Impact of foreign direct investment on host country’s development: a case study
Purpose is to assess the impact of the inward Nordic foreign direct investment on Lithuania’s exports.
Research methodology – this research applied correlation and regression analysis, as well as the Augmented Dickey–Fuller test and the Granger causality test were used.
Findings proved that interlinkages between Lithuanian exports and foreign direct investment from the different Nordic countries might vary from weak (Iceland and Denmark) to strong (Norway, Sweden, Finland).
Research limitations – greater availability of a statistical dataset covering the classification of foreign direct investment according to the investing country and the distribution of these investments and gross domestic product by economic activity would allow a more accurate assessment of the relationship between Scandinavian foreign direct investment inflows in individual economic sectors and the economic indicators of these sectors.
Practical implications – based on the research results, Lithuania has the potential to stimulate exports from inward Nordic foreign direct investment, especially Norwegian foreign direct investment in manufacturing.
Originality/Value – this study contributes to the internationalization theory by extending it from the sectorial angle, especially emphasizing the need to analyze the impact of foreign direct investment from a single country on the host economy and its economic structure
The effect of problem-based learning assisted with concept mapping founded on cognitive style on the creativity of writing exposition text
The aim of this research is to obtain another point of view with collaborative problem-based learning to increase writing creativity in the field of scientific work in the form of exposition text by investigating cognitive style as an individual character and using concept mapping media. This study uses descriptive research methods and multivariate analysis is used to provide a clear picture of writing creativity that considers the use of learning methods, concept mapping media, and students’ cognitive style backgrounds. The research subjects were students of the second-semester Islamic religious education study program from the Islamic Senior High School Diniyah Putri Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Sample selection was done by means of cluster random sampling. The sample was divided into two, the experimental class which collected 30 people, and the control class with a number of 30. The cognitive style must be considered in the application of the learning method. Students with field-dependent cognitive styles are more adaptable in collaborative learning. The use of media mapping to foster writing creativity was evident during the research. Concept mapping, which involves higher-order thinking skills, stimulates students to continue to involve the imagination in their creative process. Several educational implications are discussed and can be used as future research directions. The interpretation results are obtained by considering the relevant literature findings
Creativity and the doctor of philosophy: the case for creativity education within doctoral programs
Doctoral education is an increasingly prevalent part of the worldwide higher education landscape. Although there are variations in how programs are constructed and delivered, there is general agreement that evidence of creativity is expected in the final thesis. Despite the significant attention the supervisory process has received in the literature, students’ views on creativity as it applies to their candidature have not been extensively explored. This article reports on interviews with a sample of 12 current doctoral students in the areas of the arts, social sciences, and education from the theoretical perspective of the systems model of creativity. Interview participants were invited to reflect on the concept of creativity, and the factors which support or constrain their potential to be creative. The findings reveal that on reflection, students are able to identify the creative elements of their work, however the findings also indicate that creativity education should be given greater focus in doctoral programs, in order to embed this important concept and process to support students’ learning journey
Fostering creative English for specific purposes studies: implementation of flipped classroom method during COVID-19 pandemic at Antanas Gustaitis’ Aviation Institute, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Lithuania
The global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has had far-reaching consequences, including those within the realm of higher education. The flipped classroom method was adopted as an innovative teaching tool and creative approach within English for specific purposes classes at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University Antanas Gustaitis’ Aviation Institute to increase student motivation and enhance the teaching and learning process. The influence of creative and innovative loyalty programs’ features on customers’ attitudinal, conative, and behavioural loyalty
