This study aims to identify the ability of Chinese learners to write essays in Chinese and to explore effective ways to improve their writing competence. Twenty-four third-year Chinese language students from a university participated in this research. The writing task was designed based on the essay section of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), which is one of the main criteria used to evaluate students’ writing performance. By analyzing students’ written works, this study seeks to understand how learners organize ideas, express opinions, and apply linguistic knowledge when writing in Chinese. The importance of this study lies in analyzing how students complete their essay assignments and determining how to teach this type of writing more effectively in the future. The analysis focuses on common writing problems, including grammatical errors, lack of coherence, limited vocabulary, and difficulties in using appropriate expressions. The results of the study reveal that many students struggle with structuring their essays logically and maintaining consistency in argumentation. Based on these findings, several pedagogical suggestions are provided to improve the teaching of Chinese essay writing, such as process-based instruction, peer feedback, and focused grammar practice. The outcomes of this research are expected to contribute to the enhancement of Chinese writing instruction in university settings

The structure of noun phrases (NPs) has long been a central topic in cross-linguistic research, as it provides insights into the organization of grammatical categories and the principles underlying language universals. Mongolian, as an agglutinative language with relatively flexible word order, presents unique challenges and opportunities for typological analysis. This study aims to examine the structural patterns of Mongolian noun phrases within a typological framework. By comparing Mongolian NPs with those of other languages, the research identifies generalizations that highlight both universal tendencies and language-specific properties. In doing so, the paper contributes to a deeper understanding of NP typology and the broader organization of grammatical structures across languages. The analysis focuses on key NP components, including determiners, adjectives, numerals, and possessive markers, as well as the ordering restrictions and hierarchical relationships among them. The results provide evidence for several typologically significant patterns in Mongolian, offering insights relevant to both theoretical linguistics and cross-linguistic studies

Модон цуур урлалын асуудалд : Aspects of Crafting the Wooden Musical Instrument 'Tsuur'

    No full text
Much research has been done on the origin, tonal system, repertoire, and structure of the wooden “Tsuur”. In these works, the method of crafting “Tsuur”, and the materials used are described in detail by the inheritors of wooden “Tsuur”. In the early times, they made “Tsuur” using mainly hollow-stemmed woody plants such as rhubarb, “tsoorgono”, and “balchirgana”, which were common in the area where they lived, but they were easily damaged and fragile. Therefore, they used more hard and monolithic trees, such as cedar, pine, and larch by hollowing them out and gluing them together. After that, they wrapped them with wire, and covered them with animal guts to make them strong. At the same time, the craftsman measured from the bottom of the “Tsuur” with his finger to make three holes in the wooden “Tsuur”, which caused the distance between the “Tsuur” holes to vary. Also, the length of the “Tsuur” and the diameter of the upper and lower rim holes differ. It is difficult for musicians of “Tsuur” to play in an ensemble, combine with other instruments, and be included in an orchestra’s composition. Because of these reasons, in this article, we have studied the problems faced in wooden “Tsuur” crafts and its tonal system, compared with the different methods of “Tsuur” craftsmen, and put forward our opinions and conclusions

In 2022, Mongolia is projected to sell a staggering 210 million liters of sugary drinks, amounting to a substantial expenditure of 522 billion MNT. Soft drinks typically contain around 10 grams of sugar per 100 ml, yet baked goods surpass this level. It's imperative that sugar constitutes less than five percent of the total daily caloric intake. For adults, the recommended daily sugar intake is between 20-30 grams, while children should limit their intake to 10-15 grams. The majority of products lining store shelves, including beverages, cookies, candies, cakes, and ice cream, boast high sugar contents. Therefore, it's crucial to scrutinize labels diligently. A high consumption of sugary products often equates to low cost and poor quality. Among the 16 varieties of juices and drinks manufactured in Mongolia, the highest carbohydrate content is found in Fanda apple juice at 12.8 grams, followed by Pepsi at 11 grams, Coca-Cola and mango juice at 10.2 grams. These beverages exhibit alarmingly high sugar levels
