Analysis of the heat gain and cooling demand of a science building and normalisation of actual and calculated data
Šildymui ir vėsinimui sunaudojama beveik 50 % visos galutinės ES energijos, iš kurių 80 % sunaudojama pastatuose reikalingam patalpų mikroklimatui užtikrinti. Šiame straipsnyje analizuojami mokslo paskirties pastato šilumos pritėkiai ir jų įtaka pastato vėsinimo poreikiui, siekiant integruoti į pastato fasadą saulės elementus. Tyrimas atliekamas naudojantis dinaminio energinio modeliavimo programa IDA ICE. Tiriamojo pastato energinis modelis sukurtas remiantis realaus mokslo paskirties pastato projektine dokumentacija bei faktiniais šilumos ir elektros apskaitos duomenimis. Modelio rezultatai lyginami su faktiniais duomenimis. Tyrimo metu nustatyta, jog nesąryšis tarp normalizuotų sąnaudų ir apskaičiuotų poreikių yra 4 %.Heating and cooling account for almost 50% of the EU’s total final energy consumption, 80% of which is used to provide the indoor climate needed for the latter. This paper analyses the heat loads of a science building and their impact on the cooling demand of the building in order to integrate solar cells into the façade of the building. The study is carried out using the dynamic energy modelling software IDA ICE. The energy model of the investigated building is based on the design documentation of a real science building and on actual heat and electricity metering data. The model results are compared with the actual data. The study found a discrepancy of 4% between the normalised costs and the calculated demand.Taip / Ye
Calcium electroporation causes ATP depletion in cells and is effective both in microsecond and nanosecond pulse range as a modality of electrochemotherapy
Calcium electroporation is a modality of electrochemotherapy (ECT), which is based on intracellular electric field-mediated delivery of cytotoxic doses of calcium into the cells resulting in rapid cell death. In this work, we have developed a CHO-K1 luminescent cell line, which allowed the estimation of cell membrane permeabilization, ATP depletion and cytotoxicity evaluation without the use of additional markers and methodologies. We have shown the high efficiency of nanosecond pulses compressed into a MHz burst for application in calcium ECT treatments. The 5 kV/cm and 10 kV/cm nanosecond (100 and 600 ns) pulses were delivered in bursts of 10, 50 and 100 pulses (a total of 12 parametric protocols) and then compared to standard microsecond range sequences (100 µs × 8) of 0.4–1.4 kV/cm. The effects of calcium-free, 2 mM and 5 mM calcium electroporation treatments were characterized. It was shown that reversible electroporation is accompanied by ATP depletion associated with membrane damage, while during calcium ECT the ATP depletion is several-fold higher, which results in cell death. Finally, efficacy-wise equivalent pulse parameters from nanosecond and microsecond ranges were established, which can be used for calcium nano-ECT as a better alternative to ESOPE (European Standard Operating Procedures on Electrochemotherapy) protocols.vol. 15
Overview of the evolution of agricultural and rural policy in EU from 2004 to 2040
The fourth period of the European Union (EU) Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) is currently being implemented since Lithuania’s accession to the EU. All these periods have features, objectives, priorities that are unique to themselves, and their formation, maintenance and modification took place each time for different reasons, the analysis of which is significant, in order to identify the problematic places in the evolution of the EU’s agricultural and rural development policy. The targeted and effective implementation of the CAP depends on proper analysis, preparedness, planning, engagement and a vision and foresight for the future. The article aims to identify the reasons for the changes that influenced the strategic planning of the CAP, why the objectives of the programming periods were not achieved, what planning challenges were faced, how much and how member states were involved in the preparation and planning of programming periods.Taip / Yes
Impact of green economy efficiency on sustainable development: evidence from China
Increasing number of nations are moving to a green economy as a vital avenue to accomplish the objective of sustainable development, and China has made a mark among those countries. This study evaluated green economy efficiency (GEE) using the super slack-based measure (Super-SBM) model and empirically investigated the relationship between GEE and sustainable development (SD) using the mediation effect econometric model. The examination of this article led to the following results: (1) As China’s growth method was completing the transition of old and new drivers, its GEE and SD were both demonstrating a fluctuating increasing trend. (2) The influence of GEE on SD was nonlinear and exhibited an inverted U-shape, with moderate GEE encouraging SD and excessive GEE limiting SD. (3) The industrial structure upgrading (ISU) indicator had a substantial mediating role in the process of GEE influencing SD, where an increase in GEE improved ISU, which in turn promoted SD. Therefore, for improved SD, we need to comprehend the scale not to mindlessly pursue GEE, and should stress the function of ISU. Our results give vital insight for understanding the link between GEE and SD.Taip / Yes
