolic was141.9±6.021 and diastolic 91.75 ±4.459 While the inspiratory flow rate reading after smoking 963.5 ±96.624, the heart rate reading after smoking was 83.27 ±7.84 while the hemoglobin the reading was 15.68 ±0.87 as recorded after finishing smoking . Water-pipe smoking has direct effect on Blood Pressure, Heart Rate and Inspiratory Flow Rate and water pipe smoking has have indirect effect on hemoglobin in smoker
Effect of Indoleacetic Acid and Zinc Sulphate Application on Growth and Some Physiological Parameters of Cowpea (Vigna sinensis Savi) Plants
This study was conducted in Koya city, Iraq on cowpea (Vigna sinensis Savi) plants California black eye variety by factorial experiment including the effects of foliar spraying of Zinc Sulphate ZnSO4.7H2O (ZS) or the plant growth regulator Indoleacetic Acid C10H9NO2 (IAA). Analysis of data revealed that ZS and IAA application affects significantly on the studied traits. 100 ppm of IAA increased significantly the leaves content of each of chlorophylls a, b, and total, although it decreased the content of total carotenoids. The results showed that the leaf area significantly increased by increasing the amount of ZS to 2.0 g/L compare with other treatments except 1.0 g/L ZS application. Foliar application of IAA increased significantly the dry matter percent of shoots and roots as well as the number of nodules per plant. It has been found that leaves content of zinc is related to the concentration of ZS applied significantly compared to the control and IAA treatments, however, the application of IAA caused to decrease K and Zn contents in leaf of the plants compared to other treatments. Finally, based on the results the best ratio of IAA for increased stomata number on the abaxial and adaxial leaves surfaces was 75 ppm
Correlation of Anti-Müllerian Hormone with Polycystic Ovarian Disease and its Relation with Age
Polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD) is a common endocrine disorder of reproductive-aged women. Serum Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) increases in PCOD women due to increased follicle numbers. Objectives: The aim was to evaluate ovarian reserve by measuring level of AMH among PCOD women. Prospective cohort study was performed on 62 ladies who aged 25 to 40 years and diagnosed by Rotterdam criteria as PCOD in Sulaimani Maternity Teaching Hospital/Outpatient Gynecological Clinic during May 2018 to May 2019. Consents were obtained from patients for their inclusion. Inclusion criteria were age of 25-40 years and diagnosis of PCOD. The patients’ ages, body mass index (BMI) and level of AMH were recorded. Sample size estimation was performed by "GPower 3.1" and "IBM SPSS Statistics version 25" was used for analysis of data. P-value of (?0.05) was considered significant. The mean±SD (standard deviation) of age of women were 31.7±5 years. The majority of participants were housewives from inside of Sulaimani City and most of them were diagnosed to have PCOD through clinical features and results of ultrasonography. The mean±SD of BMI and AMH were 26.2±2.8 kg/m2 (ranged from 21.3 to 33.2 kg/m2) and 4.76±3.51 ng/ml (ranged from 0.1-14.6 ng/ml) respectively. There was significant association between age of the participants and AMH and the association of BMI and AMH was not significant. The level of AMH is decreased with aging and it is higher among PCOD women due to increased follicle numbers. The level of AMH was not associated with BMI
Relevant SMS Spam Feature Selection Using Wrapper Approach and XGBoost Algorithm
In recent years with the widely usage of mobile devices, the problem of SMS Spam increased dramatically. Receiving those undesired messages continuously can cause frustration to users. And sometimes it can be harmful, by sending SMS messages containing fake web pages in order to steal users’ confidential information. Besides spasm number of hazardous actions, there is a limited number of spam filtering software. According to this paper, XGBoost algorithm used for handling SMS spam detection problem. Number of structural features was collected from previous studies. 15 structural features were extracted from Tiago’s dataset, which is the most frequently used dataset by researchers. For selecting the optimal relevant features, two different types of wrapper feature selection algorithms were used in order to reduce and select best relevant features. The accuracy and performance obtained by the selected features via sequential backward selection method was better comparing to sequential forward selection method. The extracted nine optimal features can be a good representation of a spam SMS message. Additionally, the classification accuracy obtained by the proposed method using nine optimal features with XGBoost algorithm is 98.64 using 10-fold cross validation
