Who found themselves in strange adventures: Hlapić or Dikics? This year is dedicated to Ivana Brlić-Mažuranić, a renowned storyteller and internationally acclaimed children\u27s writer, and one of the most translated Croatian authors. Born in 1874, her 150th birthday is celebrated this year. Brlić-Mažuranić wrote poetry, essays, diaries, collections of short stories, and poems for children. In 1913, she garnered significant attention from the literary audience with the publication of the children\u27s novel "Čudnovate zgode šegrta Hlapića." Her crowning achievement is considered to be the collection of short stories "Priče iz davnine" (Stories from the Past), published in 1916. This paper explores the author\u27s literary reception in Hungary, with a primary focus on analyzing the translation of verbs in the novel "Čudnovate zgode šegrta Hlapića." The results obtained will contribute to expanding knowledge about the translation techniques of Croatian-Hungarian texts and can be applied to the teaching unit of text processing
Messages of Personal Identity Attempt in Foreign Criminal Rules
Research worldwide and in our country (Hungary) have revealed that false personal identities play a prominent role in “justizmord” cases. That is why it is worthwhile having a closer look at identity rules and methodologies of other countries in this respect as well. In this study, the author examines the Slovenian, Austrian, Swiss, Serbian, Croatian, and distant (but, as it turns out, much the same) Turkish norms, all embedded in the continental legal system just like the Hungarian ones. Based on the legal details and implementation recommendations there, the researcher formulates at the end of his study the lessons learned from the models, the legal and forensic development opportunities available to us, the conclusions for efficiency and fairness, and the current and future messages to legislators and practitioners
A Comparative Analysis of Child Custody and Access Rights After Divorce or Separation in Kenya and England
This study examines the laws and practices surrounding child custody and access rights in Kenya and England following divorce or separation. Its goal is to identify similarities and differences in both countries\u27 legal frameworks and social practices governing these issues. The research methodology employed for this study includes reviewing existing literature such as statutes, case law, and academic papers. The study has discovered that while there are some similarities in the legal frameworks governing child custody and access rights in Kenya and England, there are also significant differences in the legal principles and social practices that inform these frameworks. Various factors, including cultural norms, socioeconomic status, and the role of the family in society, influence these differences. In conclusion, the study suggests that further research is necessary to understand how these differences affect parents and children in both jurisdictions. Additionally, it recommends developing more effective legal and social policies to support families after divorce or separation.

A norvég irodalom szerepe az Élet című lap modernizálási programjában
The Élet [Life]: literary, artistic, social and economic magazine (1891–1895) is not among the best-known press products from the 19th century, although one of the clearly defined goals of its program was the improvement and reformation of Hungarian culture and society. Through the diverse writings published on its pages, a peculiar side of Hungarian literary modernity can be discovered, whose essence was the simultaneous preservation of national features and the utilization of foreign models. The present study analyses this role through a general overview of Élet, an account of the emerging opinions about it, and the periodical’s own self-definitions, paying particular attention to the influence that Norwegian literature – especially Henrik Ibsen – had on the work of the editors and on their conceptions of modern literature.

In the Hungarian critical discourse of the late 19th century, the term “decadent” was either used in a pejorative sense, or avoided, more precisely: replaced by other labels. The present paper examines the use of the term, its function and the reasons for its omission, focusing on the poetics of the literary periodical A Hét (1890–1921) edited by József Kiss. It examines how the editors and critics of A Hét distanced themselves from decadent poetry and how their vocabulary reflected this disjuncture. In other words, how the press at the fin-de-siècle spoke of decadence without naming it. The paper also discusses the turn-of-the-century rejection of literary movements associated with decadence (which is understood here as a specific perspective of modernism). The paper also reflects on the possible causes of this distancing and the new critical vocabulary that resulted from it.A 19. század végi magyar nyelvű kritikai és sajtódiskurzusban vagy pejoratív értelemben kerül elő a „dekadens” jelző, vagy kerülik, illetve más fogalmakkal helyettesítik azt.
Madame Brulart’s Bastille-bijoux: History and private lives in women’s writings around the French Revolution
My paper offers an interpretation of four novels by women writers (Charlotte Smith, Mary Robinson, Helen Craik) written either during or very shortly after the French revolution. Its aims are briefly the following. 1) To challenge the traditional narrative (associated with Georg Lukács’s seminal study) according to which the historical novel as a genre was created by Walter Scott and responded originally to the shock of the Napoleonic wars. 2) To present a framework in which the pre-historicist (pre-Hegelian) understanding and narrating of history can be understood. This is the classical, rhetorical, exemplary view of history, most readily associated by the eighteenth-century authors with the name of Plutarch. 3) To offer an explanation of the prominence of women authors in the early history of the historical novel. My paper attempts that by emphasising the continuity between the personal and the political that the Plutarchan tradition enabled. Anecdotal, familial, even sentimental elements of such narratives take nothing away from the historical significance of the actors concerned. Women, for whom the initial promise of the transformation in France included the promise of opening up the rigid boundaries separating masculine public world from feminine domesticity used their accounts of the revolution to reinvestigate and reaffirm the continuities between those words
