    A dual hesitation fuzzy VIKOR method with incomplete attribute weights for property service quality evaluation

    The evaluation of property service quality is a typical multi-index evaluation problem, which has the characteristics of comprehensiveness and incomplete information in the modern service industry environment. To solve the above problem, we propose a dual hesitation fuzzy VIKOR comprehensive decision method based on incomplete attribute weights for evaluating property service quality. The method integrates innovative distance measurement, comprehensive weighting, and VIKOR decision technology to address challenges such as incomplete information, unknown weights, and evaluator hesitation. By incorporating the information value of dual hesitation fuzzy set hesitancy, we have designed a new distance measurement formula and developed a comprehensive weighting method that combines subjective and objective data. The dual hesitation fuzzy VIKOR model utilizes these tools to calculate utility values and regret values in order to make scientifically grounded decisions. This approach provides robust support for enhancing property service quality and demonstrates broad potential applications in fuzzy information processing and other domains

    “Quo Vadis urban areas?”: (Re)thinking the future of urban areas using interpretive structural modeling

    The world’s population continues to grow at an unprecedented rate, with urban areas experiencing a more rapid rise in population density than rural regions. This demographic shift compels decision-makers to address pressing urban challenges and rethink future structures of cities. However, a vision for global sustainable urban growth remains elusive, as planners often lack comprehensive, credible and dynamic models to guide decision-making. The main purpose of this study is to propose a process-oriented methodology that integrates cognitive mapping, interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and a matrice d’impacts croisés multiplication appliquée à un classement (MICMAC) analysis to evaluate and prioritize key determinants of urban development. Group work sessions involving decision-makers from diverse fields were conducted to identify critical variables influencing urban development. Unlike traditional models, the proposed approach emphasizes participatory decision-making. By combining cognitive mapping and ISM-MICMAC, this study enables the identification of causal relationships among variables and allows decision-makers to anticipate trends and prioritize challenges effectively. The findings were further validated by an external expert to ensure neutrality and reliability. Overall, this study provides a theoretical contribution to decision-making methodologies while offering a practical framework for urban planners to influence cities toward a sustainable future

    Enhancing real estate mass appraisal in Type II metropolitan cities: A GIS-MGWR approach

    At present, China’s real estate appraisal sector confronts a number of challenges, including low appraisal efficiency, significant human influence, lack of objectivity, and absence of unified standards. Particularly, conducting a scientific, precise, and efficient mass appraisal of existing housing is vital for fostering the industry‘s healthy development. This study adopts Zhangjiakou City in Hebei Province as a case study, integrating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and utilizing the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS), Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR), Semi-parametric Geographically Weighted Regression (SGWR), and Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) models to assess the prices of existing housing. The research delves into the specific challenges in mass appraisal of real estate within Type II metropolitan cities. The study reveals spatial heterogeneity in the prices of existing housing in Zhangjiakou City and shows that the MGWR model excels in mass appraisal of housing prices in Type II metropolitan cities. This research offers strategic guidance for real estate market investment and transactions in Zhangjiakou City and provides valuable references for other Type II metropolitan cities in real estate appraisal practices, market analysis, and policy formulation

    A critical history of architectural modernism

    Future generations deserve and need an honest accounting of architectural Modernism, and its Neo-Modernist and “Post-Modernist” variants, based on scientific analysis and the factual historical record. Reintroducing traditional tectonic culture and focusing on applying fractal and planar symmetries to design critique provides a more revolutionary account of the Modernist concept, its associated “propaganda”, and the physical legacy of the movement. The authors seek answers to two questions: (1) whether Modernist architecture justly conquered the world by its claimed “Zeitgeist” – or was its success due to other factors; and (2) to what extent Modernism brings about the originally promised cultural and social benefits today. This essay seeks to clear up the ambiguity of the Modernist architectural doctrine through facts, and includes criticisms regarding its massive detrimental impact on the world’s built and natural environments. A growing movement in Europe and elsewhere is challenging the legitimacy of many contemporary architectural designs. These critics attack the persistence of discredited Modernist theory, and the resulting harm to people and our planet. Defenders respond that the members of this movement are ignorant populists who do not understand the legitimate theoretical and cultural foundations of contemporary design. Here we examine this controversy and conclude that a considerable body of scientific evidence supports the critics. By focusing on the choices we do have today, we empower architects to implement drastic changes in new projects

    Factors hindering and boosting SDG7 implementation in EU countries

    One of the sustainable development goals (SDG7) is to ensure access to clean and affordable energy, which is related to most other SDGs and plays a crucial role in economic development and human well-being. The aim of the article is to identify factors that enhance and delay one of the most crucial goals of sustainable development, SDG7. The study’s originality lies in the spatiotemporal approach to analysing the impact of selected factors on the development of green energy and increasing its availability. Three groups of potential SDG7 determining factors have been identified: ecological, social and economic. The proposed approach and the use of sensitivity analysis to variables weighting and ranking constructions of EU countries is an innovative aspect of the work and fills the gap in research on SDG7. The study showed that Denmark and Sweden occupy leading positions in the rankings based on the extent of SDG7 implementation. In contrast, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Lithuania occupied one of the last positions. The results of panel-data model estimations showed that in each estimated model, the same “indispensable variables” significantly affect the implementation of SDG7. Among these variables, only the unemployment rate significantly negatively impacted the SDG7 execution. First published online 15 November 202

