Otto Wojciech, Czytanie poety – widzenie poezji. O Wojaczku Lecha Majewskiego [Reading a Poet – Seeing Poetry. On Wojaczek by Lech Majewski]. „Przestrzenie Teorii” 32. Poznań 2019, Adam Mickiewicz University Press, pp. 285–300. ISSN 1644-6763. DOI 10.14746/pt.2019.32.15. The film chronicles the last days in the life of Rafał Wojaczek, who committed suicide at the age of 26. This is the director’s vision that reflects the spirit and character of an artistic genius and his poetic work. Wojaczek is presented against the background of the grey, dirty and bleak communist reality of the late 1960s and early 1970s and therefore becomes a symbol of a rebellious artist, not reconciled with the world and with himself. His colourful character and no less impressive worksshown in the film create the image of an artist whose life led in a straight line and with absolute consistency towards self-destruction. By showing the poet’s rebellion against reality, the director describes the artist’s self-destruction that headed for a tragic end. The is a black and white film with many experimental form treatments.Otto Wojciech, Czytanie poety – widzenie poezji. O Wojaczku Lecha Majewskiego [Reading a Poet – Seeing Poetry. The article deals with the still relevant interdisciplinary research movement, which chose the relation between music and literature as the object of its analysis. The book by Libor Martinek and Małgorzata Gamrat, which is the result of cooperation between a literary scholar and a musicologist, is the main basis for and contribution to this discussion. Following the path set by P. Scher, these authors have found a methodological dimension, on which issues of literary text functioning in the music sphere are located, and on the other hand, attempts to define a so-called literary text’s musical aspects. The article deals with the still relevant interdisciplinary research movement, which chose the relation between music and literature as the object of its analysis. This paper juxtaposes W.R. Bion’s psychoanalytic theory of psychosis with Dadaistic works of art. The aim of this juxtaposition is to enable the reader to better understand Bion’s theory of psychosis and to propose a new approach to Dadaistic work from the perspective of psychoanalytic theory. The works of art will illustrate basic psychotic mechanisms. It is a starting point for further elaboration of Bion’s theory of thinking and his view on subjectivity. At the same time an original approach towards Dadaistic works of art will be presented, based on psychoanalytic concepts of fragmentation and symbolic equation. Essential differences between creativity and madness will be emphasized. This paper juxtaposes W.R. Bion’s psychoanalytic theory of psychosis with Dadaistic works of art. The article is an attempt at analysing the role of the references to jazz music in the Argentinian writer’s most famous novel, which chapters 10–18 provide an interesting example of the use of this kind of music as a means of a whole range of extraliterary meanings. In the article Hopscotch is treated both as a Cortázar’s artistic manifesto and as an example of a work which fulfils its assumptions in the most complete manner. Musical elements such as improvisation and swing shape the novel in its various aspects, from narration to structure, reflecting a surrealism-inspired need to create literature that transcends traditional ontological frameworks. Jazz is also an illustration of aspirations to independence in artistic and social fields, as well as a means of conveying philosophical ideas and reaching the subconscious. The article is an attempt at analysing the role of the references to jazz music in the Argentinian writer’s most famous novel, which chapters 10–18 provide an interesting example of the use of this kind of music as a means of a whole range of extraliterary meanings. The paper analyzes the thesis that constantly transgressing boundaries in art is a fundamental principle and essential condition for artistic progress. Crossing external (the art – other discourses) and internal (between various art genres) boundaries is analyzed on the basis of transformations (especially adaptation) and representations. Dialogue relations initialized by art crossing the boundaries are analyzed as well: reinterpretations, polemics, extensions and supplementations. There is also a discussion of the ways in which semiotic and media boundaries are trangressed, especially the semiotic and media borders that are essential for the semiotic sphere of one artistic genre for the semiotic and media sphere of the other. The article refers to examples taken from literature, film, sculpture and painting. The paper analyzes the thesis that constantly transgressing boundaries in art is a fundamental principle and essential condition for artistic progress. The article presents an interpretation of Orwell video games in context of available analytical tropes in Orwellian research. The paper touches on various problems described by academic readers of Nineteen Eighty-Four and tries to answer the question whether games provide innovations in the way they problematize socio-political issues in comparison to Orwell’s classic novel. In the introductory part, the author discusses the possibility of utilizing the notion of critical dystopia in the analysis of Orwell video games. The following chapters touch on the subject of cultural references, realistic styles, biopolitics and class representations. The article presents an interpretation of Orwell video games in context of available analytical tropes in Orwellian research.
