No full textThe purpose of this article is to address the relationship between the nature of journalism and awareness raising opportunities based on empirical and theoretical research of Mongolian journalism. Using concrete examples, the author explains the reasons for the weak role of Mongolian media in raising public awareness, specifically pointing to the insufficient knowledge of media publishers and journalists about the nature of journalism and its social responsibility as well as their underestimation of journalism’s opportunity to raise awareness. The author also explains in detail the epistemological knowledge of journalism, which is important for improving the awareness raising opportunity of journalism, and sheds light on the classification, importance, and the existing gaps of knowledge
SOLUTION JOURNALISM: FROM “WATCHDOG” TO “GUIDE DOG”
No full textThere is no longer a balance between good and bad news. Reports are more focused on the bad things happe-ning and less on good news about solutions to our many problems. In this article, we introduce the concept solution journalism. We believe the concept is the solution to changing the face of journalism to be sustainable rather than destructive. Solution journalism is evidence-based, solutions-oriented reporting that focuses on solutions to the social issues rather than the issues themselves. The main concept of solution journalism is changing journalist from mare watchdogs to guidedogs for society. Journalists practicing solutions journalism uses rigorous evidence-based reporting to bring attention to the solution rather than just reporting on the issue. We believe that solution journalism is the new chapter in this new era of journalism

No full textJournalism does not directly and fullyparticipate in the system of distribution ofpower, but as a builder of the social legalconsciousness of the rule of law, which is thebasis of parliamentary systems. It creates apositive and negative public opinion in thenorms established by law and influences of itsimplementation. It provides a role andresponsibility to inculcate in society the idea ofsetting new norms. There is every reason tobelieve that parliamentary journalism isdifferent from other types of journalism(economic, political, sports journalism, etc.) inthat it participates in the establishment,formation, and updating of laws andregulations.Parliamentary journalism must have the basic“qualities” of being aware of the times, ofserving the needs of the information ofinterest, of being responsible for stimulatingand directing public debate, and of overseeingpublic policy. Even nowadays Mongolianparliamentary journalists are required to havethe skills and knowledge of a “leader” ofcommunication rather than information.

No full textMultimedia had known as one of the key aspect in digital reporting. Following study is aiming to differentiate the multimedia elements usage between world-leading online news and local. Within the framework of one week’s circulation. Study conducted on 997 news. As a result of content analyzes: local news’s video elements are 8.5 times less than world-leading news in number and duration. And vast majority of online news from local sites have 2 times less body-text than another. As a post-soviet country, Mongolia has its own attribute in journalism
