No full textThe integration of healthcare and social welfare services has been seen as a solution to many problems in the service system both in Finland and globally. Integration is sought to achieve both cost efficiency and to meet the service needs of clients requiring multiprofessional cooperation. This edited volume examines the transformation of healthcare and social welfare services specifically from the perspective of social work.
The research reported in the book dates to the pre-implementation phase of the healthcare and social welfare reform, which prepared for the transition of healthcare and social welfare services to be organized by the new wellbeing services counties. In this preparation, integration, multiprofessional work, and responding to complex client situations were key challenges. The book's perspective on these challenges is revealed through the grassroots activities of healthcare and social welfare professionals and the encounters between clients and professionals. This distinguishes the book from previous research on the ongoing service integration, which has focused more on structural and administrative issues.
The book serves the development work of the healthcare and social welfare service reform, acts as study material in the education of healthcare and social welfare fields, and brings new perspectives on healthcare and social welfare integration, multidisciplinary cooperation, and helping people in complex life situations.Sosiaali- ja terveyspalveluiden integraatio on nähty vastauksena moniin palvelujärjestelmän ongelmiin sekä Suomessa että muualla maailmassa. Integraatiosta haetaan ratkaisuja niin kustannustehokkuuteen kuin monialaista yhteistyötä tarvitsevien asiakkaiden palvelutarpeisiin. Sosiaalityö ja sote-integraatio -teos tarkastelee sosiaali- ja terveyspalvelujen muutosta nimenomaisesti sosiaalityön näkökulmasta.
Teoksen taustalla oleva tutkimustyö ajoittuu sote-uudistuksen täytäntöönpanoa edeltävään vaiheeseen, jossa valmistauduttiin sote-palveluiden siirtymiseen hyvinvointialueiden järjestämiksi. Tässä valmistelussa integraatio, monialainen työskentely ja kompleksisiin asiakastilanteisiin vastaaminen olivat keskeisiä haasteita. Teoksen näkökulma näihin haasteisiin avautuu sote-ammattilaisten ruohonjuuritason toiminnan sekä asiakkaiden ja ammattilaisten kohtaamisten kautta. Tässä teos poikkeaa aiemmasta sote-integraatiota koskevasta tutkimuksesta, jossa painopiste on ollut enemmän rakenteellisissa ja hallinnollisissa kysymyksissä.

No full textEthnographic research has long been used to describe and interpret everyday working practices and societal change. Today's increasingly digitalized workflows and the emergence of artificial intelligence make ethnographies that delve into the everyday realities of work more important than ever. Ethnographies help to understand in a sensitive way how hidden work practices, the ways of interaction and collaboration, are changing in a technological work environment. On the other hand, ethnographers explore the rigid routines and practices that make up mundane work in different workplaces and work contexts.
The book consists of stories from researchers who have conducted ethnographic research, describing how ethnographic research is carried out today, what it requires of the researcher, and how ethnography can affect the people involved in the research – as well as the researchers themselves. The chapters deal with different fields of work, from process industry to expert and service work, and from elite political organizations to actor networks involved in the sustainability transition. The book enhances understanding of the everyday realities and methods of ethnographic research, its ethical principles, and the changing nature of work.Etnografinen tutkimus on kulkenut työn arjen käytäntöjen sekä yhteiskunnallisten muutosten kuvaajana ja tulkkina jo pitkään. Nykyinen digitalisoituva työ ja tekoälymurros tekevät työn arkeen jalkautuvien etnografioiden merkityksen entistäkin tärkeämmäksi. Etnografiat auttavat ymmärtämään herkällä tavalla, miten piiloiset työkäytännöt, vuorovaikuttamisen ja yhteistyön tavat muuttuvat teknologisessa ympäristössä. Toisaalta etnografit tarkastelevat, millaisista jähmettyneistä rutiineista ja käytännöistä työn arki muodostuu erilaisilla työpaikoilla ja verkostoissa.

