Research on additional domestic wastewater treatment using an iron shavings filler
Straipsnyje nagrinėjami papildomo buitinių nuotekų valymo metodai, naudojant geležies drožlių užpildą
fosforui šalinti. Siekiant sumažinti eutrofikacijos poveikį, buvo tiriamas geležies apdirbimo atliekų efektyvumas fosforo
adsorbcijai. Eksperimentai parodė, kad geležies drožlių užpildas gali pasiekti iki 95,7 % fosforo šalinimo efektyvumą,
o regeneracijos metu naudojant natrio hidroksidą ir sieros rūgštį adsorbcijos geba gali būti atkurta. Tyrimo rezultatai
rodo, kad šis metodas gali būti efektyvi ir tvari priemonė nuotekoms valyti, mažinant cheminio nusodinimo poreikį ir
mažinant aplinkos taršą.The article examines additional domestic wastewater
treatment methods using an iron shavings filler for
phosphorus removal. To reduce the impact of eutrophication,
the effectiveness of iron processing waste in phosphorus adsorption
was investigated. Experiments showed that the iron
shavings filler could achieve up to 95.7% phosphorus removal
efficiency, and its adsorption capacity could be restored through
regeneration using sodium hydroxide and sulfuric acid.
The study results indicate that this method can be an effective
and sustainable solution for wastewater treatment, reducing
the need for chemical precipitation and minimizing environmental
pollution.Taip / Ye

Barriers prohibiting to export: methods to apply in practice
This article concentrates on export barriers as one of important companies’ internationalization process. This
article aims to show the process of adaption of some of export barriers international theoretical findings to Latvia’s situation
in the frame of the Latvian export to Africa. As African economies grow, this trade direction becomes very popular
amongst entrepreneurs all over the world and may serve as good new market to Latvia exporters. The methodology
of barrier’s adaption had been divided into several stages with application of “locus of barrier’s overcoming difficulty”
in the end. The locus separates more important and difficult barriers from less ones for Latvian entrepreneurs. Four
export barrier groups were distilled: barriers related to difficulties with bank transfers from overseas markets, barriers
referred to production environment in Latvia, barriers related to lack of knowledge about how to work on African market
and barriers referred to export logistics procedures and arranging shipment. In the result, specific scientific barrier’s
overcoming methods were received and their findings considered as fruit of the study.Recovery and Resilience Facility projectTaip / YesInternal and External Consolidation of the University of Latvia5.2.1.1.i.0/2/24/I/ CFLA/00

Consumers’ perceptions of corporate social responsibility: scale development, validation, and reliability testing
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) plays a crucial role in shaping contemporary business strategies, influencing
customer perceptions, enhancing brand reputation, and driving competitive advantage. This study addresses
the need for a reliable instrument to evaluate consumer perceptions of CSR initiatives. It focuses on four dimensions
of CSR: economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic responsibilities. The study developed and validated a research instrument
through a pilot study involving a focus group and 120 survey respondents. The instrument demonstrated
excellent internal consistency, with Cronbach’s alpha values ranging from 0.857 to 0.907 across the scales, underscoring
its reliability and accuracy. These values indicate that the scales are statistically robust and suitable for larger-scale
studies. Key findings reveal insights into consumer attitudes toward CSR initiatives across different responsibilities,
highlighting the relevance of ethical and philanthropic efforts in shaping perceptions. This study not only contributes
to the growing body of literature on CSR but also provides businesses with an evidence-based approach to understanding
consumer expectations and refining CSR strategies. The validated research instrument establishes a foundation for
future studies with larger and more diverse samples.Oleksandr Zakharov, a student of EKA University of Applied SciencesTaip / Ye
The 22nd International Workshop on Piezoelectric Materials and Applications (IWPMA 2025)
This workshop offers a valuable opportunity for scientists, engineers, and professionals from around the globe to exchange the latest developments in the field of piezoelectric materials and their applications. It serves as an excellent platform to meet colleagues, share knowledge, and establish new professional connections. The International Workshop on Piezoelectric Materials and Applications in Actuators (IWPMA) is a leading annual conference that has been bringing together researchers, engineers, and industry professionals since its inception. The workshop provides a platform for discussing the latest innovations in piezoelectric materials, actuator technologies, energy harvesting, and sensor systems. With its rich history of fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, IWPMA has become a key event for advancing research and applications in the field, inspiring new discoveries and global partnerships in piezoelectric technologies.Go Vilniu

Economic sanctions and their global spillover effects: a macroeconomic analysis
Economic sanctions have become an essential tool of international policy, employed to influence the behavior
of states without resorting to direct military intervention. However, their impact is not limited to the sanctioned
country alone – in many cases, partner states also experience significant economic disruptions. Although often presented
as a peaceful alternative to armed conflict, sanctions carry far-reaching economic consequences for both targeted
nations and the global economy. This paper examines the multifaceted effects of economic sanctions through the
lens of key case studies, including Russia. It explores how sanctions influence trade flows, currency stability, inflation,
foreign investment, and long-term economic development. Particular attention is given to the ways in which sanctions
destabilize financial systems and alter global supply chains. The analysis also considers unintended outcomes, such as
the expansion of informal markets and emerging humanitarian concerns. By comparing the economic consequences
across different cases and evaluating the international response, the paper offers a balanced perspective on the effectiveness
and costs of sanctions. The findings highlight the importance of a more strategic and measured application of
sanctions – one that balances political objectives with real-world economic impacts.Taip / Ye