    How does city group risk-taking affect climate-friendly technology innovation in cities? Evidence from China

    Climate-friendly technology innovation, which always comes with risk, is becoming an essential tool for Chinese cities to cope with climate change. As a macro variable, how does city group risk-taking affect climate-friendly innovation in cities? This study conducts a qualitative analysis on the basis of the theory of planned behaviour. Then, Chinese city data from 2008 to 2020 are employed to study the impact of city group risk-taking on climate-friendly technology innovation with city and year two-way fixed effects models. The results show: first, city group risk-taking promotes climate-friendly technology innovation in cities; for every one standard deviation increase in the level of city group risk-taking, the level of climate-friendly technology innovation in cities increases by 0.1294 standard deviations. Second, city group risk-taking improves a city’s market vitality and promotes the city’s governmental technology investments, both of which are conducive to climate-friendly technology innovation in cities. Third, the role of city group risk-taking in promoting climate-friendly technological innovation in cities is heterogeneous and is greater in cities with high enthusiasm for financial technology innovation, in cities with high population density and in cities with high environmental penalties.     Perception of primary school teachers towards role of creativity in learning: a qualitative study

    Creativity has become one of the most coveted skills in today’s ever-changing world, where the sustainability of an individual is based on his/her creative potential. The need to foster creativity and innovation has long been a priority in the educational and corporate spheres. The current research focuses on perceptions primary school teachers hold regarding creativity and its role in learning, along with the identification of the creative student. The data is collected through focus group discussion. Teachers unanimously accept the role of creativity in enhancing learning and facilitating the child’s overall development. The study could be replicated in different countries, and the gap between perception and reality could be identified. This gap identification could be considered a basis for providing developmental intervention to the teachers to foster creativity among the children and formulate policy for educational management at the school level

    The context of the creative society in leaders’ political speeches

    This paper explores the context of the creative society in the political speeches of leaders. The study uses qualitative content analysis to analyse the speeches of political leaders and citizen leaders, how they recur and reflect themes relevant to the creative society. Citizen leaders in the context of this study are well-known and active public figures, public figures, leaders of various non-governmental organizations who speak out on issues of public interest. Political leaders are politicians who carry out political communication, which is focused on attracting voters, and their speeches are part of their image-building. The study showed that political leaders are more likely to give speeches, but citizen leaders are more likely to give speeches on topics of creative public interest, their speeches tend to focus on themes such as exceptionalism, they seek to touch the audience’s feelings, they talk about how everyone wants to feel important, to make a contribution to solving a problem, and they emphasise how we can each contribute to the destruction of hierarchy. Political leaders usually talk about economic growth – North Atlantic Treaty Organization, European Union – but also about human freedoms, how they were fought for in the past and how important it is now. The results of this research can help citizens and political leaders to improve their political communication, namely their languages, to understand what kind of communication is relevant for a creative society

    Conceptual modeling of the structure of a geoinformation system for formation of land plots in state and municipal ownership of settlements

    The article deals with the issues of automation of land cadastral information processing based on the modern international standards for management and processing of geospatial information. Object-relational databases together with the GIS provide powerful opportunities for collection, systematization, processing, analysis of various data, as well as storage and visualization of spatial information. According to the results of the analysis of the current legislative provision and processing of the existing data based on the international standards of the ISO 19110 series, the research developed a conceptual scheme of the geospatial database for the formation of state and municipal land plots within settlements. The research provides a model for checking the topology of the geospatial database of the system of automated formation of state and municipal land plots within settlements according to the structure and requirements of the international standard “ISO 19107:2019 Geographic information. Spatial schema”. The developed conceptual model and topology verification model are the basis for physical data modeling and allow ensuring the principle of interoperability in the Spatial Data Infrastructure

    A class of nonlinear systems with new boundary conditions: existence of solutions, stability and travelling waves

    In this work, we begin by introducing a new notion of coupled closed fractional boundary conditions to study a class of nonlinear sequential systems of Caputo fractional differential equations. The existence and uniqueness of solutions for the class of systems is proved by applying Banach contraction principle. The existence of at least one solution is then accomplished by applying Schauder fixed point theorem. The Ulam Hyers stability, with a limiting-case example, is also discussed. In a second part of our work, we use the tanh method to obtain a new travelling wave solution for the coupled system of Burgers using time and space Khalil derivatives. By bridging these two aspects, we aim to present an understanding of the system’s behaviour
