Multifactorial Dermatitis in an Elderly Patient with Chronic Actinic Dermatitis: A Case Report
Background : Chronic actinic dermatitis (CAD) is a rare, persistent photodermatosis triggered by UV and visible light, primarily affecting elderly individuals. With multifactorial etiologies, including genetic predisposition, environmental exposure, and comorbidities, CAD significantly impacts quality of life. This case report presents an elderly farmer with CAD, emphasizing the complexities of diagnosis and management in individuals exposed to high levels of sunlight due to occupational factors.
Methods : A 70-year-old male farmer presented with a two-week history of pruritus and burning sensations on his face, exacerbated by sun exposure. He had a history of seborrheic dermatitis and hypertension. Physical examination revealed erythematous, hyperpigmented plaques on sun-exposed areas, with macular erythema, erosion, and lichenification. The working diagnosis was CAD, with actinic prurigo and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma as differentials. Management included methylprednisolone, cetirizine, and a compounded cream containing clobetasol propionate and gentamicin. Preventive measures, such as the use of moisturizers, sunblock, and UV avoidance, were also emphasized. The prognosis was favorable for life and function but uncertain for complete remission due to CAD's chronic nature.
Conclusions : This case underscores the importance of an integrated approach combining pharmacological treatment and preventive strategies to manage CAD effectively. Tailored interventions addressing occupational and environmental risk factors are vital. Diagnostic limitations highlight the necessity for follow-up and the development of enhanced diagnostic tools. CAD management requires multidisciplinary collaboration to optimize patient outcomes
The Palliative Role of Colchicine on Advanced Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma Patient with Socio-Economic Challenges: A Case Report
Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare, slow-growing tumor that commonly presents beyond the point of resectability. Current guidelines recommend chemotherapy and radiotherapy for inoperable cases. However, palliative resources are not always accessible for patients with socio-economic barriers. Meanwhile, colchicine is a cost-effective drug and possesses anticancer effects. Here, we present a 53-year-old man with a 6-month history of painless jaundice, severe pruritus, recurrent fever, progressively growing abdominal mass, loss of appetite, and significant weight loss. He was incapable to perform adequate self-care and remained bedridden. Courvoisier sign was noted. Liver function tests show hyperbilirubinemia with elevated CA 19-9 level. Abdominal MRI 3T and MRCP showed hilar cholangiocarcinoma and obliteration of the hepatic vein. The patient and his family did not have health insurance and lived on a minimum income. Considered inoperable, the patient received daily colchicine 1 mg. Within four months, his symptoms have subsided, and he could perform several house chores. Bilirubin also showed a decreasing trend. In neoplastic cells, colchicine inhibits cell mitosis by perturbing tubulin formation. Being widely available, colchicine can be a palliative drug for terminally ill patients with socio-economic challenges. Although it improves patient performance status, we recommend further studies and close monitoring for the use of colchicine in advanced cholangiocarcinoma cases

Background: Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the primary cause of cervical cancer. One of the key preventive measures to reduce the incidence of cervical cancer is immunization. According to the data from the World Health Organization year 2020, the national HPV vaccination coverage in Indonesia was only 5% for the complete dose and 6% for the first dose. Lack of knowledge is one of the contributing factor of HPV vaccination coverage.
Methods: This study was conducted with cross-sectional design. This study used primary data which was collected using questionnaires. The questionnaire has been tested for validity and reliability in previous study. The subjects were female students of Faculty of Medicine University of Pelita Harapan.
Results: Our of 770 subjects with mean age of 20.3 years old, 490 subjects (63.6%) never got HPV vaccination, 102 subjects (13.3%) were not fully vaccinated and 178 subjects (23.1%) were fully vaccinated. Age at first dose of HPV vaccination was 9-14 years old in 123 subjects (43.9%) and > 15 years old in 157 subjects (56.1%). From all of the HPV vaccinated subjects, 18 subjects (6.4%) got bivalent vaccine, 52 subjects (18.6%) got quadrivalent vaccine and 64 subjects (22.9%) got nonvalent vaccine. Majority of the subjects (354 subjects, 46%) had good knowledge regarding HPV vaccination, 271 subjects (35.2%) had sufficient knowledge and 145 subjects (18.8%) had poor knowledge.
Conclusions: Despite sufficient knowledge regarding HPV vaccination among majority of female medical students at Pelita Harapan University, HPV vaccination coverage remained suboptimal
The Relationship of Body Mass Index with Length of Stay in Symptomatic Cholelithiasis Patients Who Have Undergoing Open Cholecystectomy at RSUS Lippo Village Karawaci Hospital
Background: Gallstones, also known as cholelithiasis, are hardened deposits of digestive fluids that develop in the gallbladder. A serious medical condition called cholelithiasis is frequently managed with general surgery. One of the treatments for cholelithiasis is an open cholecystectomy. It will take some time to recover from this surgical procedure at the hospital. The period of hospitalization will depend on the patient's weight. Numerous research findings continue to conflict with this study. As a result, this study was carried out to examine the connection between BMI and the length of hospital stay in the open cholecystectomy technique.
Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design with a sample population of cholelithiasis patients at Siloam Hospital. The sample size of 51 was selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data is taken from the patient's medical record and the data collected will be analyzed using Mann-U Whitney.
Result: From 51 samples, the mean length of stay for subjects with BMI < <23 kg/ m2 was 3 days, with the lowest value being 1 day and the highest value was 5 days. Meanwhile, the mean length of stay for subjects with BMI > 23 kg/ m2 was 3 days with the lowest value was 2 days and the highest value was 6 days. From the Mann-U Whitney test, it was found that the results of the comparison were not significant (p> 0.05).
Conclusions: This study shows there is no relationship between BMI and duration of hospitalization in cholelithiasis symptomatic patients undergoing open cholecystectomy surgery
Efficacy and Safety of Stem Cell Therapy for Spinal Cord Injury in Adults: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Background: Despite encouraging early results, clinical outcomes remain inconsistent across trials. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of stem cell therapy in adults with spinal cord injury (SCI).
Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA 2020 guidelines. PubMed, EMBASE, and Scopus were searched until 18 October 2025. Eligible studies included adult SCI patients receiving stem cell therapy with measurable neurological outcomes. Data synthesis was performed using Review Manager 5.4 under a random-effects model, reporting pooled risk ratios (RR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Risk of bias was assessed using ROBINS-I, and evidence certainty was graded via GRADE.
Result: Thirteen studies involving 470 participants (286 intervention, 184 control) were included. Stem cell therapy significantly improved neurological recovery compared with controls (RR = 2.64; 95% CI 1.70–4.10; p < 0.0001; I² = 0%). Subgroup analyses showed consistent benefits across baseline AIS classifications (RR = 2.61; 95% CI 1.71–3.98) and cell doses (RR = 2.75; 95% CI 1.63–4.64). No major safety signals were identified. GRADE assessment rated the certainty of efficacy evidence as moderate.
Conclusions: Stem cell therapy yields significant neurological improvement in adult SCI with a favorable safety profile. The findings support its regenerative potential through neuroprotective and remyelinating mechanisms. However, larger randomized controlled trials are required to validate efficacy, optimize protocols, and assess long-term safety

From ”˜Being’ to ”˜Becoming’: The Transition from Music Education Students to Novice Teachers, Universitas Pelita Harapan
Students-turned-into-teachers encounter a transition process during their early years of teaching. In recent years, there has been considerable discourse on how crucial this transition process is. Scholars have suggested that the first five years of teaching are the determining factor””whether these novice teachers choose to stay in their profession, or otherwise. While this topic has become one of the utmost concerns by scholars in the education field, its study on music education is still limited. Thus, this research aims to explore and investigate the transition process of music education undergraduate students who became novice teachers, particularly at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). UPH is one of the leading universities in Indonesia that serves a Music Education program for undergraduates. Using phenomenology case study, the data was collected through semi-structured interviews of two graduates of the Music Education Program at UPH who became music teachers in formal institutions. The secondary data of this research were the interviews of the respondents’ work colleagues and lecturers, as well as the questionnaires of 31 alumni of the Music Education Program. Overall, this research focused on three aspects of the respondents’ transition process, which are: (1) their challenges; (2) their perception; (3) their preparation program. The evidence showed that the graduates of the Music Education Program at UPH have experienced both positive and negative transition processes throughout their early careers. The most significant challenges of their transition are doing administrative tasks and class management. This research has also found that the university program gave a significant impact on preparing these newly-appointed teachers, in terms of their music teachers’ identity, and their professionalism in the work field. This research heightens the awareness and knowledge on how the university can improve the preparation program for music education graduates to face their transition process as beginning music teachers
Designing Compact Picnic Support Products with a Modular System
The Covid-19 pandemic has significantly impacted mental health, increasing feelings of sadness, stress, anxiety, and isolation. Remote work and virtual interactions, though essential, did not fully alleviate these challenges. Trend Watching’s 2023 predictions, “Age of Healing” and “Joyning,” underscore the search for healing and meaningful connections. According to a survey by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Indonesians average 2.6 picnics per year, far fewer than Malaysia’s 10.3. The logistical challenge of transporting numerous picnic items highlights the need for tools to streamline the picnic experience in Indonesia.
This research employs the Research through Design (RtD) approach, involving iterative cycles of design, prototyping, and testing. Initially, a literature review gathered information about picnics. Observations and staff interviews in the Jabodetabek area identified design opportunities and community preferences. A survey assessed participants’ knowledge of picnics, challenges faced, and essential items. An experimental picnic and Focus Group Discussion provided firsthand insights. Data from these activities guided the development of design concepts, which were prototyped, tested, and refined into the final design.
The solution addresses picnickers’ challenges with a lightweight picnic bag featuring separate compartments for essentials. It ensures food protection from temperature fluctuations, easy transport for five people, and cleanliness for utensils. This design enhances the practicality of carrying picnic essentials, offering a modular system that allows users to customize according to their needs. Beyond meeting design goals, the product is feature-rich and competitively priced compared to similar market options
