Full text linkAls Anhang zu ihrer Preisrede im Zuge der ersten Verleihung des österreichischen Literatur( förder)preises Schreiben zwischen den Kulturen (1997) hat die aus Brčko geborene Alma Hadzibeganovic, ein eigenwilliges, ihr Schreibverständnis erläuterndes Alphabet vorgelegt. Unter dem Buchstaben ‚R‘ hat sie den rebellischen Charakter des Beitrages dieser Gruppe (damals) junger Autorinnen und Autoren mit Migrationshintergrund selbstbewusst sichtbar zu machen versucht. Ein Blick auf die literarische Produktion der letzten 20 Jahre wird diese These bzw. diese Selbstpositionierung vielleicht nicht als die zentrale Entwicklungsperspektive in der neueren österreichischen Gegenwartsliteratur ausweisen, aber zugleich doch als eine ernst zu nehmende und in vielfältiger Weise das Erscheinungsbild mitprägende. Der Beitrag geht der Frage nach, wo und wie sich migrationsgestütztes Schreiben positioniert, und in welcher Weise Querverbindungen zu einer spezifischenösterr. Tradition sprachkritisch-experimentellen Schreibens und Denkens anzutreffen sind, das perse national-sprachliche Begrenzungen unterläuft bzw. ironisch kommentiert.In the codicil to her prize speech on the occasion of the first award ceremony (1997) for Schreiben zwischen den Kulturen Alma Hadzibeganovic, born in the bosno-croatian crossborder city of Brčko, presented a quite idiosyncratic and at the same time explanatory alphabet. The letter ‚R’ hereby emphasized a specific rebellious character of most of her same aged authors coming from migration backgrounds. Looking back on twenty years of literary and cultural production we probably may assert that selfpositionings as expressed by Hadzibeganovic in the meantime have contributed to differentiate at one hand literary techniques of authors coming from other backgrounds and to establish at the other hand connexions and intersections with the specific Austrian tradition of critical, ironical and experimental approaches in writing and reflecting words and worlds

Full text linkThe aim of the article is to show the specific characteristics of the Galician legal language in the first half of the 19th century. The article analyses the 1835 will of Baron Herman de Brunicki. First, the pattern of the will, its structure and function are examined. No full textThis paper’s main goal is to present the outcome of a field study from 2015 among the companies representing the sector of modern services for business in the area of Lodz. The main interest of the study were the information on the foreign languages and languages for specific purposes being in use in the outsourcing sector on the local job market as well as the main areas of use of foreign languages. As a conclusion, the paper presents various examples of study and training exercises for the use of the German language in business communication.This paper’s main goal is to present the outcome of a field study from 2015 among the companies representing the sector of modern services for business in the area of Lodz. No full textThe periodical Roczniki Katolickie, published in the 1920s and 1930s, was part of an anti-modernist project created in European Catholic circles. The information about German literature, which can be found in the magazine, on the one hand, served as a means of reinforcing feelings of belonging to a borderless confessional community and, on the other hand, constituted an element of German-Polish cultural transfer. Analyzing its content helps determine the extent of influence of the forms and aesthetic and literary categories disseminated within the Catholic milieu as well as the transformations of the image of the stereotypical German that was dominant in Poland at that time.The periodical Roczniki Katolickie, published in the 1920s and 1930s, was part of an anti-modernist project created in European Catholic circles. Full text linkPress horoscopes are short informative and persuasive texts addressed to a seemingly individual reader, who skims through the text in order to match the content and intention of press horoscopes to his or her own situation. The article deals with the selected linguistic means used in German press horoscopes to draw the reader’s attention to certain text elements. The analysed data consists of extracts from press horoscopes in German weekly magazines for women (Bild