GPS Derived Seismic Signals for Far Field Earthquake Epicenter Location Estimation
A reliable epicenter estimation method is proposed for Global Positioning System (GPS) derived seismic signal for far-field regional earthquake. The main contribution is the use of time-frequency analysis to estimate the time of arrival (TOA) using multilateration technique. The data from the 2004 Sumatra Andaman earthquake captured from four GPS continuously operating reference stations (GPS CORS) were used in the analysis. To validate the accuracy of the proposed method, the estimated epicenter location was compared with the data released by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The estimated location shows an error of about 0.0572 degrees in latitude and 0.2848 degrees in longitude. The proposed analysis method could complement existing seismometer measurements, improve in understanding of geo-seismic phenomena, and plan future infrastructure development.

Conceptual Design and Analysis of a Hybrid Walking Cane
This work is aimed to design and analyze the staircase climbing aid, hybrid with the function of walking cane. The tremendous demand for living space increases the essentiality of staircase, corresponding to the escalation of fall injuries. The handrails complemented along with staircase had provided deficient safeguard for staircase user, particularly senior citizen and people with lower limb disability, who need staircase climbing aid to provide extra support during escalating or declining staircase.

A Proposal for Malaysia’s Asylum Act
Asylum is granted to people in search for international protection from persecution or serious harm in their own country. The right to asylum for refugees in Malaysia is far from realization and in dire need of a practical solution. Due to the lack of a proper enactment of Asylum Act, asylum seekers are to deal with denial of basic rights. Asylum seekers are also denied of education and healthcare due to high cost since these are not provided by the government. This article discusses the need for a proper enactment of Asylum Act in Malaysia in relation to the rising numbers of asylum seekers and refugees in the country. In this research, a comparative analysis between Malaysia’s existing laws dealing with asylum and the law of Australia, United Kingdom, Indonesia, and European Union was carried out. It was found that these countries have developed their legal framework for asylum considerably and could legally accommodate the influx of refugees into their respective countries, in contrast to Malaysia’s increasingly poor management of the refugees and asylum-seekers. The study suggests the possibility for the adoption of recommended legal principles from those countries into the proposed Malaysian Asylum Act

Exploring an Integrated Conceptual Framework as an Interpretive Framework for Intercultural Communication Research
This paper describes an interpretive framework that is based on an integrated conceptual framework for intercultural communication as the focal point to understand the interconnectivity between social categories and intercultural interactions. Intercultural communication is communication between individuals who are culturally distinct. While a wide range of intercultural communication studies can be found in various literatures, none has offered an integrated conceptual framework to study intercultural interactions in a Malaysian context. There is a gap on an interpretive approach as a framework to support its data analysis and meaningful claims, particularly in multicultural and multilingual Malaysia. Thus, this paper offers an integrated conceptual framework based on intercultural communication, language and intercultural communication, social identity theory, and identity and interaction, to address face-to-face interactions between culturally diverse individuals. Besides adding on to the body of knowledge in intercultural communication, this paper assumes an impetus for approaching interdisciplinary future research in various intercultural interaction settings
The Influence of Brand Story Towards Perceived Brand Image on Malaysian Airline Industry
The public’s perception towards brands varies from one to another. Consumers’ purchasing behaviours keep changing over the years, and people are no longer interested with a one-way flow of communication when it comes to purchasing, or in simpler words, consumers “don't like to be sold”. Brand story is one of the strongest marketing strategies that most of the big companies apply to grow their business as well as to portray a good company image. Studies show that the influence of brand story is powerful in building a positive brand image, for it can empower and motivate the audience, convey purpose, and enhance customers' purchasing experience. The purpose of this paper is to identify the respondents’ perception of brand story, to ascertain their levels of perceived brand image, as well as to examine the relationship between the perception of brand story and perceived brand image. A survey through the use of a questionnaire was carried out, and 384 respondents participated, and the results indicate a significant value on the relationship between the influence of brand story and perceived brand image
The Effect of Workplace Spirituality on Employee Performance
Employees in the 21st century seek a work environment which allows them to find a sense of purpose at work, within an atmosphere filled with respect and courteous interactions between the employees and their surroundings. The spiritually-oriented work environment is crucial because it shapes employees’ behaviour at the personal level and eventually, improves employee performance. In this paper, a theoretical framework which explains how the spiritual work environment (inner self, community and meaningful work) improves employee performance is presented. This framework can be a reference for organisations in gauging their spiritual work environment, and subsequently incorporating spiritual elements at work as a way to influence employee performance. In return, it contributes to the long-term survival and success of the organisation
Development of Brain Balancing System for Left and Right Hemispheres
This paper presents the design of Mini Brain Games (MBGs) to improve either the left or right hemisphere of the brain. The MBG includes spot the difference, piano, block view, word building, word scrambler, sudoku, left hand control, memory card, flash card, crossword, math logic and mnemonics technique used for the order of operations in algebra, the planets in solar system, and resistor color code. Stroop test and brain dominance test are used to measure the level of balance between the two hemispheres of the brain before and after the exercise program. The mini brain games designed in the Brain Balancing System Windows Application are shown to improve the balance between the left and right hemisphere of the brain. The results show that the mini brain games are indeed able to assist in the left or right brain development. The largest improvement achieved is that the percentage of dominance between the two brain hemispheres is reduced by 18.18%. The smallest improvement achieved was that the difference between the two brain hemispheres was reduced by 9.08%.

Effects of Anode Design and Configuration on the Growth Dynamics and Surface Morphologies of Electrodeposited Copper Films
The influence of different anode configurations on the growth mechanisms, transient currents and surface morphologies of copper film using localized electrodeposition technique have been studied. Measured transient currents during electrodeposition were used to investigate the underlying growth dynamics. SEM images were obtained and the surface morphologies of the deposited copper films were analyzed. It was found that the transient current increased when copper ions were able to grow directly on the empty surface of the copper film that was located away from the mini electrodes. This caused the copper ions to be deposited sporadically via the instantaneous growth mechanism and formed cluster of atoms on the empty surface of the copper film which led to rougher surfaces. In contrast, progressive growth was observed to occur at a faster rate for the deposition performed using insulated mini electrodes, especially in the case of collinear double insulated mini electrodes as indicated by the reduction of the transient current with time. Besides, copper films with uniform and smoother surfaces were obtained when the depositions were performed using multiple or a large number of closely spaced mini electrodes. This was due to the fact that large number of closely spaced mini electrodes produced parallel and uniform electric field patterns.
