Historiografia wobec poetyzacji słowa. Znaczenie literatury kontrfaktycznej dla popularyzacji wiedzy historycznej
The search for connections between history and literature has been going on continuously since antiquity. Interference between disciplines is obvious today, due to the narrative form of application, bringing the stories told closer to the novel. The search for non-narrative connections continues to this day. The main task of this article is to conduct a brief analysis of the basic interpretations of both disciplines and to indicate their role in building alternative literary stories. It also serves to show that categories such as narrative, imagery, truth and fiction play a pivotal role in the historiographic teaching process through alternative literary histories. The search for connections between history and literature has been going on continuously since antiquity. Na styku mediów, na styku technik. „Foto-grafia” klasyczna i cyfrowa w polskiej poezji najnowszej
The aim of this text is to present the literary image of the breakthrough that occurred with the invention of digital photography. The article focuses on the most contemporary Polish poetry – mainly authors born in the 70s, such as Jacek Dehnel, Marcin Świetlicki or Bronka Nowicka. On the basis of their texts, the literary image of both traditional analog photography and photos created with the use of the latest techniques is reconstructed. In her interpretations, the author uses the tools she has developed herself, which include concepts such as “photo-graphemicality”, which is a combination of features linking text with photography, and “photo-grapheme”, which is its individual realisation. The aim of this text is to present the literary image of the breakthrough that occurred with the invention of digital photography. Asceza, akrobacja, aleturgia. O konwersji w literaturze
Using the concepts of Michel Foucault’s technologies of the Self and Peter Sloterdijk’s anthropotechnics, the article attempts to create a theoretical model of literature as a tool for converting a literary subject. This model distinguishes three forms of the Self that are revealed in the process of conversion carried out in the medium of literature: the Self as subject, the Self as object and the other Self. Within the relations between these three incarnations, three conversion processes have been distinguished: asceticism – understood as an exercise in writing, acrobatics – as an act of literary secession to another world, and alethurgy – a textual technique of self-knowledge. Ultimately, this theoretical model is presented in the form of a conversion triangle.Using the concepts of Michel Foucault’s technologies of the Self and Peter Sloterdijk’s anthropotechnics, the article attempts to create a theoretical model of literature as a tool for converting a literary subject. „Na dwu i na czterech łapach”. Eseistyka nieantropocentryczna i pisarstwo Michała Cichego
The starting point for the discussion presented in the article is the question whether it is possible and reasonable to distinguish the non-anthropocentric essay. The author refers to the latest genological findings, indicates why the assumed descriptive categories make it difficult to recognise that genre, and then formulates a range of counter-arguments (with a particular focus on subjectivity) and defines certain requirements for the non-anthropocentric essay. The later part of the article is devoted to the work of Michał Cichy as an example of a non-representative embodiment of that form. His essays, related to the concepts by Tim Ingold and Tadeusz Sławek, are examined from the angle of the practice of intertwining the open world, which abolishes the hitherto dominating position of the human subject and creates space for non-anthropocentric expression. The starting point for the discussion presented in the article is the question whether it is possible and reasonable to distinguish the non-anthropocentric essay. Kultywując sztukę umierania. W;t Margaret Edson – pomiędzy dramatem a filmem
As death returned to make its mark on the world with the COVID-19 pandemic and, consequently, resurfaced in the social imaginary, we have found ourselves once again full-throatedly asking questions about what it means to die well. These issues lie at the heart of W;t, an American play penned in the early 1990s by Margaret Edson, which could be situated alongside other fictional and true stories that “provide social scripts for dying” (Knox). The play might also be viewed as a modern reference to the medieval tradition of ars bene moriendi and the morality plays linked with that tradition in a symbiotic, synergistic manner. The essay attempts to demonstrate that the meaning underlying Edson’s play (and its television adaptation of 2001) derives primarily from its grappling with the subject of human’s agency in the face of the inevitable. In its close reading of the play, the essay moves between the text, first published in print in 1999, and the screen, to best tap into the interpretive potential of comparing the drama and its film adaptation. As death returned to make its mark on the world with the COVID-19 pandemic and, consequently, resurfaced in the social imaginary, we have found ourselves once again full-throatedly asking questions about what it means to die well. Doświadczanie kina a dramaturgia neomodernizmu filmowego
This article is an attempt to investigate contemporary film theory highlighting the inseparable connection between cinema and the human body and seeing, in which sense this theory complements academic recognition about neomodernism. The author expands on the philosophical concept of experience, showing problems posed by its conceptualization, and also points to the connection of this term with the body and sensuality. In the next part, the main distinguishing features characterizing the dramaturgy of cinematic neomodernism are given. The author argues that the dramaturgy of this movement creates a different kind of cinema experience in general. The final part presents an analysis of two films which are examples of the theory of cinema as senses, as well as exemplifying the dramaturgy characteristic for neomodernism, and thus creating a specific type of experience in the viewer. This article is an attempt to investigate contemporary film theory highlighting the inseparable connection between cinema and the human body and seeing, in which sense this theory complements academic recognition about neomodernism. Eksperyment somatyczno-dramaturgiczny. Haptyczna wizualność i deziluzyjna dramaturgia w filmie Czarny Łabędź Darrena Aronofsky’ego
Based on the example of Darren Aronofsky’s film Black Swan, the article explores the disillusive potential of interfering with the classic model of film dramaturgy. Referring to the traditional paradigm developed by Syd Field, the author indicates deviations from the conventional narrative that occur in Aronofsky’s film. The text seeks to confirm the thesis that contemporary cinematography exemplifies the trend of abandoning the attempts to create a seemingly referential world. By questioning the fundamental structure of the film’s dramaturgy, Black Swan provides additional interpretive possibilities. However, displaying the constituent elements of a work, for example, by transaccentuating their meaning or changing their place or length of occurrence, is not the most obvious disillusionment strategy. It may in fact remain hidden until the moment of careful analysis.Based on the example of Darren Aronofsky’s film Black Swan, the article explores the disillusive potential of interfering with the classic model of film dramaturgy.
