Driving forces of success for sustainable entrepreneurship: Ukraine’s experience

    No full text
The paper’s objective is to study the driving forces behind sustainable entrepreneurship success, considering the Ukrainian experience of digital innovations. The essence of sustainable entrepreneurship is considered. Innovative factors (digital competences) are highlighted among the driving forces of sustainable entrepreneurial success. The global ranking of the population’s digital life in 2022, and the digital skills of the adult population in Ukraine by areas of competence in 2019-2023 are analysed. The key trends in mastering the digital skills of adults are highlighted. The role of higher education in this process is indicated. Digital competence is a key component of human lifelong learning, approaches to its formation and development for successful sustainable entrepreneurship in the European economy are considered. The Concept of improving European education for sustainable entrepreneurship in the context of using the Ukrainian experience of digital innovations is developed and proposed.Taip / Yes

Populism and marginalized communities: how politicians in Slovakia abused poverty during election

    No full text
Based on a 2019 study carried out by the Government Commissioner for the Roma community, the Roma community in Slovakia makes up approximately 8% of population. Marginalized groups are often targets of exploitation by fraudsters and usurers from their own community not only in Slovakia. At the institutional level, majorities face prejudice based on their ethnicity. People in these excluded communities often live-in conditions reminiscent of the past century, facing restricted access to basic hygiene and education. The Roma population in Slovakia constitutes a great potential and can be a driving force for economic growth and the survival of companies, especially in the least developed regions – Prešov, Košice, Banská Bystrica. Their participation is important not only in the labour market, but also in public life. In 2023, elections took place, during which the former Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic took advantage of the situation in these communities, promising a reward of 500 EUR to anyone participating in the elections. The aim of our work is to investigate how this promise influenced electoral preferences in the given community and the impacts of such unethical political practices on poorest and one of the most vulnerable communities in the country.Taip / Yes

Reconfigurable Polygonal Planar Inductor with Bistable Snapping Mechanism

    No full text
A mechanically tunable planar single-turn inductor in air is proposed. The bistable flexible deflection of axially compressed wire segments is used for variation of the loop area of regular polygonal loop inductors. We present analytical expressions for the loop inductance and confirm the theoretical findings by magneto-quasi-static field simulation on exemplary polygonal circuits.Wolfgang Alversammer and Dr. Christoph Jager from R&D Department of Technical University of Applied Sciences RosenheimTaip / Ye

The impact of research and development initiatives on labor productivity in the tourism industry before COVID-19 pandemic

    No full text
The growth of sectors in the country’s economy is to some extent influenced by the ability to innovate. Tourism represents an industry with a low knowledge nature. However, tourism can potentially contribute to the effects of the innovation environment in which it exists. The paper aims to identify the relationship between investments in research and development and labour productivity in the tourism industry. The regression analysis in selected six countries of the European Union: Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Lithuania, Austria, Croatia, Norway, and non-EU country Great Britain fulfils the objective of the contribution. The years 2013–2020 were chosen as the reference period in the available data in this post. The economic growth of tourism is to a certain extent influenced by the innovative environment in which it is located. The results of our study show a clear dependence between the level of investment in research and development and labour productivity in the tourism industry in selected countries.Taip / YesISustainable renewal of spa tourism in Slovak Republic in the context of impacts of civilization crisesVEGA 1/0271/2

Šarminiu būdu aktyvuotų medžiagų kūrimas naudojant biomasės lakiuosius pelenus, fosfogipsą ir perdirbtus betono užpildus

Cement production is responsible for 9–11% of total CO2 emissions worldwide, so it is essential to develop low-energy materials, avoiding using Port-land cement. Using waste materials in developing new cement-free binders, such as alkali-activated materials (AAMs), is a promising method for creating novel building materials. This study aims to develop a cement-free AAM binder based on high-carbon biomass fly ash (BFA), calcined phosphogypsum (CPG), and the low-alkalinity activator Na2CO3/Na2SiO3. The created AAM binder was used to develop a lightweight AAM concrete containing recycled concrete aggregate (RCA). The dissertation consists of an introduction, three chapters, general conclusions, recommendations, lists of references and the author’s publications on the dissertation topic, and a summary in Lithuanian. The first chapter reviews the state-of-the-art investigations on AAM, especially the application of BFA and CPG in AAM technologies. The literature states that BFA can be used as an aluminosilicate precursor with NaOH/Na2SiO3 in geopolymerisation technology. CPG participates as a calcium source, creating new minerals in the AAM and significantly enhancing its early strength. The second chapter describes the characteristics of the raw materials used, the mix design, and the sample preparation for each part of the research. It also describes the techniques and methods that were tested to fully evaluate the effect of each parameter on the rheological properties, physical-mechanical properties and reaction products of AAM samples based on BFA, CPG, and RCA. The third chapter presents the results and analysis of the research. It determines the effect of the Na2CO3/Na2SiO3 ratio and temperature on the properties and reaction products of BFA-based AAM. Also, it investigates the influence of the CPG content and Na2CO3/Na2SiO3 ratio on the properties and reaction products of BFA-CPG-based AAM. Furthermore, it reveals the effect of the RCA content on the physical-mechanical properties of AAM concretes based on BFA, CPG, and RCA. The lightweight AAM concrete can be applied to non-structural components with low strength requirements. Five scientific papers were published on the dissertation topic: three in scientific journals included in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science database with an impact factor, and two in conference proceedings included in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science and Scopus databases. Eight reports, including the dissertation results, were presented at national and international scientific conferences.Taip / Ye

The actual predictive power of bankruptcy models in terms of time use

    No full text
The quality of bankruptcy models is habitually based on how well they can predict the financial health of a business a year in advance. However, corporate accounting data is publicly available usually with one year delay. So, the research question is not how accurate the prediction is one year in advance, but two years in advance. Therefore, an analysis of 7 models was performed to compare the change in their accuracy depending on time. The results showed a decline in prediction accuracy over time. The found total success rate of prediction is from 67.38% to 80.64%, which confirms that some of these models are also usable for two-year prediction of the financial health of the company.Taip / Yes

Development and implementation of the folk cruft e-commerce software system

    No full text
The work considers the creation of an effective e-shop for convenient and efficient e-trade in folk crafts. A study of the theoretical aspects of the development of an online store was carried out; analyzed software and technical solutions for building an e-store of folk crafts; developed and implemented an electronic store specializing in the sale of handicrafts using a technology stack, including Spring Boot for backend implementation, Angular and TypeScript for creating a user interface, and Java for business logic programming. The main objective of this innovation online store is to help traditional crafts by offering a digital platform where skilled artisans and producers can showcase and sell their unique and authentic products, which will help to rise to a new level of e-commerce management for folk crafts and make the business more sustainable and competitive.Taip / Yes