der Frau, Freundin). Full text linkDer Beitrag untersucht Paulus Hochgatterers 2017 erschienene Erzählung Der Tag, an dem mein Großvater ein Held war als spezifisch literarischen Beitrag zur gegenwärtigen österreichischen Erinnerungskultur bzgl. der nationalsozialistischen Verbrechen. Die besondere Herangehensweise des Textes an das in der österreichischen Literatur spätestens seit den 1980er Jahren notorische Thema wird dabei an der räumlichen Situierung des Geschehens im Hinterland, der zeitlichen Situierung im „Ausnahmezustand“ (G. Agamben) der letzten Kriegswochen, vor allem aber in dem erzählerischen Entwurf von Alternativszenarien festgemacht.The article examines Paulus Hochgatterers story Der Tag, an dem mein Großvater ein Held war (2017) as specific literary contribution to contemporary Austrian memory culture, especially concerning the remembrance of the crimes of national socialism. The text’s particular approach to the subject, which is notorious in Austria at least since the 1980s, can be seen in the topographical positioning of the events in the backup area, their temporal positioning in the “state of exception” (G. Agamben) of the last weeks of WW II and especially in the narrative construction of alternative scenarios
Zum Problem der Selbst- und Fremdpositionierung in Vladimir Vertlibs Roman „Viktor hilft”
Full text linkMit dem Roman Viktor hilft (2018) bestätigt Vladimir Vertlib mehrfach seine literarische Verortung: sein Meta-Narrativ bleibt nach wie vor eine kulturanthropologisch fokussierte Migrations-erfahrung. Diese impliziert eine punktuelle Erfahrung der Zeitgenossenschaft und der Zeugenschaft und in eben diesem Zusammenhang wird untersucht, wie sich die Erzählinstanz im Text selbst- und fremdpositioniert, wozu das sozio-linguistische Konzept der Positionierung von Wendy Hollowey wichtige Impulse liefert (Hollowey 1984). Bei der Annahme des autobiographischen Ansatzes des Romans wird am Beispiel von Viktor Levin als Alter Ego Vertlibs die Positionierung eines hybriden Subjekts in Literatur und Leben eruiert, gemäß der These: Aufgrund der Selbst- und Fremdpositionierung der Erzählinstanz im Roman Viktor hilft ist Vladimir Vertlib als Autor mit einem „hybriden- kulturellen Hintergrund“ (Previsič 2012: 50) und damit als ein exophoner Autor im „Dritten Raum“ (Bhabha 1994/2000) zu verorten.By his novel Viktor hilft (2018), Vladimir Vertlib definitely confirms his place in literature: his meta-narrative invariably constitutes the experience of migration perceived in cultural and anthropological way. It implies a specific, individual experience of the presence and giving the testimony. In this context, it is essential to examine, making use of Wendy Hollowey’s socio-linguistic concept of positioning (Hollowey 1984), how the narrator presents himself and the others in the text. Assuming that the book has some autobiographical features, the Viktor Levin’s character is being analysed as Viktor Vertlib’s alter ego in order to examine how the hybrid like subject places himself and the others in the literature and life. The analysis of Viktor hilft is carried out as a narrator’s selfpresentation and presentation of other characters, which allows you to confirm the thesis that the place of Vladimir Vertlib as a writer with “hybrid culture experience” (Previsič 2012: 50) and as an exophonic writer is the “Third Space” (Bhabha 1994/2000)

No full textBernard Bolzano (1781-1848) is well-known to large circles as a logician and mathematician. In the above article the main point of interest became its social ethics whose practical application was perceived by Bolzano in quieting conflicts and feuds which then troubled the Habsburg monarchy. The ethics of Bolzano is in opposition to the moral law of Kant, rejects his subjectivity. In practice it means submission of man and his behaviour to verification by the moral law to which in tum even God is submitted. Surrender was the only way of solving conflicts of Czechs and Germans Irving together in Germany to which "Speeches for elevation" (Erbauungsreden) were devoted and which were delivered to the students in Prague. It woke up the dormant intellectual elites, however, it did not overcome the supremacy of romantic ideas of Friedrich Schlegel which triumphed in the Austrian monarchy of the middle of the 19th century