Companies allocate significant resources in loyalty programs with the primary goal of enhancing customer loyalty. However, the effectiveness of these programs is now a subject of academic debate. Scholars highlight concerns such as the creation of spurious loyalty, the need for perceived value, and evolving consumer expectations. To succeed in this changing landscape, companies must embrace creativity and innovation in their loyalty program design. As creativity and innovations in loyalty programs are new and little-studied phenomenon, a comprehensive assessment of potential creative and innovative features in loyalty programs is essential for a deeper understanding of their influence on customer loyalty. The aim of this study was to measure the influence of creative and innovative loyalty programs’ features on customers’ attitudinal, conative, and behavioural loyalty. 203 respondents took part in the research. Ordered logistic regression analysis was used to reach the aim of the study. The research findings indicate that engagement-, gamification-, personalization-, and experience-based loyalty programs have an influence on customer loyalty. All four types of features of creative and innovative loyalty programs influence attitudinal and behaviour loyalty, and three types of features of loyalty programs, i.e., engagement-, gamification-, and experience-based, influence conative loyalty. The study findings underscore the importance of designing new features of loyalty programs that align with specific loyalty dimensions, as they can have differential effects on attitudinal, conative, and behavioural aspects of customer loyalty. Such insights are valuable for companies seeking to enhance customer loyalty through creative and innovative loyalty program design and implementation
Evaluation of the performance of Multi-GNSS advanced orbit and clock augmentation – precise point positioning (MADOCA-PPP) in Japan region
For users of Precise Point Positioning (PPP), Multi-GNSS Advanced Orbit and Clock Augmentation PPP signals provide corrective data. When using the PPP approach and/or PPP-Ambiguity Resolution (AR) method, the QZSS signal provides globally applicable error corrections on satellite orbit, clock offset, and code/phase biases. In addition, from FY2024, as a part of the MADOCA-PPP technology demonstration, wide-area ionospheric correction data will be provided for the Asia-Oceania region. A software estimator of precise satellite information developed by JAXA, Multi-GNSS Advanced Demonstration Tool for Orbit and Clock Analysis (MADOCA), allows u-blox CO99-ZED-F9P and MSJ 3008-GM4-QZS utilizing MADOCA-PPP to be used in GNSS applications that need sub-decimetre precision but don’t have to be expensive. Errors caused by positioning satellites are computed by using observation data from domestic and overseas GNSS monitoring station networks such as IGS and MIRAI, and obtained correction data is transmitted from QZSS signal to provide highly precise positioning augmentation services that can be used in the Asia-Oceania Region. Users may utilize the PPP technique for high-precision locating by employing a GNSS receiver that supports the QZSS signals. This paper describes an experiment carried out with the static method to combine GPS, GLONASS, and QZSS signals in the project site (ISHI, USUD and MIZU stations in Japan). This paper examines the GPS/GLONASS/QZSS obtainable accuracy. These obtained results indicate that integrating GPS system with GLONASS and QZSS is favoured for surveying applications. It appears that integrating GPS/GLONASS/QZSS (MADOCA precise ephemeris file) static measurements in the study area between 0–4 millimetres accuracy can be guaranteed on all occasions
Modeling market value of land plots using GIS
This work examines the regulatory framework for expert monetary valuation of land plots. Scientific research on the development and improvement of economic-statistical methods for mass monetary valuation of land plots is analyzed. The peculiarities and advantages of using GIS in the valuation procedure are considered. A structure of the valuation database is developed for the effective selection of comparable plots during valuation by comparing sales prices and market analysis. The valuation database is formed based on data on land plot sales. Price formation factors are analyzed in order to construct an economic-statistical model of market value for land plots in Rivne. Scales of indicator values are proposed for formalizing the assessment of price formation factors. Functions of the ArcGIS are used to establish indicator values. The market value of land plots is modeled using multiple regression analysis. Additionally, a surface of land plot values is constructed, which serves to determine the approximate market value. The model has been verified using GIS tools. An accuracy assessment of the developed model has been carried out
A new multi-step BDF energy stable technique for the extended Fisher-Kolmogorov equation
The multi-step backward difference formulas of order k (BDF-k) for 3 ≤ k ≤ 5 are proposed for solving the extended Fisher–Kolmogorov equation. Based upon the careful discrete gradient structures of the BDF-k formulas, the suggested numerical schemes are proved to preserve the energy dissipation laws at the discrete levels. The maximum norm priori estimate of the numerical solution is established by means of the energy stable property. With the help of discrete orthogonal convolution kernels techniques, the L2 norm error estimates of the implicit BDF-k schemes are established. Several numerical experiments are included to illustrate our theoretical results

Identification of a time-dependent source term in a nonlocal problem for time fractional diffusion equation
This paper is concerned with the inverse problem of recovering the time dependent source term in a time fractional diffusion equation, in the case of nonlocal boundary condition and integral overdetermination condition. The boundary conditions of this problem are regular but not strongly regular.