These three perspectives – sustainability, management and corporate governance – run through the entire work and serve as its thematic focus areas.
The book consists of 15 peer-reviewed research articles. This multidisciplinary yet practical volume covers perspectives from business economics, administrative sciences, and law.
The articles are divided into two sections: auditing and sustainability. The first section takes a broad look at the different dimensions of assurance and their development costs, especially from the perspective of management and corporate governance. The focus is on good governance and its components. In the second section, the focus is on sustainability reporting, and various issues related to the management and assurance of sustainability information are examined.Kokoomateoksessa tarkastellaan ajankohtaisella tutkimusotteella tilintarkastuksen ja kestävyystiedon varmentamisen eri ulottuvuuksia ja ongelmia, joilla on liittymäkohtia myös johdon ja omistajaohjauksen kysymyksiin. Nämä kolme näkökulmaa – kestävyys, johto ja omistajaohjaus – läpileikkaavat teoskokonaisuutta ja toimivat sen temaattisina painopistealueina.
Teos koostuu 15 vertaisarvioidusta tutkimusartikkelista. Monitieteinen ja samalla käytännönläheinen teos kattaa niin liiketaloustieteellisiä, hallintotieteellisiä kuin oikeudellisiakin näkökulmia.
Artikkelit on jaettu tarkastusta ja kestävyyttä käsitteleviin osioihin. Ensimmäisessä osiossa tarkastelun kohteena ovat laaja-alaisesti varmennuksen eri ulottuvuudet ja niiden kehityskulut – erityisesti johdon ja omistajaohjauksen näkökulmasta. Keskiössä on hyvä hallintotapa ja sen osatekijät. Teoksen toinen osio keskittyy kestävyysraportointiin. Siinä tarkastelluksi tulevat erilaiset kestävyysinformaation hallintaan ja varmentamiseen liittyvät kysymykset.

No full textThis edited volume [Presidential Elections 2024: Candidate Selection, Media, and Popularity] analyses candidate selection and campaigning, the role of the media in the elections, and citizens' views on the institution of the presidency. The book also offers new insights into the assessment of the Finnish presidential institution from an international comparative perspective. The chapters in the volume draw primarily on survey data collected after the elections.
The campaigns of 2024 emphasized Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and Finland’s recent NATO membership, but the discussions also ventured into domestic policy issues that fall out of the president’s competence. The leading candidates were cautious in the debates, and the elections were largely conducted in a conciliatory spirit. In terms of voting behaviour, the citizens emphasized the candidates' foreign policy experience, political background, and values. The constant flood of polls benefited the leading candidates.
The formal powers of the Finnish president are limited, but the turbulent security environment combined with the president’s position as head of state, and high popularity facilitate strong presidential influence. In international comparison, Finnish presidents are exceptionally popular. Finns expect stability and leadership from the presidential institution in terms of both formal powers and the president's style of operation. The position of the president must continue to be critically examined, as must the increased role of polls in elections.Tämä teos analysoi vaalien ehdokasvalintaa ja kampanjointia, median roolia vaaleissa sekä kansalaisten näkemyksiä presidentin valta-asemasta. Samalla kirja tarjoaa uusia avauksia Suomen presidentti-instituution arviointiin, myös kansainvälisestä vertailevasta näkökulmasta. Teoksen luvut nojaavat ensisijaisesti vaalien jälkeen kerättyyn kyselyaineistoon.
Vaalikampanjoissa korostuivat Venäjän hyökkäyssota Ukrainassa ja tuore Nato-jäsenyys, mutta keskusteluissa liikuttiin myös sisäpoliittisissa teemoissa, jotka eivät kuulu presidentin toimivaltaan. Ehdokkaat varoivat tekemästä irtiottoja ja vaalit käytiinkin pitkälti turvallisuus edellä, sovittelevassa hengessä. Ehdokasvalinnassa korostuivat ehdokkaiden ulkopoliittinen kokemus, poliittinen tausta sekä heidän arvonsa. Jatkuva gallupien tulva hyödytti kärkiehdokkaita.
Presidentin muodollinen valta on rajallista, mutta asema valtionpäänä, jännittynyt turvallisuusympäristö ja suuri kansansuosio mahdollistavat aktiivisenkin vaikutusvallan. Kansainvälisessä vertailussa suomalaiset presidentit ovatkin poikkeuksellisen suosittuja. Suomalaiset toivovat presidentti-instituutiolta vakautta ja johtajuutta niin muodollisten valtaoikeuksien kuin presidentin toimintatyylin osalta. Presidentin asemaa tulee jatkossakin tarkastella kriittisesti, samoin kannatusmittausten korostunutta roolia vaaleissa