Design of Adaptive Planar Microstrip Patch Array Operating at 28 GHz for 5G Smart Mobile System
Smart antenna system has been studied extensively for the fifth generation of wireless communication systems, because it has made a system better performance of higher capacity and coverage as well as of power-saving. The present paper introduces a design of planar microstrip patch antenna array for a smart mobile system operating at 28 GHz. The present smart antenna has an adaptive radiation pattern that adjusts its main beam automatically to the desired direction by following the signal environment. This is based on the processing of an algorithm called the Least Mean Square (LMS) resulting in a change in the magnitude and phase of the feeding current for each element in the antenna array. From the obtained results, the main beam can be steered 180 degrees in the phi (azimuth) plane at a constant theta (elevation) angle. The planar antenna array was designed and simulated using CST Microwave Studio and MATLAB software that is used to find the required exciting current for each element. It is found that the antenna bandwidth is greater than 1 GHz while its gain is about 21 dB
Relation of Left Ventricular Diastolic Dysfunction to Serum Ferritin in Thalassemia Major
A prospective study was conducted on 60 thalassemia major patients (33 males and 27 females ) in whom the LV function and its parameters where assessed by echocardiography in relation to serum ferritin during the period from 2nd October 2007 to 2nd February 2008, in Sulaimani pediatric teaching hospital. Patient and method: The age ranges of patients were ranged between 3 – 18 years old. The diastolic function of LV was assessed by (M-mode, D-mode, and pulse dopplar study of mitral and pulmonary vein) done. Among 60 patients seen, 25% shows normal LV diastolic function, the rest is 13% relaxation dysfunction, 27% shows Psuedonormal diastolic dysfunction and 35% shows restrictive pattern of LV diastolic dysfunction. Mean serum ferritin in normal and abnormal diastolic LV dysfunction was not so different. In addition nearly all LV parameters as ( LVEDD , LVESD , LA diameter , aortic root diameter , IVC , E ,A ,E/A ratio , A-E time , DT time , S,D,R waves ) where non significantly related to serum ferritin level , this means that P value is less than 0.05 . This means that the level of serum ferritin has no relation with the above parameters in which 75% of those parameters were already abnormal in comparison to the age of the child. Another finding shows that 25% of normal diastolic function is seen in serum levels above 1500 ng/l, in addition, 50% of diastolic dysfunction will associate serum ferritin of less than 500ng/l . P value is more than 0,05 this means that its non-significant. In conclusion, there is a non-significant correlation between serum ferritin and LV diastolic function, so serum ferritin is not a dependant indicator for myocardial iron deposition
Upper blepharoplasty: A comparative study between wound closure strips and subcuticular closure
The objective is to compare the results of patients having their upper blepharoplasty incision closed by subcuticular suturing versus the usage of wound closure strips (Omnistrips®). Also evaluating the time required for incision closure, any complication, and the aesthetic outcome of each technique. In this study a total of 54 upper blepharoplasty had been performed on 27 patients. Retrospective study done on 16 patients, whom incision closure done by continuous subcuticular non-absorbable suture using 6-0 polypropylene (prolene), and another 11 patients prospectively studied for using omnistrips for their blepharoplasty incision closure. The intraoperative time which was required to finish the closure was one of the most important parameter of the study. The other parameters were the incidence of milia occurrence, presence of pain postoperatively at time of stitch and omnistrips removal, infection rate and suture acceptance. The result of this study indicated that mean time of closure was 12.36 minutes with usage of steristrips and (16.88) minutes with subcuticular suturing (P<0.01). The incidence of milia was significantly reduced by using the omnistrips (P 0.004), and there was no pain encountered at time of omnistrips removal in all patients, while all other patients whom subcuticular suturing done for them complained of pain at the time of stitch removal. The study showed no infection associated with closure of the incision in either groups. In conclusion the closure of the incision in upper lid blepharoplasty using omnistrips is a safe, effective, faster, painless and with less complication rate than that using subcuticular suturing technique
