Świeckość państwa zakwestionowana we Włoszech. Debata na temat krzyży w szkolnych klasach.
In November 2009 the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg ruled that crosses displayed in classrooms of public school are not in agreement with the freedom of religion guaranteed by the European Convention on Human Rights. This ruling was based on the claim that the presence of the Christian symbol limit parents’ right to educate their children in conformity with their own faith and the right of children to believe or not to believe. In Italy, from which the case originates, the Court’s sentence stirred up heated political debates and caused strong public opinion reactions. The verdict was interpreted as a threat to the Catholic-based cultural traditions of the country, despite the traditions not being continued in terms of religious devotion in Italy
Przyszłość Europy wobec zagrożeń ekologicznych
The article discusses the possible ecological and environmental threats that Europe can be faced with in the nearest future, along with the possible scenarios of the damage. The analysis presents several ideas for dealing with the threats, as well as problem-solving models, with special attention paid to Jeremy Rifkin’s ‘Third Industrial Revolution Concept’. The basis of the concept is the social aspect of the ecological change that the future may bring about. The demands and challenges that will have to be met as a result of the change are central for this article

The paper, entitled The prospects of Turkish membership in EU, presents an international debate that has continued for many years, concerning the subject of Turkish EU candidature. The debate is an expression of European elites’ anxiety about the future shape of the organization. The study deals with such issues as a common European identity and Turkey’s Europeanization process, from Atatürk’s reforms up to the integration with European structures. Strangers in their own country. Internally Displaced Persons After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Georgia participated in the armed conflicts over South Ossetia (1991-1992 and 2008) and Abkhazia (1992-1993). As a consequence, Georgia had to accept forced displaced persons. The following thesis focuses on the Abkhazian conflict, its causes and effects. The thesis is based on the analysis of the specific situation of IDPs which has gone on since 1993. Afghanistan is one of the most unstable countries in the world. The process of reconstruction began in 2001 when Taliban regime was defeated. It is difficult to stabilize situation in Afghanistan. Stabilization requires the help from an international community, especially the European Union, the ISAF and the United States of America. The support is mostly financial and material. Public and political activity of women – this subject has been constantly present in Polish public discourse for many years. Lately, the main part of this discourse is the matter of parity and legal guarantee of minimum 35% places dedicated to women on the elections candidates’ register. This essay assesses the legitimacy of these modifications with reference to necessity of cultural or social circumstances. The author also presents factors that determinate women’s public activity. All of these theoretical deliberations are referred to the situation in Gostyń commune and particularly to the personnel of the town council (it consists of only 19% of women)
Etyczny bunt w reżimie demokratycznym
After twenty years of a democratic regime in Poland, one can see its condition. There are three categories of a riot - “the narrowest”, “narrow” and “wide”. The articele presents the examples of each type and the cause of their existence. Sometimes it results from the fasion or the reality is somehow changed. These changes may be fragmentary or they may affect the whole society. The article discusses this differentiation. To become a rebel, many obstacles must be overcome