Fintech development in the European Union: establishing supportive factors
The author of the presented article aims at discovering main supporting factors, essential for developing fintech in the context of social, economic and technological progress; to develop and suggest methodology necessary to assess the process of the development according to the processes of internationalisation. The theoretical and systematic analysis of related concepts dedicated for the fintech development is analysed here. Theoretical assumption to use financial freedom index for the measurement of country’s readiness for fintech development in the context of the European Union is discussed and examined here, too. The author’s suggestion to investigate the processes of fintech development on industrial, business, national and international levels is raised. As a result, the author determines main factors supporting the fintech development on every level of the process. Empirical verification of the suggestion, based on cluster analysis, correlation analysis and dispersion calculations, justifies the application of the methodology in an example of the EU countries.Taip / Yes
Organisational resilience conceptual model: A systems thinking approach
With the challenges of the modern age, such as technological advancements (artificial intelligence, data analytics), complexity, and pandemics (COVID-19), resilient organisations must find better ways of surviving and ensuring sustainability. A gap exists in the literature on developing an organisational resilience framework and dimensions measurement model for the service industry aligned to digital transformation drivers. This paper identified organisational resilience components and dimensions to develop a conceptual Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) as a first step to establishing an organisational resilience framework. In this CLD, digital transformation drives environmental disruption that influences an organisation’s stability and resilience. This is influenced by dynamic internal organisational and external environmental changes, amplified by technology, innovation, and customer needs and expectations. With these causal relationships, this initial model may be helpful in practice to assist organisations in making well-informed decisions about their resilience strategy and, therefore, the organisation’s sustainability into the future.Graduate School of Technology Management (University of Pretoria)Taip / Yes

Physical Analysis of Lateral-BTBT Induced GIDL Current in GaN-Based FinFET Devices
In this paper, we have analyzed the behavior of the Lateral-BTBT component of gate-induced drain leakage (GIDL) current on various configurations of GaN FinFET with High-k oxide which are Bulk-GaN FinFET, JAM-GaN FinFET and JL-GaN FinFET. It also studied how, in the OFF state (VGS=0), Lateral-BTBT causes parasitic BJT to form for different configurations. It was also observed that parasitic BJT phenomena are significant only in JAM-GaN FinFET and Bulk- GaN FinFET. JL-GaN FinFET offers minimum leakage current and maximum Ion/Ioff ratio which is ∼6.5 × 109. In addition, the effect of variation in source and drain doping on Bulk-GaN FinFET and JAM-GaN FinFET and their energy band profile are also studied.Advanced Emerging Device LabDepartment of ECEMalaviya National Institute of TechnologyTaip / Ye
Selection of technology for the reconstruction of masonry walls of heritage buildings
Cultural heritage is a characteristic feature of every country that tells about the past. A country seeking to preserve its history must respect, protect and restore cultural heritage objects: buildings, monuments, historical places and all things that are historically valuable. When it comes to buildings as cultural heritage objects, a problem is usually relevant: how to restore them without losing their authenticity. In order for valuable building structures not to lose value during their restoration, materiality, condition and rehabilitation technique are determined before work is carried out. This article deals with the problems of the reconstruction of brick structures of cultural heritage buildings. The authors analyze the technologies for strengthening and restoring brick walls. A decision support system (DSS) for evaluating alternative reconstruction technologies for damaged building structures is being established. The indicators for multi-criteria assessment of reconstruction technologies are determined, their importance calculated and the multi-criteria TOPSIS method selected and described. Damages to brick walls in a particular building are described and three alternative technologies are determined for their restoration. The assessment by the decision-support system shows that in a particular case the most rational technology is the “bricking up of missing wall fragments”. Developed DSS is a unique and useful tool that can be used by professionals selecting rehabilitation techniques for vulnerable building structures
